Post-Release MarioKart Wii Discussion [SPOILERS]

This is an extension of Mario Kart DS, and I'm assuming you mean normal turtle shells aka red shells.
Just like MK DS, you can hold shells, bannanas, fake item boxes, behind your kart. If it's a shell or bannana, it will block the red shell.
 
LOL I know that, that happens in every Mario Kart game =P but no I'm pretty sure I literally crashed into that bulky looking Kart with my 3 Green Shells surrounding me and nothing happened.
