Why everybody says the promo tepig is soo good?
well i mean burned for one C is OK but have to flip for it? the HP is same and so is retreat

well ok you can burn sleaping baby pokemon but i dunno if you want to be in this exact spot when your burning with your activ tepig . . and for a flip xD

If you have to attack with a tepig then I would rather do 10 damage. If it hits the right pokemon then it could let you save a pluspower for another attack.

You're absolutely right about this card! Very overrated.
(Now trade me all your Tepig promos... mwuahahaha)

What makes promopig good? The option to burn to stop an actives power or burn a baby to make them have switch or gamble with going down a prize and losing their starter turn2. Its not a main plan type of thing its more of a i start a tepig and have a crap hand type of thing and if that happens I want to be able to disrupt rather than damage :)

Black & White Preview Tins. They came with one of the 3 starters and a matching figure.

That's not the promo Tepig everyone's talking about. The one in the tin is BW02, and it's just a reprint of Tepig #16 from B&W. This discussion is about BW07, which isn't a reprint.

So far I've seen the card in three different packages. At one Target it was in a blister pack with one booster and one sampler, and it was being sold with the other impulse buys in the checkout lanes. At another Target, it was in a package style I haven't seen before. The packaging was kind of rounded, and it had three B&W boosters, a sampler, and a coin. It was being sold on the aisle with all the other trading cards. At Wal-Mart, they had it in the standard three-booster plus coin blister.

I don't really like the flippyness either, but when making a deck, I'd put in a split of both the promo and the tackle one, just to have options.
I'd say the Tackle Tepig is a tiny bit better than the promo, but just a tiny bit. That 10dmg is worth surprisingly much in this format.
Posted with my Android, but in Desktop style... weird huh.

Unless you can prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that he has complete control and can always flip what he wants at any moment in any situation, you can't force him not to flip his coin. Doesn't matter if he flips eight straight tails or eight straight heads. He's entitled to use a coin as a randomizer.

Both players have to agree with what randomizer to use. So one can object to their opponent using a coin.

I'm pretty sure I could have them flip a judge's coin/dice if I tell the judge that I feel he's got loaded dice (or a coin). My post wasn't completely relevant to the matter in hand though, since they're saying that they can flip heads on any coin. This should be pretty hard if going by the rules (coin has to flip 5 times, was it?), but I guess it's possible.
It is a skill, its not meant to be 50-50.
You've understood something very wrong here... It's used as a randomizer, and it's meant to be random
70-30 isn't random.

Incorrect. Only non-Pokemon coins, like local currency, must be agreed upon by both players. It's in section 17.5 of the Pokemon Tournament Rules.

Otherwise, players are free to use either a coin or die, including the opponent's.

If the coin or die meets the specifications set out in the Tournament Rules, I don't see how you could just based on a feeling, not without the player consenting to it.
But since I'm new at judging, I'd welcome someone's more experienced input.

P.S. A coin just needs to flip 3 times in the air. It's all in the Tournament Rules.

Yeah, the only reason I can think of running this would be for the Burn against Cleffa, but given that Cleffa is just as likely to explode and not get to stay asleep, kind of a moot point (not to mention I think these babies are gonna go the way of a dodo when any half-decent starter comes out). Besides, no one will want to linger around in Tepig form, so really any can be used as you want to evolve into Emboar right away.
