This is what we were told at Worlds 06 its not official till you shuffle.

This is the only time I've heard it announced but that has always been the general "agreement" at all the tournaments I've atteneded.

It was ruled by POP in the POP forums that it is the shuffle of the deck that indicates that the search has been finished.

Yeah, the shuffle is what I've always thought should be the "point of no return" when doing a deck-search action, though I don't know how to apply that rule when searching your discard pile. That's the reasoning the judge used against me (the discard-search analogy) some years ago for the Celio's Network ruling. "Once you show your opponent, you've made your choice." The act of laying cards out in the open was "showing my opponent my choice." This was a few years ago, before there was an official POP ruling about deck searching.
