Pokemon Decklist Completion Program

Thanks, this is nice! I wish that I knew about this before league last night as I would have recommended it. I think the moderate performance version will be the most useful because it will be a great help to new players and parents of new players who find the blank list confusing and do not understand the set name and number. But I like that you have offered different versions to meet everyone's needs.

One suggestion that I have if it is easy to add would be to add options for saving the page and possibly editing the saved file. I currently use a Word decklist document for my family and it is so nice to simply print a new sheet without retyping everything or make a simple change to the list.
Thanks for the compliment!

At this time, saving the file is not possible because it was written in a language (javasript) that doesn't support writing to disk (for internet security reasons). In the future, I might write a version that can export to MS Word.

Steve, you have done the community a great service. Great job here.....

When new sets are released, will you be updating. Also, if it becomes available for download, how would we get the new sets? RE-Download?

Thanks for your efforts with this.

Jimmy
Thanks Jimmy!

I will do my best to keep it current. As of today, it is. When I make it available for download to run offline, I'll provide a method to update the data/image files, and to get new software versions.

WOW!! Great work? 2 questions though?
1) Is this legal? Can I actually use the list the program give me for a tourney?
2) What is the "favorite Pokemon" thing for?

-edit-

nevermind #2:rolleyes:
Thanks!
1) Yes, it's legal. We used it last weekend at our BR. Our PTO recommended it to our players.
2) The Favorite Pokemon feature was added to help players quickly and visually identify their own decklist. Plus, if a PTO has an unsorted stack of decklists and needs to find one, he can ask the player what his/her favorite pokemon is to help the PTO locate it out of the stack quicker.

looks great Steve my league kids are gonna love it I caught a minor error on Palkia LV X GE-106 the lv is lower case. Also could you create a spot for deck name?

BLiZz
Thanks Ken. I'll go fix the lower case typo.

You read my mind. I was just thinking about a spot for a deck name. I didn't consider it in the original design because it wasn't on POP's PDF decklist.

Give me some recommendations about where best position on the decklist would be.

Some questions...

Where are the checkboxes for special and basic energy?

Why do you have stuff for set numbers on trainers and energy? That's no longer on the decklists like it used to be.
The basic/special energy designation is part of the card name in this software. Try typing "Dark" in an energy "NAME" box. You'll see what I mean.

The set#'s for trainers and special energies are there to help the software is 2 respects: 1) the see if references are required for old versions of reprinted cards, and 2) to check for duplicate entries of the same card.

Steve, I was one of the folks that tested it, albeit on my own lists, not for any events.

This is one of the simplest programs I have found to make lists. Very impressed with this creation of yours.

Hopefully Dwayne passed that along to you.

Wayne

PS: I hope you don't mind, but I am advertising this on my site as well. See my sig for the site.
Thanks Wayne! Yes, Dwayne told you you liked it.

By all means, advertise.

Hope to see you this weekend sometime.

wow thats cool i will certainly like a version of this once its downloadable

do you have anyplans to do an unlimited version of this?

there are 2 places I see before favorite pokemon or after total cards. I more question is there a way to save a competed list?

BLiZz

Awesome work man! Being able to save the deck on a local computer is the missing link. I often tweak an old deck and I always file away old decks to reference when building new ones.

Any chance that this could get added to the Pokegym itself with yourself in an editor role? I'm not sure how such things happen but it would be great additional functionality for the gym. Maybe a password system to retrieve old decks or something like that.

That is a excellent program Steve. Thanks very much for doing it. Thats going to help me and so many other players very much.

Due to pop demand, I'm going to try to add file-open-save functionalily to the software asap. Though javascript lacks that ability, I'll try to make something work.

Sometime tonight, I'll upload version 1.1 which will include the ability to view the deck list in text format so that players can easily cut-n-paste into emails and internet forums.

Why in all blazing **** would you need an unlimited version?

Excellent program, by the way.

I think The Gorn has some competition in the decklist creation area!

I don't agree. Steve wins this HANDS DOWN.

Steve, that is a VERY impressive website. Really clever idea.

I even like the "Favorite Pokemon" pulldown (although my favorite, Helix Fossil, wasn't in there - just kidding).

I agree with people asking for the open/save feature, but other than that, I don't see anything else that it's lacking.

Let me know if I can make a link to it from the Pokepedia - it's truly fantastic.

I like this...it's an awesome idea. Would you mind if I played around with this and tried to leverage the concept to make something that would generate a PDF form from this?

Sure, that would be great. I'm not versed in PDF construction, yet. The javascript is pretty much all there in the core html source file (except for the card data and the card suggestion widget). The code that generates the print preview html starts in the print_decklist() function.

The file-open-save feature is coming, probably in the form of URL post data (techie talk), and the requirement by the user to use the browser's file-save function in order to save an html file with the post data.

I'll have version 1.1 up within the hour (text view of the deck list).

Thanks Gorn!

Send me good images of the fossils and I'll add them.

Feel free to post the link anywhere where pokemon players might be.

The link will be active at the URL listed in the first post for a fwhile. I want to get a few more features added before I give it to a couple more web sites to host (those sites yet to be announced).

more to come...

That's true, but, one of the things this software does is help find old re-prints that require outside references.

But, I see your point.

The "workaround" is to just leave the set# in the data-entry field when you enter the card (it's filled in automatically). For example, if you have several versions of Warp Point and don't want to list them separately on the decklist, just enter the total quantity in one row and pick the latest version of the card, leaving the set# that auto-fills after picking the card.
