Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

OREGON State Championships - March 12, 2011

I thought we played by VGC rules? I always have lol

which would allow dark void...

also don't post in this thread unless you have something constructive to say, us Oregonians dislike bickering :)

Again, you're finding reasons to make me uncool. First off you tell me that paying nothing for lodging for states means I have no awesome, and now I am being banned from thread because I never have any construction paper...

Haha! Breon is staying with his parents and has no construction paper! What a looser.

... Wait.... Okay I have construction paper.

Just a heads up to whomever it was planning Nerf Wars at last years events - I will be prepared to retaliate with Nerf firepower of a magnitude you will not be able to withstand. Rrrrits a trap!

Cyber, thanks for posting these rules. I have some questions for you.

For clarification, a trainer could not bring in say, multiple Dragonites, but rather, could bring in a Dragonite and a Dragonair, correct?

I ask because there are ‘NFE’ (Not fully evolved) pokemon that are useful/used in tandem with their fully evolved forms. Porygon 2 and Scyther come to mind.

You can't have multiple of a Pokemon with the same National Pokedex #. So on your team you could use Porygon, Porygon2, and Porygon-Z if you wanted, but no having 2 Porygon-Z on your team.

Does this mean that, a trainer may not put to sleep more than any one of their opponent’s pokemon at a time, (until it’s knocked out) but they may be inflicted by sleep due to say, Breloom’s spore effect?

At the same time, self induced sleep like Rest, or an encored spore would still be legal, correct?

A Trainer may not put more then one opposing Pokemon to sleep. As for the Rest & Encore situations, let me discuss that with the other DS tournament Judges and either I or [R]Visitor will post the ruling on that.

Would the battle then change to single battle 1 v 1?

Submitted for your consideration, a sudden death match was played out at last year’s world championships in Hawaii. iirc, the trainers brought in 4 pokemon to the sudden death battle, but battled only until the first pokemon was knocked out. It seems like double battle pokemon work better in a 2 on 2 environment, and might be diminished by being thrust into a 1 on 1 situation, just to decide a tie.

If not, everyone could just pack a level 1 focus-sashed Starly with endeavor and quick attack in their sixth spot, or a similarly customized Smeargle for such an emergency.

Thanks again, looking forward to your response.

Sadly I wasn't there at Hawaii nor did I know what happened during the VGC tournament there. Interesting scenario though.

About the whole lv.1 Starly thing, I doubt it'll happen because you must register your team of 4-6 Pokemon when you sign up. So when the battle goes to sudden death both players will use 1 of the Pokemon that was already on their team. You cannot change held items while deciding on your one Pokemon.

This is the same Sudden Death rule we used for last year's DS tournaments at OR States and NW Regionals and no one had any trouble with it.

Friendly reminder, the TO's BDS and Mr. Raichu will get the final say on which rules stay and which ones get modified.

Little Lad's saying you'd have your normal 4, then an extra pokemon for some occasions, and then use the 6th spot for said starly.

Cyber: Change the sleep clause to "You cannot put more than 1 of your opponent's Pokemon to sleep at a time"? Rest should be allowed under any circumstances IMO, using sleep to turn off a Rester's recovery does not seem terribly fair. Just my opinion though!

Okay, the thread got boring, so im going to start somefin:
