Plasma Blast Elite Trainer Box revealed (as well as the set sell sheet)

Drop 2 boosters, add a deck box and couple of more dice and I would be very tempted to buy.

That lowers the price within the box.

Right now it's

65 Sleeves - easily $10 worth
Dice + Markers - $10 in trade value here
Energy Cards - cheap but useful handing out at league.
8 Booster Packs - $34 using the 4.25 like they are worth in blisters. $28 for 3.50

No matter how it adds up, you're getting your moneys worth.

The packs also have the best shot to even give you your money back with decent pulls.

There is one thing I hope this doesn't do, but MTG's fat pack did. Include more stuff for the sole reason to jack up the price. I hated MTG's fat pack for the sole reason they add boosters in it just to jack up the price, but I can understand, it is for the rich elite anyway.

Wait, elite trainer box, rich elite. I get it now.

If spending $40 on a product that comes out twice a year makes me rich, then by golly I am a millionaire!

And btw, anyone upset about getting energies, I give amazing rates for basic energies ;)

I'm saying that if these sleeves suck more than ultra pro sleeves, then it would be much more of a ripoff than if there were something else in it. Same deck boxes, playmats, whatever that is of lower quality than other brand name products.

Exobyte already said the quality will be good, sadly I never had the ones he referred to so I'm not sure how good, but I'm hoping it is similar to my Japanese Pokemon sleeves which have out lasted Ultra pro sleeves(which do their purpose for their price), by a fair bit, possibly too marked to to take to a big tournament after a year but still in 1 piece all 64 sleeves. I don't see it being in there to jack up the price, it's there because we asked for it.

I personally wont use the sleeves straight away because of how often stadiums end up in opponents deck, but I will keep them and use them once their use dies down(likely next ETB).

I think it's worth mentioning that you can always opt to double sleeve, making the quality of the sleeves in question more or less irrelevant.

No you can't. Double sleeves create marked cards.

Not to mention, quality of a product is always relevant whether or not you can spend more money to make something better. If I'm buying a product, it should be of a quality matching the price I'm paying. These sleeves should be great, after the feedback TPCi/P!P received on the last few rounds of pre-release sleeves.

As King Piplup said, it's up to the head judge. Double sleeving doesn't magically create marked cards, but if a marked card situation does arise it's of course treated as such. You just have to make sure your oversleeves are free of markings and replace them if the wear causes particular cards to become distinguishable, just like any other sleeves.

Certainly we all want these to be good quality sleeves, but if they do happen to have an unforeseen peeling issue or some other problem it can fortunately still be mitigated with double sleeving. That way you can still enjoy your sleeves without them being completely destroyed after a few games.

This might just be me personally, but I see novelty sleeves like these to be more for League or a smaller event like BRs, anyway. If I'm going into a big event I'm going to sleeve with something that I know is going to hold up and isn't as difficult to replace. KMC, Dragon Shield, etc.

It's up to the Head Judge, yes. But he is then told by the floor rules that it is specifically not allowed. So in all reality, it's not allowed. If a Head Judge allows double-sleeving, they are acting counter to the floor rules(And their "boss", P!P), which puts them at risk for bad things to happen, like them not Head Judging anymore or worse.

Double sleeving does "magically" create marked cards. There is no way to get a sleeve to fit exactly over every cut of sleeve. Air bubbles, folds, shifts, raised areas, all create marked cards. Purposely or not, those cards are marked.

What I like best about PokeGym is the ability for the community to take every high-quality thread and completely derail it with a tangential argument.

What I like best about the Elite Trainer Box is that TCPi seems to be listening to and responding to feedback, which will likely cause me to buy at least one more of the new box than I would have otherwise.

I don't tend to double sleeve at premier events anyway, as it makes the deck a bit too thick for my liking, but I've yet to find any direct mention of double sleeving being disallowed in any sort of tournament document. Are these the floor rules in question? Or is it a different document entirely?

The issues with double sleeving you've raised generally arise when using penny sleeves. Myself and many others that opt to double sleeve don't use penny sleeves but instead high quality oversleeves that are specifically designed to fit over a standard sized card sleeve. These have zero problems whatsoever; when playing it's almost as if they're not even there. No bubbles, raised areas, anything. The only downside is, as I mentioned before, they add a bit more thickness to the deck.

The point of contention is section 16 which states (among other things)

Card sleeves are allowed to be used at Pokémon Organized Play tournaments, provided that they meet
the following requirements:

...

 Each card sleeve contains only one card.

The argument is over whether this is just to prevent players from putting two cards into sleeves or if it in fact has the intent of stopping not only double cards but also double sleeving. It is up to the Head Judge how literally to apply the rule.

I just want to say thank you to everyone at the Pokemon company. It is very clear that you took the community's suggestions, and that is appreciated. It is also awesome that you guys are in contact with the community to ask us these questions. It is a major step in the right direction for Pokemon as a whole.

Yeah, pretty cool would be a stamp of the mascot Pokemon on the Energy cards, like the stamps
that Japanese reprints for events get:

http://pokevault.com/image/cache/da...FireEnergyJapanesePromoCard222BWP-500x500.jpg

Or an embossed outline of the mascot Pokemon for the set, like the Pre-Release stamps :thumb:

I think Id rather have something unique- like BW era HGSS style art energies... perhaps featuring legends that we have had as EXs like-
Resh/Entei(Fire),
Kyurem/Keldeo(Water),
Zekrom/Thundurus(Lightning),
Terrakion/Landorus(Fighting),
Cobalion/Regi(Steel),
Virzion/Shaymin/Genesect(Grass),
Darkrai(Dark),
Deoxys or Mewtwo(Psychic),
and perhaps 4 special DCE with Tornadus/Gigas.

AND it would be an incentive for people to buy more than one box :thumb:
