Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Official Troll and Toad Nationals Thread

The trade-in bonuses values do apply! As by what we mean alphabetically, the best way to do it is simply make all your first editions/reverse foils in alphabetical order in one stack and your commons/uncommons/rares in a separate stack in alphabetical order.

To be entered into the giveaway, we'll have a booth set up where everyone can sign up at this years Nationals. A winner will be picked by either one of our staff or someone representing Nationals as a whole. The winner will receive "a free, all expenses paid entry into the 2011 Pokemon National Tournament, including round trip airfare, 3 nights accommodations, and a paid entry fee.(Valued at $1000). The giveaway will be held immediately following the conclusion of the Championship. The winner need not be present to receive his prize."

We're interested in buying ANYTHING Pokemon related! So bring whatever you want to sale! And we looking forward to seeing all of you!

Do the cards have to alphabetized? If so, does that mean you guys wont take in the bulk commons/uncommons?

Again if you read the thread it tells you how they want them. Read the bold part.

do you guys buy the pokemon cards from burger king? the ones from like 1999/2000 that came in the kids meals

I'm not sure if I can alphabetize all my cards in time for this weekend. If I am not able too, will you still buy them at normal price? Or will you decrease the value/not accept them at all? Thanks for your time >.<

Was VERY, VERY disappointed with Troll and Toad. They did not honor their website's buylist prices, and they did not implement their bonus either. After waiting in line for 2 hours at Troll and Toad and being shut down by them, I took my 17,000+ cards over to Collectors Cache and sold them for the same thing T&T would have given just so they didn't get my business. My friends all did the same.

Agreed. After 14 plus hours of sorting, alphabitizing, packaging, labeling, and typing lists for our cards, it was a big pill to swallow that all our work was for nothing. A guy came in after me and got the same price for his cards just put in boxes as we did for ours. I used to send people to the troll and toad website when they would approach me during my tournaments looking for places to buy singles, etc. I cant say that will ever happen again.

Well while I wasn't in the business of selling cards, I found buying to be an easy enough experience, and their prices for singles were cheaper compared to next door I thought. Guess I enjoyed having them as a vendor.

I was miffed that the price they offered to buy a Darkrai playment ($14) was below the posted buy list price on their Web site ($20)...especially when they were clearly selling it for $40 right in front of me, but downright offended as a customer that they didn't seem to care. When I asked if I could speak to someone about the discrepancy, the guy said "alright, I'll give you $15." That's the attitude and response of a huckster, which is why I'm wondering if the room staffed with T&T employees, or some kind of middleman?

THIS!

Its amazing how much nicer service you get when buying cards rather then selling cards, when dealing with both Troll and Toad and Collectors Cache... AND Gathering Ground last year.

I thought Troll and Toad was great. The guy over at Collectors Cache offered to buy my Jaces(magic) for $35 each, and said that T&T wouldnt buy them. I simply walked over to T&T, and they offered me $60 each. I stopped going to Cache.

I really liked TnT as a vendor. I was fine with their buy prices. The money saved on postage and hassle made up for lower than web site trade prices.

They sold Monster Binders at $26 (which is super cheap) so there were deals to be had.

The one thing I missed were the rarer deck box selections for GG last year and a better selection of sleeves.

Overall I would give them a thumbs up!!!

Hi Guys,

This is Dan from Troll and Toad. I hope everyone had a fantastic time at Pokemon Nationals - we definitely enjoyed the event, and thought it to be a breath of fresh air from a lot of events that we attend. I know that I personally found the players/parents to all be extremely nice and helpful (most of our staff in attendance are not Pokemon players and traditionally work with other games).

As far as the event went, we were slightly under-prepared, especially in our Pokemon memorabilia selection - this was the first time we were able to attend the event, and certainly did not expect the demand for non-Pokemon singles to be as high as it was. As far as singles, I am pretty sure that we brought most every playable single that was legal for the event - and kept them at our regular website price (unless we had to pay more at the event) - in an effort to be as fair as possible. I certainly don't appreciate the opportunistic approach that some vendors take - and wanted our regular prices to be in effect as much as possible for the entire weekend.

I apologize to the people that were disappointed that our on-site buy prices did not necessarily reflect our online buylist. Essentially, our goal was to pay fair prices - but not get overrun with product. Basically, our buylist updates daily (and reflects items purchased - and lowers prices as per necessary). We were manually doing the same thing, or at least trying to, to the best of our ability. In the case of the playmat (Darkrai example), I apologize if one of our staff members was short with you - that certainly was not intended. However, over the course of the weekend, we had picked up 50+ Darkrai playmats - and was simply adjusting (as stated above). I suppose this could have been better explained, and I will definitely go over this particular example with our staff in the future. Basically, the same thing occurred with bulk cards (we bought more than a million cards over the course of the weekend), and our buyprices on bulk reflect the cost of shipping. Basically, it costs $10-$12, to ship something with the weight of 1000 cards - and our buyprices at the event were indicative of that. We did have to rent trucks to have the product delivered back to our main facility.

Either way, I do really believe it was a great event for everyone involved, and certainly look forward to attending next year. Next year what you can expect from us is:

* We will be buying everything (bulk only needs to be broken down by rarity - both commons/uncommons are the same to us!

* More singles/sealed product than we brought this year!

* A much more extensive selection of Pokemon memorabilia!

* A larger staff to reduce the amount of wait time for all customers!

* Another super cool giveaway or something equally cool!

As far as our contest went, a winner was announced at the event - and contacted. Mr. Dar Edie from Missouri will be going to Nationals next year completely free!

Thanks to all, and feel free to post any concerns/responses/criticisms/praise, and I will certainly read and answer as often as possible.

Thanks again

Sorry. You did not address alphabetizing cards at all and trade in bonuses you promised right here on this thread. Until this weekend, you had almost all of my trading card business. I will definitely be switching to Collectors Cache or another vendor from now on.
