After the whole Maryland stink that Michael Reynolds and everyone raised about a fellow Ohioan named Stephen Davis for winning a second State Championship, I would think that he would now be ashamed.
I just want to say that if the reason that Michael Reynolds played in the 11-14 was reflected upon my decision to compete in the Top 8, then that's pretty frickin' lame. Like I said in my earlier post, I didn't intend to waste $300 to stoke my ego. Especially after I voiced my opinions on Chuck's post.
I had no intention of JUDGING the whole frickin' weekend. I judged in Virginia Saturday, and played a ROGUE deck yesterday. I cannot help that my deck went 5-0 in Swiss. If there was direct reprocussions for my playing to play, then fine. But I would think that after all of the pressure and anger directed towards Stephen Davis, that Michael Reynolds is now a hypocrite.
I'm calling it how I see it. I debated for a long time on what the right thing to myself and the other players. I didn't want to step on any toes, or cause waves amongst my Southern friends. But this post I know will, and I'm not posting this out of anger, just disgust. Jeff, if you hold this against me, than so be it.

Jim Ferrell said:Jeff,
First of all, the whole "where I wanted to play" aspect was thought out and discussed long before this weekend. I had never competed in South Carolina. I've won in Virginia TWICE already. Why do I have to prove myself there? Besides, I didn't want to compete both days, nor did I want to compete both days.
I was teasing you about Sensei. True, I did know Sensei would mind about previous State Champs from competing, and probably say something. He's done it before. You told me you had enough judges. So what do you want me to do? Sit around all day?
All and all, the reaction from Mike getting mad about someone doing what he later did himself isn't very cool. I mean, like I said, it's different how others win several. But they don't condemn it, then do it themselves.
I will apologize for my tone, I was harsh. I also apologize for using the last names of the minor players. I didn't think about it. I edited my previous post.
Jeff, I respect you and your family immensely. You do a lot of good work down here, and I'd be lying if I said I didn't appreciate it. I'm just surprised that this was allowed to take place, especially since I defended Michael from the nasty comments from the Ohioans he angered by his display. Also, I asked him myself if he was going to win a second one before I came down this weekend and he told me he wouldn't be allowed.
Other than this whole debacle, the tournament was very well run and the day was very fun.

Pokemon USA should take a seriously hard look at this. As this game stands right now, there is a ridiculous amount of ego and greed driving players. If Nintendo is serious about this "spirit of the game (TM)" the FIRST thing they should do for the upcoming Regionals is institute a policy that if you win a Regional, you cannot compete in any other.
If they don't, their SoTG is nothing more than a joke.
Even though I won KY yesterday, and am attempting to volunteer to judge in VA, I WILL be competing to win in South Carolina simply because I've never, ever played in SC before.

I'm not even going to BOTHER arguing with this. -_-
Way to go, Supertyranitar!
SuperWooper: Every one is entitled to their own opinion.
Those in the Top 8, any of them were deserving of winning, whether it been Dave M, Ben T, Steph B, or even Patrick W, and if I had made the finals with any of them, I'd dropped. I honestly mean that.
