NOOOOOOOO! Why HGSS? (The shiny thread)

Silver - Caught a shiny krabby without realizing it was shiny (It was the first one I ran into, and I missed the sparkle). Afterward, I thought it was a glitch, so I deleted it. >.< (I Also killed Raikou because I was convinced it was a glitch like 'M that would mess up the game if I caught it.)

~Years and years of nothing ~

Pearl - I'm bored. Let's go catch trading fodder. Waitaminute, is that Starly brown??? Go Pokeball! O.O

I was really kicking myself once I found out the krabby was not only not a glitch, but was super rare. XD
 
In 600 hours of play on Emerald, I have found 4 Shiny Pokemon in the wild, in order: Zigzagoon, Wurmple, Poochyena, Magnemite. Other than that, nothing.
 
Well, as long as you know your SID, you can always time it and pretty much force the game to give you a shiny...
 
Well, today i re-started my SoulSilver - resetting for a 30-31 IV atk, and +ATK or +Speed nature.
After an hour of resetting without the stats i was wanting, i got a shiny Totodile!

Quick tip - when choosing your starter on HeartGold or SoulSilver, it shows you if the starter is shiny or not.

Sassy (-Speed, +Sp.Def)
20-31 HP
10-29 Atk
0-11 Def
12-31 Sp.Atk
0-3 Sp.Def
0-13 Speed

Yeah - not the best shiny in the world, but i got it by dumb luck.
 
Never caught a shiny never ran into one but my friend ran into a shiny pelipper on the way to pal park but it was on our friends ds and then our friend is a nub so he traded it for a phione.

LOL i have the best story ever. I was in i think victory road in diamond, and i am walking along, and right there, a shiny Floatzel, level 45! At the time i didn't know what shiny pokemon were as i had never met one before, and on floatzel it's especially hard to tell. but I was able to notice that it was different and I caught it. so now i have this shiny floatzel, level 45 no less, and i still dont know what shiny pokemon are. Back then i had an infernape and a torterra, so i really want an empoleon. So... wait for it... I trade it over the GTS. I got my empoleon, but lost one of the rarest pokemon ever. about a month later, i found out what shiny pokemon were, realized what i had done, and felt like a retard.
 
On the car ride to St. Louis Nationals, I got tired of playing Pearl and let my little sister play. She goes to the Safari Zone, finds a shiny Bibarel, shows it to me, and I tell her to catch it. She says "nah, it's just a boring Bibarel" and hits "Run" before I can stop her. Argh!

Does anyone know what the probability of the first Pokemon you see in the game being shiny is?
 
I almost caught a shiney pidgey once. My girlfriend broke my DS before I could catch it, though.

Shiney Pidgey's and relationships don't mix.

about 1/8100 ish - but if you are good enough, you will learn how to consistently map out shiny pokemon.
 
Best story yet.. I was playing pokemon silver many years ago... I was surfing and ran into a psyduck.. (yes Bruce, a Psyduck). But this was no ordinary Psyduck, it was blue. I was really excited. I get it's health down and go to throw a pokeball. Well, you know how you had to switch boxes when your old box was full in the pm system? Guess what? My box was full and it would not let me catch the shiny Psyduck.. I was sad...

Haha, I remember i called Bill so often to see how much space I had left. I kind of wish there'd been a feature where if you called a person a certain # of times in a short space of time (Like an hour) They'd say something different like "STOP CALLING ME, DAGNABIT!"

While I'm on the subject of phones, I hate how you have to randomly wait for someone to call you to rebattle. >.< Really hope they change that for the next gen.
 
OK, this is retarded. I gave my little sister a Silver version just to keep her quiet. She's 5 years old.
She went to walk along the first route and I think the second Pokémon she found was a shiny Pidgey xDDD And shes 5. xD We couldn't catch it though because we had no Pokéballs xD
 
I was playing HG at school, and I was EV training against Magikarps, and I was looking at my Pokemon. I had Shiny Gyarados in my party as an HM slave and I said "You know what? It would suck if I got a shiny magikarp"

AND GUESS WHAT

I found a shiny magikarp five minutes later :[

I caught it. It's name is Jeffrey.
 
Best story ever. I start up my Soul sliver, and get a shiny Cyniquil on my first try. Then when I go to lugia, its shiny and I catch it.
I bet I have more non hacked shinys then anyone else [491].
I am a master Chainer and Soft Resetor.

491 is quite a bit - but how many have the IVs to back them up?
20+ shinys that are battle worthy here :biggrin:
