Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

OREGON State Championship - March 21, 2009

Mr Raichu wasn't the only one who made that offer. But we're not worried. There is no way we are going to hit 401...

Yep, David is right no worries here. The odds of getting 70 more players than we had at States (which btw was an astronomical number) is a deal that the house will always take  Besides, nobody wants to see us without our beards.

^Hey Man! I wouldn't be to sure. I know that our area only brought 9 people. How many did we have
at the Cities...39? And regionals is the first one with Scholarship money on the line! I'm pretty sure that
we could have as many as 20 or 25 coming up from Ashland/Medford this time! And how many more
Washington players might show...are we gonna get any from northern California or any other surrounding
states? All I know is, don't get too attached! (And pleeeeeease pick me for shaving Mr. Raichu's head
bald! O goodness would that be fun!)

btw, in the raffle, I hope you intend to let the OR players be in the raffle for the OR PTO, and the WA players
to be in the raffle for the WA PTO. I really am not that amped up about the idea of shaving the WA PTO's head,
but Chris, that's another story!

ZOWZA ZOWZA ZOO!!! Ok I think I can put a couple of coherant thoughts together now.

First and foremost a HUGE thanks to all of the awesome players who turned out... you guys rock!!!
Without you all, this game means nothing to me, you are truly what its all about *sheds a tear*

My registration crew for "allowing me" to bark orders as needed. Bunches of thanks to you.

All staff on board: David, Niki, Elva, Susan, Lindsey, Peter(I got it right), Rich, Debi, Chris, Mark,
Lisa, Larry, Kenny, Mike, Conor & Team Rocket(DS side event). I would work with any of you at anytime.

BDS & Mr. Raichu for letting me help them.

The day summed up in one word = INCREDIBLE!!!!

Can't wait to do it all again at Regionals :thumb:

Thanks to everyone on the staff at Oregon States this last weekend. The tournament ran very smoothly for having over 300 people. (I STILL can't fathom it! And I was there!)

A special thank you to BDS for making JandPDS's day when you told him he has great SOTG. That's what it's all about for our family.

Extra special thank you to Debbie, June and Chris, for handling Sarah gently and fairly. She loves playing the game but doesn't quite have some things down just yet. (Like taking prizes.) She's so funny, because I'd ask her "Do you want to drop?" and her answer is always "NO!". Then she'll tell me later that she wants to drop, and I say OK and turn around to let a judge know and it's always the same thing. "Wait mommy... I think I can play one more." Seven rounds for a five-year old and she didn't have a nuclear melt-down. Now THAT'S a successful tournament!!

Regionals will be a blast! We'll see everyone in a month! ^_^

P

Thanks!!

Love you guys! Great day! Congrats to the Oregon players- always great to see our wonderful WA neighbors! And come on regionals and a bald Raichu!

So who were the final winners 1st through 4th for each group? And how much glass did we lose to Washington?

The official States Trophy count for the Washington/Oregon record (whatever Ross used to call it) is

Washington - 14:smile:
Oregon - 10

However, OR did take 5 of 6 First Place Trophys, so I think we're pretty even...

Well, trophy count or not. That means Oregon players will recieve a total of $1,500 in travel allowence
to Nationals, while WA players will just get $300.

Needless to say, I think the tide has turned. BOOYA!

Thanks to everyone for the extremely well put together event. Your hard work really paid off.

My family had a great time as usual. See you all in a few weeks.

More top finishers=more rating points=worlds invites.

Actually it does make me feel a lot better that two Washington players are in the top 10 regardless of the states results (I need to punish Paul, he only made 2nd with the deck I loaned him for the tournament, that's enough trying to win tournaments by proxy for me). And they're both X-Files members.

Hey AWESOME work by Paul J getting 2nd. Isn't this his first tournament of the season? That man has some talent!!!

All in all I think we have a new era starting in the OR - WA rivalry. After a few years of domination, I think WA is going to have to share more from here out...

Most of the old Team Or-ee-gon crew is coming out to Regionals to see a bald Chris.

PREPARE TO BE SHAVED.

*edit* also @WA... ha hahahahahaha hahahah hahahahahahah hahah

hahahahaha hahah hah hahahahahah hahaha.

Glad there was a T16 this year

I noticed that if we were still sutck with the T8 for states again this year, then the Masters player that Finished 2nd Paul J. would not have been in the top cut at all. Even though he had a 6-1 record he was in 9th place and would have missed the top cut. I am glad they finally fixed that problem.

^ I don't know how I feel about it. In WA, I was on fire, I lost 1 time to a kingdra donk, but I DOMINATED
every other match, and got 6th seed. I even had that killer draw against Steven W. but he has mewtwo X so
I bit the big one in top 4. He got 15th seed, so he wouldn't have been in a T8, and I think I might have walked
away with a 1st place trophy out of a T8.

And it was cool to make T16 at 16th seed in OR, but I just got matchup up against Crystle's Machamp deck
at 1st seed...and lost a CLOSE match. In the end, my premeier rating droped 6 point because I was 5-2 in swiss
and 0-1 in the finals for 5-3 on the day. So it might have been 'better' to not do the finals than to just add another
loss to my credit....I don't disagree from a competitive standpoint, but looking back on it, T8 might have resulted
in two less losses, and a 1st place trophy instead of a 3rd place trophy...but who knows I guess.
