Pokemon Prime or overpriced

The primes ARE 5$ on ebay, just look it up. Only donphan still is a bit more expensice. I think its kinda sad that there is nothing really worth it in sets anymore, I'd have a PR tomorrow but I skip since nothing that c ould come out of there boosters would be worth the entrance :(

Ya, I decided to buy a box, and aside from the Alph Lith, I doubt I could even sell what I got to make up the cost.

Allso, no Jumpluffs. : (

yeah it is easy isn't it. I wrote this thread like 2 and a half weeks ago, so.........

Primes are basically the new Lv X (which in turn were the new EX basically), so it's not unreasonable to see their prices hovering over $10. But yeah, once the tins come out, hopefully some'll drop in price.

Everyone, once you start selling your Primes for $4-$6, then I'll listen to what you have to say. But TBH, I really don't believe that if a kid walked up to you at League and asked you to sell him your Ampharos Prime for $5, you wouldn't do it.

I lol'd. You scarcely ever break even opening packs at $4.00 per. And yeah, outside of Donphan and Blissey (and Feraligatr that I would hold on to to see if that fancy Blastoise makes it playable), I wouldn't sell a Prime for much over $5.00. Especially if I was selling it to a kid at league. They're simply not worth that much. They're incredibly common (relative to your odds of getting any one holo rare from the set -- e.g. Jumpluff) and for the most part mediocre. All they have going for them is that they're a bit more shiny, really.

Edit: if you hold out Donphan and Blissey, you're left with what, four primes. Ampharos, Meganium, Feraligatr, and Typhlosion. They're all varying degrees of mediocre (save for Meganium which is just bad. Nice art though). Factor in that three of those four are going to be put in tins and yes, I would feel like a con man selling those primes for more than $4-6. The legends will go down as supply increases because they're simply not playable.

I lol'd. I think many people would take exception to your description of Feraligatr and Typhlosion as "mediocre," and I think even more people would take exception to your apparent idea that Blissey is somehow good. Blissey is awful compared to Typhlosion and Feraligatr, IMO. I agree with your statement that Meganium is just plain bad. Either way, though, keep this in mind. Although the odds of pulling any Prime from the set are greater than pulling a specific holo, the odds of pulling a specific Prime are lower than those of pulling a specific holo. I have pulled several Jumpluffs, but no Donphan Primes, of course. I've had to trade for the Donphans.

If you want to sell me Primes for $4-$6 shipped (even Meganium!) I'll take it in a heartbeat.

Shipped? I didn't think so. Buy-it-now? I didn't think so. Seriously. No one here is going to sell their Primes for $5 shipped.

most holos are rarer than primes, right?
6 prime a box, usually one of each, 12 holos a box and 14 holos with 12 holos a box? is that correct? less because a legend?

it seems harder to pull a pokmon like arcanine, slowking, or jumpluff than meganium prime, or blissey prime. i know only a few of the holos are worth mentioning, and that makes acquiring good holos like jumpluff that much harder.

I fixed the Ampharos Prime statement so what it reads as actually supports your argument.

They can take exception to the statement all they want. Truth hurts. Blissey, at least, has an arguable place in decks like Donphan and Gyarados, both of which will actually have and will arguably impact the meta.

And enlighten me as to how the odds of pulling a specific prime are worse. There are six prime in the set. You pull, on average, six prime per box. While you could of course pull doubles and whiff on a prime, let's compare that to Holo rares. If I recall correctly, the pull ratio for holo rares is 1 per 3 packs. There are 13 holo rares in the set. Factor in that RH copies increase chances, but the number of Primes that take their spot decrease chances, and it comes out to be a wash or just about barring a flaw in my logic in comparing relative pull rates. Nice anecdote.

I wouldn't sell you primes for $4-6 shipped. I'd sell them to you in person for $4-6. Shipping and related costs add up.

Wait, so if I gave you a 20, you would give me 5 Primes? Hmm, deal.

Speaking from personal experience, I have had far better luck pulling certain holos than certain Primes. Additionally, and I know some of you aren't making this out to be the case, but statistically, Jumpluff is not harder to pull than any other rare holo in the set. I could be wrong, but I really haven't seen that at all.

So we're talking one Prime every six packs. One of each Prime per box, on average. If you open a box, I'm counting on you pulling more than one of each holo. I rest my case.

Give me 2 months and I'll be shipping over 5 meganium primes from the tins.

WHAT?! There was no stipulation on all being Meganium (from a tin nonetheless). I will take a Gatr (1 tin, 1 pack), Blissey, Typhlosion pack, and a Meganium pack.

I would ask for Donphan, but I am being reasonable.

Please don't speak without doing your proper research. A single search on eBay brings up a ton of PRIME pokemon going for $5 Buy-It-Now with some of them with $1-$2 shipping. I see a few Meganium PRIME going for $4. Of course Feraligater and Donphan are higher.

So we're talking one Prime every six packs. One of each Prime per box, on average. If you open a box, I'm counting on you pulling more than one of each holo. I rest my case.

You get a holo in every 3 packs. 36 packs = 12 holos. There are 13 holos in HGSS. That means that you may not even pull 1 of every holo, and that doesn't take account for if the LEGEND or PRIME or Gyarados/Alph cards take the place of the holo in the pack.

well, increased numbers always increases variance, so we have to concede that some boxes will be scarce of some holos like pluff while others wont, while the primes are nearly exactly 1 of each per box. or at least 6 per case, from what i have heard from pulls. the consistency of getting a box and having nearly all the primes, and trying to get a box with all distinct holos- because otherwise you will get repeats, and the repeats wont be the jumpluff the majority of the time. yes, there are about 12 holo slots for 13 holo cards, but it isnt with the strong consistency that we see in the randomization of the primes, making it less consistent/more difficult to get (out)/harder?

more than one of each holo? there are 13 holos and 12 holos a box. why are you COUNTING on getting more than one of each when that is statistically very difficult to do? Let's say some of the RHs will be the holos, that might make it to 14-15 cards, and it is still randomization of the packs for what holos come up.

there was no stipulation whatosever. he said pokemon prime for 4-6, and you said 5 prime for 20, and i said yes. the deal was for 5 prime, you definitely wouldnt get to choose if we brought this to court. and you also get them from the packs!? but we know half the primes are coming out in tins...

loljk

Looks like the prices are pretty dead on for what PFB was describing and this is just as the cards are being released, and before there are tins out there. we can expect the market to probably continue this trend and round to about.... 4-6 bucks.

Actually, the rarity for Holos is worse than that. There are 12 holo spots in any given box, right? you state there are 13 Holos in this set, but that isn't true. If you include the Legends, Alph Lithograph, and Gyarados (all of which can take a Holo spot only), there are 19 Holos in this set for 12 Holo spots in a box.

I actually LOVE it when the regular Holos are less rare than the Chase cards. Holos will rarely ever sell for much outside of those that are deemed "good" for play, while the Chase cards will get their obligatory Chase price bump but otherwise won't sell for very much.

I can see the 'Gatr,Typhlosion, and Meganium being that low.
But The other will not be released in tins.

And you are NOT guaranteed 1 of each prime per box, who ever told you that is very wrong.

Theres been a lot of people saying that, so I don't know who to believe really.

So far, out of several people I know of who have opened boxes, not one of those boxes has completely excluded any holo. Generally, two or so of most holos were pulled. I actually did run an eBay search for Primes, and I couldn't find a single one that was ≤$5 shipped. Yes, I see Primes going for $7-$8 shipped, but I didn't see any literally going for $5 shipped.

Statistically, you may be right. Perhaps a certain holo is harder to pull than a certain Prime. But to be honest, that's not what the boxes I've seen so far have reflected.

Also, if we consider how easy DCE is to pull and how much it's going for, it's absurd to call Primes overpriced.

...... your right, I opened a box today and got one of each prime except I got 2 Meganiums. well maybe its not guaranteed to get one of each, but still its 6-7 primes per box.
