Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Prom

For those of you who have never been to one: make sure you get a date that you'll have fun with and make sure you ask early enough for the date to buy a dress or tux.

For those of you who have: do you remember what it was like?

Why bother bring a dress or a tux? I had no interest to go to prom... until I was offered money to go. I am going in a normal t-shirt and jeans... but with duct tape all over. I am making myself an entire suit out of duct tape. I will be able to win a large scholarship for doing so... much better than bringing a petty date that will only lead to pointless drama to a place with smelly high schoolers wiggling in a tightly enclosed space. You can expect me to go to compete, but end up hanging in my school's janitorial office playing board games with the intelligent students (who are doing the exact same thing as me).

The concept of high school relationships is absurd to be honest. Very few of these relationships ever go anywhere, and usually end up in drama. Moreover, the amount of money spent on dances is absurd. In any normal culture, spending a large amount of money for an outfit that one will only wear once and on a person one will barely care for in the future would be considered insane. Even so, high schoolers think that this is much more important than it is. Don't go unless you have a darned good reason to go (like me :D).

Well, I recommend that you do go. I had a great time at my prom and that was the only school dance I ever went to in high school. I took a girl and we dated for a bit after that. There was no drama involved on either of our ends and we both had an amazing time. Definitely never regret going.

While I agree with you to a degree, I'd have expected considerably greater eloquence from you, to be honest. A high percentage of our viewers are probably in high-school or near high-school age, and blanketing them with this generalization is offensive and crude.

High schoolers are prone to overreacting to their emotions, causing unnecessary drama, and other very, very relationship-damaging behaviors, and it does mean any relationship that is started in high school is not likely to make it out. This does not make the concept pointless.

I had no relationships in high school. And now that I'm in a very, very serious one, I almost wish I had had some prior relationships - just so I could have gotten a feel for how they're supposed to work, and what kinds of things to watch out for. It would have made the first year or so much easier on both of us.

@OP:
Prom is cool for some people. I didn't go, though, primarily due to lack of date and antisocialism. I did go to some after-dance activities once or twice (getting late night Denny's dinners, bowling, trolling wal-mart, what have you).

Quoted for truth. It's like I'm the only sane one at my school.

We don't have prom but I don't even want to go to my grad, so I doubt I'd go to prom.

My school didn't have a prom, but my church put one on and it was awesome! My date and I spent next to nothing, as my dress was given to me by my supervisor at work (but if she hadn't I would'a got one from a local thrift store) and he just wore a suit he already had. We went out to Leatherby's and that was probably the biggest expense. It was a BLAST.

And then we dated for a while. That was also great, but we aren't anymore and that's okay too.

But really, it's not the high school relationships that are drama-ridden, imo, but the first ones you go through because that's when you figure things out, both how to deal with another person and what you even want from a relationship. Hopefully. Exceptions exist, but as a general rule it's pretty consistant.

This is the part where the arguement gets bad...

Eh, dated once in High School, didn't last long and, overall, think that relationships this early are a bit overrated.

When I'm a Junior tho, I'll probably go to prom single as a joke and cosplay as Beedrill or something, idk.

My friend and I went to prom and had a blast. Just make sure to read up on chivalry before hand though even if you're only friends.

My prom is tomorrow. I usually don't like dances, but I'm actually excited for it. Maybe it's just the fact that it's my last dance in high school ever. EVER. And I'm going to with a group of good friends to dinner beforehand. It's gonna be a lot of fun. :D

I'm just gonna throw this out here... you will get beat up soooo much for that.

Anyways, I'm gonna go to prom when I'm older and I'm gonna enjoy it. So what. It's all good in the hood baby!

I alraedy walk around my school like a ninja with multiple meme shirts like Over 9000, my 1st place RPS shirt, and other things, occassionally with a tie and vest for no reason. Everyone knows who I am, and they don't care.

You might not care about Prom but quite a few other people in your class do so show some respect, don't be an idiot, and let them have their night.

I'm certainly not going to ruin anyone's night by not taking it seriously. just going for the lulz.

well I wasn't quite sure you are without a doubt in my mind the most pointless poster on this site, I was hoping it didn't carry over to real life.

Not if he has real drills!

I can see it now.

News anchor: Last night at a Texas prom, seventeen teenagers were killed by a young man apparently know as "that beedrill g guy." He was dressed as a popular bakugon, beedrill, who has long spikes for hands. The killer murdered the teens with these spikes, all the while screaming "DONKED! DONKED!" When asked for a comment, he yelled "I AM FUELED BY REDBULL AND YOUR BROKEN DREAMS!"
