Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Professor Cup 09 info up!

This format sounds like a blast. Something really different. But, if the rest of the show is anything like last year, I may only play 1 round - last year I dropped to help run the Modified tournament.

*tear*

so sad I won't be there this year, due to scheduling conflict...but have fun ya'll - good luck to all that will be participating!!!

Limited format should be pretty good with PT2, with something like 38 SP Pokemon in the set. They're not all necessarily "playable," but it's nice that you can pull a good card and put it straight into your deck without having to worry about pre-evolutions. This set has some pretty decent stage 1's too.

I might actually be able to join the fun this year. I haven't been able to go to Nationals any of the previous years due to work or research, but with the summer between undergraduate studies and graduate school, I may just take the whole summer off and relax. This sounds like a really fun format.

I can't wait. I love drafting, and it sounds like we'll get to meet a great group of people. Hooray for our first nats!

S0........ does the 75 points include points I've already spent this year? Or do I need 75 points in my account at the time of the professor's cup?

Just wondering.........

This is my first year being a professor. I am also trying to get out there to be in the professor cup!:thumb:

I was sort of hoping that the rules would be similiar to last year's where we have to create our own decks. As people who me can tell you, I am a mad scientist with making decks. I have no luck at drafts...

Also, what packs are we going to be drafting with? Given the timing of the Professor Cup. I think it may be the pack that we get between Regionals and Spring Battle Roads.

I'd love to contribute. I'd just rather not contribute in a 2 hour drive each way every week. Hopefully the local league will be a bit better in the next season.
That's exactly my problem. =/

I think they don't want the same thing to happen as last year. In Europe, there has been one card dominating the format, much worse than Plox dominated Modified. As a consequence the card has been banned in the US Professor Cup. If they make some constructed format with limitations, they would risk to have such a gap again. They can't be aware of anything if they create a new format just for one tournament. So imho it's more fun to have a format which is a little luck based, than to build a good deck for the cup (I played Breloom/Donphan which has won in the US Profcup) but go 3-3 because of losing 3 times to the broken Wormadam. PUI wants us to have a tournament that's fun and full of variety, and limited is the best way to prevent repeating of last year's problems.:thumb:

I see. I remember that they banned Wormadam for last year's pro cup. I think Stuntank may have been broken since its an common. I guess I have to work on my pack opening skillz! :thumb:

Great date for the European Professor Cup (not :frown:)...

It's in the middle of the school holidays.

If I was in any financial position to go to nationals this year, I would be so excited to play in this tournament.
This is just my opinion but I'd hate to try n' shuffle up so many cards without sleeves for the draft. I'm just picky about card condition sometimes, LOL.

11 July is the Belgian National Holiday!
So for all people attending the European Professor Cup: take into account that almost everything will be closed for the celebrations.

Each player receives 8 booster packs? So people will be soloman drafting with 16 booster packs? 160 cards? Each player will have 80 cards after the draft to make a 40 card deck (including energy)? Wow. So each player will be using less than 50% of the cards they draft (figuring in energy into the 40 card deck). I guess we will have more cards to work with, especially if you consider that we will be choosing cards from all 16 packs to make our decks (depending on if we get to choose first or second).

We play with our 40 card deck until Swiss is over, and then shuffle our 80 cards in with our Single Elimination first round opponent to make another 40 card deck? Interesting.

It doesn't say that you'll be drafting vs your first SEF round opponent.
