Pearl Chomp Lock

nnaann and JPN Gallade- Thanks!

thepliskin5005- I'm a little confused as to why that would work. Could you please explain to me why that would work?

cmak37- With Azelf MT in play, I won't be able to counter-KO Garchomps with Ambipom. If someone does play Pearl Chomp Lock after the rotation, I would strongly recommend an Ambipom. I also explained in my previous post (post #13) that Thunder Falling against me could be slightly beneficial to me.

Jigsaw- Luxray GL is good, but you require two Flash Bites to KO an opposing, threatening Luxray. Bright Look is also Sprayable. Dragon Rush can easily take care of a Luxray GL without having to waste Flash Bites. This makes Pearl Chomp Lock superior to Palkia/Luxray.

Ms. April- thanks!

MattPL- You would have to burn all four of your Energy Gains plus two Flash Bites to take down a Machamp. Plus, Machamp will just level up and use Take Out on Mismagius. Horror Chant can do 70, but either way they will still 2HKO each other, or Machamp will OHKO Mismagius. It still doesn't help a lot.

whe phineon's poke power is you look at your oppents hand and if they have bench space you can set down a basic pokemon on there and swith that basic pokemon to there active pokemon so now it screws them up haveing that basic pokemon out and some thing goes to the lost zone for them.

Lumineon has to be active in order to use its power. There is a chance that my opponent will not hold any Basics in their hand. Also, I don't want to blow Poketurns or DCEs just to have a shot at causing the disruption Lumineon can provide. Thanks for the suggestion, but I just don't see it working.

awesome article A+

personally i would play more crobats but any variation of the palkia deck is very cramped so I understand hwy you're only playing 1

You didn't understand i use both of em 2-2 lines EACH so it's not superior it's quite better to have both, excellent article dude

Jigsaw- I see what you're saying. A 2-2 Palkia line does mean that you will get PGX out more consistently, but it decreases the chance that you will get a Palkia G start. Thus, you would have to waste an energy attachment or a Poketurn getting the other active out of the active spot. I find that a 3-1 line works better for consistency.

COOL TRAINER D- I wanted to fit Unown Q in, but the list was too cramped. Unown Q does help with retreating a just-leveled-up Uxie Lv. X to get me a form of draw power. However, if I start with a Pixie, chances are I will have a Call Energy not only to retreat the Pixie but also to get a Palkia G and Garchomp C on the field.

Good Article and Nice List!!

Palkia Lock is a really underestimated deck and I think if played right it can do really well at Worlds.
Instead of Mismagius I play a 1-1 Honchkrow SV and a dark Energy. It really helps the Gyarados, Machamp, and Mewtwo Match up.

i don't see the need of lucario, a single guarded palkia might take all the prizes via pearl breath (among healing breath) the 10 damage done to the bench really hurts Stage 2 decks like machamp, Flygon or Kingdra

i like your list, the best thing about palkia g is the ability to play almost anything if you can find the room for it. i run three crobat g's in my version of this deck. cause its crazy counter drops and i always find that i need my poketurns for everyone but crobat g.

also, the decks matchups do change after losing downer material which is so good you only realise it til its rotated out,

as far as plox goes, i find that if you stop them t1-3 you win the game. if they run spirirtomb that changes a bit. g-dos is literally the hardest matchup for this deck, cause there isn't a way to ohko g-dos like g-dos can ohko you. plus regiice is hard to deal with sometimes because you dont have spray in hand lol. also downer material makes sableye sad in this matchup. because g-dos tends to not run many energy, esp non searchable, making it pay 1 to use its attack is lols

Reader1237- Thanks! Honchkrow SV can help in some situations, but I don't like how I have to add in the extra Darkness Energy to use it. I find it a lot easier to use the Psychic Energy with Mismagius if I have to counter Mewtwo at all. Yes, it does help against Machamp, but Machamp isn't seen very often anymore, so I feel Mismagius is still superior.

KingGengar- Machamp isn't seen a lot anymore, and Powerlock+Pearl Breath can still be a fighting force. You can take down one, maybe even two, Machamps with Pearl Chomp Lock, but Lucario GL does help with OHKOing them. Also, what else would I use Lucario GL for besides Machamp? That's one of the reasons I don't run it.

Jigsaw- I agree with you.

tehmoe- I do like how Palkia can utilize multiple Crobat Gs without having to worry about bench space, but since I think Pearl Chomp Lock is the best way to run Palkia, finding space to put more than 1 Crobat G in can be pretty tight. Yeah, I know that this deck will lose a lot of power once Downer Material gets rotated out; I pushed to get this article in before Worlds and the rotation. Plox is a tough matchup, period. Even if you get the Power Lock on them, they can still Psychic Lock you back. Eventually, Gardevoir will just shut you down and overpower you. There is still the threat of Gallade, which can take out anything in the deck.

JasonHunJunFleshman- If you are really skilled, you can take down Luxray. However, it is rather difficult.

Denjin Hadou- Downer Material still applies to basic Pokemon Lv. X.

For one Team Typhoon thought of this deck about 4 months ago,it was called Parental Guidence, it was okay, but for sure will not be seen after the rotation.

seems Xatu UL is a better tech than mismagius. It can OHKO mewtwo with only 1 energy and gardevoir when belted
if you are throwing in a Unown G to guard Palkia G, which forces your opponent to attach more energy to machamp to go for hurricane punch or even rage. you can simply have a return ko with Xatu. you can usually take advantage from your opoonent's BTS so that you do everything in the same turn to give your opponent really a surprise

The big problem in this deck is Entei&Raikou LEGEND. Thunder Fall has the potential to KO multiple Pokemon in your deck, as well as heavily damage others. Unlike Pokemon-SP Lv. X, Entei&Raikou LEGEND is not affected by Downer Material.
False. Azelf MT now affects all "non evolved Pokémon" because the "basic Pokémon" denomination was doing confusion.

Do u have an MD- on version?

Pretty much the only change I'd make would be to drop an Azelf MT for an Ambipom G. Azelf MT is probably the only thing in the deck that actually give you an advantage in the LuxChomp matchup. Without it, the LuxChomp matchup swings wayyy into the favor of the LuxChomp player. I honestly don't think that this deck will stand up to LuxChomp after the rotation.

Nice avatar, by the way. ;) (it's the first time I've seen a post of yours.)
I think Garchomp C Lv. X looks cooler with red eyes, but that's just my opinion.
