Next rotation?

BTW that Super Energy Retrival link has nothing on the page...

I agree that getting rid of Catcher would be great.

Not that I play that competitively, but it's almost getting to the same situation as the "donk" decks that were in fashion.

Plus it will stop all those people that say "you need to have 4 Catchers in your deck".

You guys need to calm down on the whole "if X happens in the rotation then Y things will happen". Speculation is one thing but stating things like "every deck will use Ninetales and Genesect" as a fact as another.

Except it isn't. Benchsitters are already overpowered, but with Mr. Mime and no catcher, they are borderline broken. The only ways you HAVE to drag them up if Catcher is rotated is with Ninetales or Genesect, or with a pathetic waste of an attack. :/ Saying that not everyone is going to run Ninetales or Genesect is like saying not everyone is going to run N or Juniper; you need certain things for s deck to function. Cards being a staple isn't a bad thing. It just means that the card isn't complete GARBAGE.

You were wondering to if it's been announced somehow? it fooled me to.

on topic: Yea you don't have to worry until the next round/new year of tournaments (after worlds). All signs point to NxD-on, with concern for more or less sets rotated.

The only thing we know for sure that IF there is a rotation is that the non-EX B&W will be rotated out.
Anything else is anybodies guess.

Wait... they announced that?

If it hasn't been announced, we don't know it for sure; I find it highly doubtful, but a lack of rotation is not unprecedented. If we know for sure, we literally "know for sure".

It seems quite probable that Black & White, BW: Emerging Powers, and BW: Noble Victories are gone, but it isn't guaranteed.

...

Unless I really did miss an announcement.

No announcement of a rotation. I am say that IF there were one that those 3 would be very highly likely to be rotated at once otherwise why have a rotation?

Though I would love for it to rotate to NV-on just so I can eat my hat.

Reminder what I said isn't official, but come on it is common sense.

Didn't you get the memo? "Common sense" is actually quite rare, and generalities are poison in a discussion about details.

With Virbank City Gym in play.

All I want to know is whether or not to buy 4 catchers right now. Because if these become rotated I will hate myself for spending $50+ on cards that will end up being $1-$2 in a matter of months.

Japan just recently had a Catcher reprint, and we would need to rotate 5 sets to DRX-On to rotate Catcher from our current format. Catchers would be a reasonably safe investment.

I think at the very least we will see a Shaymin EX reprint due to the Shiny Collection cards. Also that Pokemon Catcher reprint in Japan directly affects any rotation. I personally don't think the game would benefit from a rotation as it would unbalance the game a great deal.

Blastoise/Keldeo/Black Kyurem would be broken because nothing would be on the same level. As much as I hate to say it, the game is much better off as it is with no rotation.

I however, would like to see 4 X/Y sets released at the same time and do a hard rotation or do a Plasma-On format. I think that would be a bit better.

We might not even need 4 XY sets for the hard rotation, Japan has done a hard rotation into a 1 set Modified before (B&W on... with only the B&W base set legal!). If they plan on doing it again for XY there's a good chance the whole world will get the same format if they intend on making the TCG simultaneous releases too. It makes sense in a way as they always use different Pokemon media to advertise each other, so the TCG set has to come out within a fairly small margin of the VGs release.
A large enough (and well designed) XY Base set could make this good news!

*Praying to Arceus* C'mon c'mon c'mon!

Honestly I don't see a rotation having that drastic of an impact if it's just BW-NVI, most of the good cards have been reprinted in NXD-on with few exceptions such as Cobalion and a few items such as Recycle.

BW-NVI being reprinted wont do much to the game but a rotation deeper then Dark Explorers could change the game a great deal. Most of the shiny evolutions become unplayable. If they do a rotation this year, then we know for a fact that that BW-NVI will rotate. I think they may also rotate NDX and DEX just to kill catcher and force people to use Ninetales and Genesect EX. Who knows.

We know nothing for a fact.

Yes, IF a rotation happens, those three, at a minimum would have to go.
The two big questions are "will there be a rotation?" and if so, "would the new format start with Next Destinies or Dark Explorers?"
Since they like to rotate our a full year's worth of sets if they can, which would be 4 sets, taking our Next Destinies makes sense, especially since DE has such a nice group of Trainers in it.
But as noted, that's just my speculation. If I knew anything, I wouldn't be posting in this topic.

I will also add that they took 5 sets as opposed to the normal 4 last year, so it is possible that they may do the flat 3 to compensate for last time.

I disagree, I would wait. they probably will be Player rewards promos, if it doesn't get rotated.
