Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Ontario Canada Provincial Championships

EXTREME sour grapes. 4-3s should not get in over 5-2s because they accidentally circled 'WIN'. The fact that he still continued to play in Top 16s speaks wonders. I am extremely disappointed in him for not being mature (being an adult and all) and the resolution of the issue. Bottom line, he should NOT have been there.

Otherwise, a well judged, good competitive event. Thanks to everyone else.

Well today was my first tournament ever. Posted a 3-4 record. Pretty good considering my goal going in was to take at least 1 prize card. Me and my friends had lots of fun, plus my girlfriend got to show off her Pokemon hats.

Overall a good tournament except for my sour grapes versus a certain 4-3 who shouldn't have made cut:nonono: but, if nothing could've been done, we can't complain too much. I just wish that person would've acknowledged their mistake and given up in the top 16 (giving the packs to either my dad Marcel or Reed).

Here are the final standings:

Toronto, Ontario, Canada

[If I butcher your name, I am sorry]

MA:
1st Zach Lesage (me) w/ LuxChomp (undefeated w00t!w00t!) lawls
2nd John R-P FlyChamp & Dusknoir tech
3rd Curtis L w/ Jumpluff/Gengar
4th ??? ??? w/ PLOX

SR:
1st Jacob Lesage (my brother) w/ LuxChomp (undefeated w00t!w00t!) lawls
2nd Matthew C w/ CurseGar
3rd Winston C w/ CurseGar
4th Michael L w/ Gyarados/Luxray

JR:
1st Ethan P w/ CurseGar
(Paige, Quinn, and Justin were all in cut but, I didn't catch their decks)

Overall a cool day and my brother and I both went undefeated:)

It was a fun event overall. Got some very bad luck in a couple games and decently good luck in some others so I'm not too upset with 4-3. (P.S. totally not that top 16 guy I was like 30somethingth lawl).

Also I really was impressed with the amount of door prizes! It was a really nice thing to do, all 5 of the people in my group, including me, got at least something for showing up! A+ to the TOs for doing that.

Not to give any hints on who this person is to give them some dignity but, I am pretty sure he is known throughout the Ontario players for certain reasons. I don't have bad feelings for him but, I don't think he should've been there at all because he didn't deserve to be there.

Here is my stance:

I went 7-0 in swiss, I obviously had the hardest match-ups, the hardest road to top cut but, I deserved it.

Alex D went 6-1 in swiss with his only loss being me, still very deserving.

Many 6-1's including Sebastian S worked very hard and still deserved to be in top cut.

17 actual players went 5-2 (the 17 players isn't including that certain player) and they worked hard yet, couldn't secure that absolute top cut. They still deserved to make it but, one of them wouldn't have made it in. They all worked hard and deserved to make cut.

A certain player made cut as 4-3 (printed as a 5-2) and stole a spot from a deserving 5-2 that whiffed (Marcel or Reed). He didn't "step down" or try to get the loss fixed but, kept on playing even though he stole spots. This is the issue, he didn't work as hard as Alex, 6-1's, 5-2's, myself and he didn't deserve to be there.

If that certain person is reading this, again no hard feelings towards you but, I am disappointed in that situation.

I guess you have to put yourself in his shoes
If you know you had a chance of not making it, but if you kept hush hush and you do make it
You might just do the same.

just sayin,

Actually, I wouldn't accept that win and would feel bad about myself (just like the other person on that certain players crew who bribes people for wins). I play honestly and I am sure all of my opponents today would vouch for that too. If you can't win properly then your should get out of this game.

Well it's a good thing you made it in legitimately then. I can't put myself in his shoes, because I would have never played my first top 16 match at 4-3. It shows a high level of immaturity and inability to see reason for anyone to do that.

What you're suggesting is outright cheating, which I'm pretty sure is against the rules and could result in a DQ or worse (failing to correct the situation with anyone in charge).

Congratulations on doing as well as you did, but there is nothing right about what he did.

100% agreed.

I would fell better if he did admit that he was 4-3 and go on but, he decided that he belonged there as much as the rest and played on. I am glad he didn't win the tournament or else I would have even more sour grapes.

Hey, sorry I can't remember your name, but I played you with the Houndoom/Ambipom deck. I went 3-4 also with the same sense of pride. The hats were amazing!

Thanks to Marv and all the judging staff - it was a great tournament.

Jumpluff Gengar isn't a joke. Try facing it one day, maybe you'll reconsider your comment =).

On another note. I'm glad there were cookies =)

Special thanks to the judges, and Marv and his crew for holding another successful event. It was well organized and it was pretty enjoyable overall =) I'll see you guys at Quebec... and others at Regionals =)
