"Normal" Animals in Pokemon Universe

when meowth tried to eat a magikarp, it cracked his teeth. magikarp are extremely hard. that was the episode that james' magikarp evolved.

Back to back posts merged. The following information has been added:

scrambled togepi for breakfast??

Haha, yeah. Rules of old school Pokemon show: If James kicks it, it evolves. He's got the golden toe.

Yeah, like someone said, seems the only nonpokemon they show a lot is the fish.

But really... in the pokemon world... who wants to see normal animals?

non-pokemon lifeforms on the planet

Just because you see a fish swim by, that dose not mean it is not a Pokemon. If you saw a school of Magicarp swim by and it was not an established Pokemon yet, would you not just think it was a regular fish. All of those fish you see are Pokemon because on whatever planet this show takes place on there are only two types of lifeforms. The human looking lifeforms that can not be stored inside Pokeballs,
and all other lifeforms on the planet are Pokemon, and they can be stored inside Pokeballs.

So any non human-like lifeforms you see on the show are Pokemon, it is just sometimes they show ones that we do not know the name of yet.

Also are the "humans" born or just cloned? We know that there are clones of Nurse Joy and Officer Jenny in every city in the world, So I assume that others are cloned as well. And as I do not think a pregnant Humanoid has ever been portrayed in the show. Plus there has never been a mention of Ash's father, I assume Ash's mother got him at the clone clinic.

Or maybe all of the "People" are just Robotic lifeforms who populate the world and are reproduced by an assembly line somewhere, and the Pokemon are the only organic lifeforms on the Planet. Look in 10 years no one in the show has aged a bit. Ash is the same 10 year old that he was when he left Pallet in the 1st Episode.

At least some people age on the show. I've seen flashbacks to Jesse's and James's childhoods, and remember seeing flashbacks from other characters on the show.

Unless of course those are implanted memories, like the replicants in "Blade Runner" ;-)

I agree to most of what JandPDS had to say. But even though Ash's father hasn't be reveiled, he did indeed have a "father" whether his mom was married or had a significant other, or his father was the one who created him at the lab...

But to stay on topic, since the Pokemon represtents all Animals and even some plant life, that means, that the Humans and Clones of this world need to eat something....So some Pokemon are most definately used for food. Plus think of the Food Chain in the Pokemon World...What does an Arcanine eat, or say a Persian, or even a Pikachu..the possibilities are endless. But I guess this would be best left to our imagination, because I don't see them ever going into great detail about the circle of life in the Pokemon world. Children just wouldn't understand....or would they?

It could just be that everyone is a vegetarian in the Pokemon world, they do have non-sentient plant life :)

Well, they do have rice for sure as the character are regularly seen eating Brock's rice balls in the early shows. (Although for some silly reason 4Kids decided to call them Jelly donuts in the Mankey/Primeape episode) I agree it does seem that the the "humans" do seem to be vegetarians as I have never seen any depiction of any kind of meat ever being served for a meal. Also we know that Pidgey do hunt Caterpies, so we can assume that other Pokemon are prey to larger Pokemon on this planet. And from the games we know that all pokemon eat Berries.

This whole big mystery could be cleared up a bit if we could ever find out just what ingredients Brok puts together to make up his Pokechow?

In the second episode it talks about how pigey eat caterpie. The pokedex said that.
For no reason, it jumps and splashes about, making it easy for predators like PIDGEOTTO to catch if mid-jump.
Pidgeotto eat Magikarp.

They aren't vegetarian in pokemon. You usually put bonito flakes over your riceballs before you eat them. And I've seen Ash eating tonkatsu in one episode, I also saw pikachu eating a hamburger.

Joy-tachi and Junsa-tachi aren't clones, just relatives in their respective families of seriously screwed up genetics. If they were clones, Takeshi would not be able to clearly distinguish physical differences between them.

Besides, in the Fuwante episode Satoshi-tachi meet a Joy and her daughters, neither of which are named Joy (Saiyaka and Mai were their names as near as I could tell). This obviously means that Joy and Junsa are surnames, not first names.

Since when are they clones? Ash has always been able to distinguish differences between them, and yeah :p

I see what you did there.
I had to check my post again. I thought I really typo'd at first. =(
By the way, Takeshi is Brock and Satoshi is Ash. ;\

Clones

The Police officers and nurses do not all just look the same, in appearence they are all the same age, height and weight.
That makes them Clones in my book. Give them all White armored suites and a blaster and you would have your very own Stormtrooper Army.
