Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Spare Change

Again, Primeape was just left to train. Just like Charizard. Lapras was just a baby, so Satoshi took care of it until they found its parents, just like he promised they would do. Larvitar was never his to begin with. The egg was to be taken care of by Satoshi and see if they could find the parents. I already clarified the issue with Butterfree. Togepi CHOSE Kasumi to be it's "mother". Togepi completely ignored Satoshi, so it'd be rather useless for him to have it. Especially since Togepi really does nothing through out the entire series until it evolves into Togetic and protects Mirage Island. Using Metronome was just a playful thing that it had no idea it was doing an attack. One of those random/lucky breaks.

And it's really their choice on what they want and don't want to capture. Sometimes they'll be forced to capture certain Pokémon.

Satoshi captured Muk to keep it from attacking the gang in the power plant. He tried capturing the Fearow that terrorized the Pidgey and Pidgeotto of Viridian Forest to try and stop it, but failed. He captured Snorlax so it would stop eating all the fruit from the Orange Islands. Tailow was captured so it would stop fighting Pikachu before both of the Pokémon became hurt badly. Heck, Primeape was fought and captured so they wouldn't have to run away anymore.

last time i checked, this was created by people........... i would just like to see some capturing once in a while......... it's like a huge event if anyone captures anything................. look at the cacnea/seviper episodes..........

arbok had always been useless, even when it evolved.......... that lone day when it was supposed to make TR stronger, it still got tossed around

i just think the writers could make the show a little better, i occasionally see it, get dissappointed with it and then stop caring and try to find looney tunes or just go back to sleep.............

BTW you guys, Ash was only in the Orange Islands for the summer. Not 1.5 years. :)

ETR is right about Ash's Pokemon. You have to consider their feelings or you are a selfish trainer and person. Just like after Ash caught Treeko he asked if it wanted to come with them. However, I do agree that more Pokemon should be caught more often.

Maybe the Japanese writers will surprise us and we will meet Primeape again. I did see a Hoenn episode picture page at SPP with the Grand Prix medal or something (it was something that had to do with the Grand Prix). That could be foreshadowing that guy coming to Hoenn with Primeape to compete in a Grand Prix tourny and giving back Primeape to Ash.

WPM___ apparently my sarcasm isn't reaching anyone.......... ARGGG

well how could i be a bad trainer............ when i was 10 i must've been late for the ethics class for pokemon trainers............ i probably slept in.......... i do that a lot for my calculus classes............

oh wait calculus??? ARGGGGG........ derivatives, integrals, limits............. AAARRRGGGGG!!!!!!!

now i'm thinking............... D'OH!!!!

What about Pidgeot? It was just supposed to stay there while he went to get the GS ball, and he'd get it on the way back. Of course, he got sidetracked by the whole Orange Islands thing, but he never went back for it, or even let it know what was going on. If I were Pidgeot, I'd be worried that something had happened to him and gone to find him. If the writers just wanted Pidgeot off the show or something (I can't imagine why), why didn't they have him leave it there permanently, instead of saying he'd come back for it? That one's bothered me for a while..........

Yes, i agree. They must start capturing a little more and giving away a little less. At the most, they should just deposit their pokés rather than ditch em.

Here's my patent-pending theory on why the pokés are given away so frequently: They get rid of em cuz they get so strong, it would allow Ash to wail on anyone to the point where it's impossible to make him out to be the underdog ever. Also, it creates variety much like a set rotation of cards. You can keep fresh faces up, and gracefully (or not) retire the older guys, think Pokémenudo! So from a writers' perspective, it allows for new stories.

Let's try thinking on the brighter side....who is gone that you DON't miss?

Tauros!!!
Primape!!!
Beedrill!!!

Who do u miss?
Pidgeot!!!--come on! we waited forEVER to see you evolve, and then your gone!
Charmeleon!!!--like two episodes and then your gone?!! What a rip!
Squirtle!!!---u beat Toto anyday, sorry
Growlithe!!!---okay, so ur James' and u were in one ep and u are the trademark poké of the Rockets' enemy (the Fuzz), but we still miss you!
And that's about it for this installment.

Who do I miss?

Lapras -- I liked the whole surfing thing in Orange
Butterfree -- The first Pokemon he got to evolve, holds some sentamental value
Pidge-ot/-otto -- Both of them, they were really the first capture he made, and they were his most loyal Pokemon
Charizard -- I loved the entire "lazy" theme with him

yeah, i definetly like how the Chari relationship works out tho. He doesnt really belong to Ash so much anymore, but when it counts, Chari comes back for more.

It's like a symbol of how much Ash has...well, advanced...as a trainer. He can command Chari and Chari respects him. A cool theme, and that's not even mentioning the sheer power Chari brings.

The lazy thingw as actually kinda annoyin to me...I hated that even tho Ash had plenty of badges, Chari would still shrug him off.

I think that the writers ditched many of the pokemon just to show off new ones.
Squirtle left and Charizard left, then totodile and cyndaquil, chikorita and noctowl came.

Also, even though charizard doesn't stay with Ash, anymore, whatever happened to the 6 pokemon rule? Whenever Charizard comes back, Ash has 7 pokemon.

I don't think he keeps Zard in a Pokeball, just lets him go where he wants.

good point with the 6+ thing....

U know, something i noticed while watching the DigiMovie today on ABC Fam was that they had a good deal of actual fights.

Didnt Pokéshow start out with a good number of actual physical contact in fights before? As they entered Johto, the physical contact got more and more replaced with those big, obnoxious "slam" pictures. U know the ones, they look like...i dunno...splashes of blood, but they are usually white on a black background, or there are colorful stars that replace the point of contact in the fights.

They started returning to actually showing the pokés come in contact with each other when they fight when the new animation kicked in...or did i imagine all this?

In the Pokémovies, there is definately physical contact between fighters, check out the first movie...nice and gritty. I think they should keep it up. Does anyone even prefer the toned down variant of the US' "biff," "pow," "zowie?"

Wait, Tauros? Last I checked, he had about 30 of them. The one he used in the Orange League is back at Oak's place. o_O Usually when it comes to Charizard, Satoshi never really uses Charizard's Pokéball. Move 3, Charizard shows up and saves Satoshi and helps him battle Entei. Though it's still Satoshi's, there's no Pokéball involved. Johto League comes up. Satoshi once again has Charizard out of its ball and just orders it to battle like Pikachu.

And it's true, 4Kids has been using the '70s Batman-like *POW* signs. Example being with the Treecko episode. Treecko smacks the Rocket Gang in their faces and either a cut-away is done or a flash is shown. It's been the most recent thing now-a-days.

reminds me of the old batman show............ no not the cartoon............. THE REAL BATMAN TV SHOW

man i feel old now................ who else feels old with me and remembers that show?
