PokeRadar shinies! Best method ever!

It's hard to keep a chain, sometimes i get a different one in the chain to break it. Other times it just stops, meaning i get no more ruffles of grass.

I did pretty good for a while with Tyrogue, better than any others so far. But when it breaks, i reset having saved right on the grass.

Wish i knew, but i was wondering if it was because i was on the edge of the grass. But i've also had it happen in the middle too.

OK, below are the steps on what everyone’s first attempt at shiny hunting with the PokeRadar, as it was mine and it really allowed me get familiar with it and see exactly how it worked. Everyone’s first shiny target should be Shinx on Route 203.

First off, you will need the following:

PokeRadar – Obvious tool, register it to the button Y on your DS.

XXXx Max Repels – These are essential for you NOT to encounter random wild Pokemon aside from the ones the PokeRadar makes shake, so they do not break your chain.

XXx Pokeballs of any kind – Since we are going to try this for Shinx, you can get pimp and catch it with whatever PokeBall you most like. I chose a Premiere Ball but any work with such a low level Pokemon.

Those 3 items are ESSENTIAL to catching shiny Pokemon, and the ones listed below certainly help you ALOT when trying to catch this shiny Shinx:

1 Static ability Pokemon in the front of your party – This attracts lightning type Pokemon and reduces the odds of either Bidoof or Starly breaking your chain. It is best to have this Pokemon at a high level and with moves that have lots of PP and is able to OHKO all the Shinx’s, if you do not have one, then bring a very low level Static Pokemon, and let it faint, but have it at the front of your party, this way Static will work but you can use a different Pokemon to KO the Shinx’s.

1 Pokemon that knows False Swipe – Makes catching Shinx alot easier, but at such a low level it is not required.

And now these are the rules you MUST follow to have the best chances of catching Shinx:

First the regular PokeRadar rules:

- Always make sure you can clearly see 4 patches of grass shaking.
- Always remember to use a Max Repel when it runs out/when you start.
- Always go to the farthest patch that is the same ‘shaking’ type as the one you first started your chain with.
- Never go to a patch that is on the edge or close to an object (tree, sign, ledge, person etc.)

And now this is a special rule or more like a note/hint to make chaining some Pokemon easier:

- In every route there are certain ‘exclusive PokeRadar’ Pokemon. These only appear in the GOLD shaking patches, so if your target is NOT one of these ‘exclusive PokeRadar’ Pokemon, then try to avoid starting a chain with these patches and use the regular shaking ones. This reduces the odds of other Pokemon interrupting your chain. In Route 203, where you should staret chaining Shinx’s, your chain could get interrupted by a Bidoof or Starly, but if you walk into one of these gold patches, it could be interrupted by a Sentret as well.

So now that you know all this, get to work! Go to Route 203, put a Static Pokemon on the first party slot and go to regular shaking patches, on the biggest grass area on Route 203, you can’t miss it, there is just one distinctively larger than all the others. Also try doing this at night, as Shinx’s are more common then.

When you manage to get your chain up to 40, stop chaining and simply walk 50 teps and reset the radar continually. You will eventually see the shiny patch, and it is very easy to spot as it is very different from the others. Some of you might be lucky and find the elusive shiny before you reach 40, but your goal should ALWAYS be 40 no matter your target. I myself have found shiny’s on the 20th and 27th and 30th chain, but my aim has always been to reach to 40.

Finally, the last hint/note: if you find your first shiny, keep going! Some people have found up to 11-13 shinies from the same chain! I myself have found 3 Starly’s 2 Bidoof’s and 2 Larvitars all from their respective chains.

This is how I caught my first PokeRadar shiny, and then I went on to get 10 more!

Best of luck to everyone! Don’t be discouraged if your chains break, keep trying!

Back to back posts merged. The following information has been added:

Why is it that Bidoof is the poke ruining my chances at a long Chain?!?

IE: I just had another Bidoof end a 13 Starly Chain....

Well for common Pokemon like Biddof and Starly I'll list what IMO are the best areas:

Rout 202: Bidoof and Starly (non Gold patches).
Route203 at night: Shinx.

And that's all I can think of XD. Swarm Pokemon are Route exclusive and so are Radar exclusive Pokemon. Do you wanna know of any others?

BTW I myself chained Bidoof because I was sick of getting my Starly chains broken by them =P.

I just want to say that Max Repels are an absolute waste of money. Unless they do something extra other than repel wild pokemon that the Super Repel doesn't do. Super Repel is MUCH more cost efficient, only p500, when the Max Repel is p700, and only gives you 50 more steps (250 total). Let's say, 10 Max Repel you spend p7000, you'll get 2,500 steps covered. For Super Repel, spending p7000, you get 14, making it 2,800 steps of coverage. 400 step difference anyone?

Of course this is all null and void if Max Repel has some extra, unspecified property.

It does, you open your bag less. With amulet coin money is like no issue anyway.

Starting a chain works fine for me its just figurin out when a shiny has popped up in bush, its kinda hard for me to tell....anyone have any better vids or pics of the shiny bushes?

I got a Shiny Shellos (Blue) on my second chain. I am still getting more Shinies through this method.

Ok, how is this possible. I was trying to make a Chain of Abra's, and the second Pokemon i see is a Kirlia. But it's Level 6!!! Ralts doesn't evolve into Kirlia until level 20. I'm going to catch it just because, but has anyone seen this kind of thing yet?
