Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

States and rogues

beat gallade and magmortar :[

well ive also looked at some perdy birdys
what do people think of staraptor and pidgot? they both have :fighting: resistance too!

I think both Garchomp and PorygonZ decks are worth looking at, even though the former dies to Blissey and the latter dies to G&G, both decks can be teched and suited to specific metagames, allowing them to deal extra damage.

Well guys I played against x2 today...jimmy won in like 3 turns. It beats the meta completely. I am one of the victims. BANGINBOX is rogue...and we will see you guys at states

I have a feeling that after the first few state tournaments there will be a deck or two that will rise up and challenge G&G and Magmortor. If that happens you can expect a mad house of people trying to copy that deck for their state tournament because the Pokemon TCG is a copy-cat league. We see decks that are successful and we copy them and then tweak them to our local metagame and play style.

However I still expect G&G and Magmortor to take a good amount of the State Tournaments with a few Rogue decks being competitive but placing like 2-4 place.

I acually want to test Altaria GE out. Gallade has problems with it, and even Magmortar has problems, though it is a primary Gallade counter. Look. -20 damage from Resistance, -30 for it's second attack, -10 from Drake's Stadium = Gallade has to flip four Prizes to OHKO it. And don't say Sonic Blade, Unown G stops it. I MAY try it with Darkrai/Dugtrio CG/Weavile SW, Weavile makes him Dark and speeds up Energy, Darkrai adds at least +30 to his 60 attack and Dugtrio stops Magmortar from sniping (this means that Fireball Bazouka does absolutly nothing). Also, Mag X can then only use either Flame Bluster, which only does 60 to Altaria, or the only viable attack choice, Mag's first attack, and I might add in a Beach or two. So, acually, Mag and Gallade may have a hard time dealing with it.

Gallade has to flip over 4 Prizes to KO Altaria, no matter how you look at it. Whether it means one-shotting Altaria, two-shoting, whatever, because Altaria REDUCES damage. Here's a table of how much damage Gallade can do to Altaria with Psychic Cut, with Drake's Stadium in play:

0 Prize Cards flipped = 0 damage
1 Prize Card flipped = 20 damage
2 Prize Cards flipped = 40 damage
3 Prize Cards flipped = 60 damage
4 Prize Cards flipped = 80 damage
5 Prize Cards flipped = 100 damage
6 Prize Cards flipped = 120 damage

As you can see, after Galade has KOed one Altaria, he becomes quite useless. So, then they bring up Gardy X? Well, there is a problem. I have already hit Gallade for 90 at least. This means they are forced to use Psychic Lock, unless they want to give me a free Prize. Psychic Lock will only do 30 damage to me. Not going to make a difference. So, really, I think Altaria has quite a good matchup against G&G.

Now, looking at Magmortar might seem a little ambitious, but, they really only have one viable attack once you get det up. Fire Blast. Beach hurts it severly, however, so this becomes harder to use. Delcatty ex might spell trouble though, doing 100+ damage will kill Altaria. However, Altaria then comes up to take 2 Prizes. Really, Altaria has a pretty good matchup against Fire TRUK too.

Remember, this is purely speculation. It is untested, but it looks good on paper, but I don't know how well it will really do. It just seems to totally losk down G&G, which is the most popular deck in the format. I am just trying to come up with something new, so yeah.

i really think that this is a bunch o' hog wash, and if its not i find it very selfish to not tell a few honest souls (like me, lol).
but yea, i, and im sure many others have as well, looked through every dang leagle card and cant find anything that does what you folk are claiming it does.
i am in no way calling you dishonest people though.
but, of course i could just be wrong and overlooking something very useful.

i dont mean to brag and all but i have taken out metagame decks with a red face paint i have built in less then 30 min b4 a premeir event and have placed in 3 of around 6 so ill galdly help anyone but i play VERY DIFFRENTLY then you all will think xD

dishonest is something i am not. we have all the meta decks built, multiple well know players playing them. and x2 gives itself a great shot with everything. i understand that it may not seem believable but when march rolls around we'll see for sure. giving away secret rogue decks to the world is a good way to limit our own chances. we all know that if it is what I say it is that someone will leak it. because once anything overcomes the meta, the world finds out. :)

thats very true, but i just cant help but feel that you might just be spreading this around to get people fretting about trying to find out what it is, then come states, everyone will show up with random crap decks that they think could be this so called "X2" and do crap with it.
thus making it so that whatever you played would do good.

no offense catalstdisaster, but i have no idea of who you are, so its hard to take your word for it when you say something can beat you in three turns, cause i dont know what kind/how good of a player you are.

if you have this crazy deck that does so well, then why even say anything about it?
i know that if i figured something out, and after telling my team m chums, i wouldnt speak of it at all until tournament day.
so why even let people know that you have someting in mind that can beat everyting, cause that just lets people know that theres something out there, then raising the chances of your deck idea getting out.

thats just what i think though, and remember, i dont mean any disrespect in my typing.

i completely understand. the purpose in letting people hear of x2 is simply to let them know that a new meta is coming. Anyone who takes the time to sit down and figure it out deserved it. But not telling also inspires people to become creative, because thats really what makes the game interesting. Like stated by others earlier, anyone can make a cookie cutter gg or mag deck and do well. But what fun is it going and playing the same decks over and over. Sure some people will try and figure out what x2 is and maybe they fail, but maybe it leads them to new deck ideas. Thats what this is about. ROGUE players keep the game interesting. Otherwise we have spoilers and such and everyone know what that top deck will be etc. So try your best to come up with something. I'm sure BANGINBOX will agree.

ps. jimmy

im stoked 4 states

hmm, very well put.
i completely agree on the whole anyone can play a cookie cutter deck thing.
it bugs me to play what everyone else is playing.
back when i played metagross dragonite δ from the night of the DS prerelease, to the night of when it died (RIP)m i was the only person who had played it at most utah events. and im sure i was one of the few in the nation even that played it without the holons poop engine, and did great with it.
i miss it soo much...
lol
well as much as i would like to know what it might be, whether its anything at all, or youre all just trying to mess with peoples heads, lol, i wish you luck on it and hope it does good.

My girlfriend uses rouges.

Rouges make her look refined, doll-like, pretty, just like a rogue deck might make a good player look smart, classy, and confident.

Rouges won't make an ugly girl pretty, however. Rogue decks won't make a bad player look like a good player.

I see so many people who try to justify HORRIBLE deck choices just for the sake of "going rogue" and not following the norm. Going rogue with the right deck at the right tournament is when it matters, and at no other time does it matter.
