Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

States decks

^Manectric spread is still evil.

I still see Blastcatty as being a good deck though, against everything else, it's INSANE. It takes prizes so quickly with water blaster.

Well, what will see play will be a lot different then from what will be the best.

G-Decks will see play because of their versatility and somewhat usefulness, however there just aren't enough good SP Pokemon in this set to write home about

Torterra, Scizor, or Vespiquen w/Shaymin will see a lot of play, but will not be good because most of those pokemon will be obsolete because they rely on a body which is stopped by Dialga G

Ampharos/Manectric is another deck that will see play, but will once again will not be great because it relies on a body, and once again, will be obsolete because of Dialga G

Now, if I keep going of like this, some people might think "well then what are supposed to beat the big G SP Decks)

Well, find yourself a deck that can beat G Pokemon that does not rely on a body, and you have yourself a winning deck

Summary of what States will look like:If your deck relies on a body, it is obsolete because everyone and their dog will be play Dialga G Lv.X, good day...

lol, amphytric. dialga g lv x will be in every competitive deck that relies on poke-powers or does not require bodies. quote me.

edit: rampardos > all g pokemon AND "amphytric"

I agree, I don't even know why people are talking about Blastoise/Delcatty AT ALL when AmphyTric is being talked about just as much...

And I don't know why people are talking about AmphyTric when Machamp is very good as well.

And I don't know why people are talking about Machamp when Dusknoir and Gengar will be good.

And I don't know why people are talking about Dusknoir and Gengar when BlastyCatty...oh wait.

It's just a round and round circle. This format is SO wide open. It will continue to be through States. G Pokemon will be played. AmphyTric will be played. BlastyCatty will be played. Grass will be played. And that's just adding on to most everything that has been played at Cities thus far (Gengar, Dusknoir, Kingdra, Regi, GG, Raichu, Aboma, etc etc etc).

Dialga SP Lv X is a BEAST. It should and WILL be played in a lot, but still expect Body decks to do well. Just because some decks play it does not mean Body decks are obsolete. A Restructure/OHKO on Dialga will render it useless (obviously lol).

Who KNOWS what will be the best deck for States. Only time will tell-there is going to be a LOT of diversity.

Agreed with Magnechu. There is no real predicting what types of decks will see play, you can only take a look at the format and make an educated guess.

QFT. Rampardos is being overlooked for some strange reason and yet its just a bette kingdra...o_O

Does Dialga's body only work when it is active? I didn't know that, that makes this format a lot more flexible

I have been looking at the PT Banette, and i have had some promising ideas, but i still think Dialga G will shut down a lot of deck

Rampardos will be a VERY viable choice for states

EDIT:Huh, nevermind, it does work on the bench, oh well

No, it's always in effect, not just when it's active. Rampardos is looking really sweet right now. Especially if you could find some Stage 1/Basic to pair it with that can do high damage later in the game.

Personally i am seeing Rampardos played with the Blissey from that set, you just Head Smash mania and then Nurse Call and play Healer to help support it, with 130 HP and an attack you can alternate that does 40 and reduces 20 damage done to it, it sits for QUITE a while

You have to consider that they are still going to be attacking you, so that 40 damage could make a difference before you get a chance to heal it off with Blissey. I think I'm going to try Gyarados SF/PT with Rampardos in some Mario-esque kind of thing and see how it pans out.

EDIT: You also have no way to get those cards back that you discard, unless you have some energy cycling system. Delcatty?

Sounds terrible. You could just use Kingdra with PP and Crobat G and kill stuff that way. Oh, and you dont DIE HORRIBLY.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Toxicroak G LV.40 – Psychic – HP90
Basic Pokemon (SP)

Poke-Body: Anticipate
Prevent all effects of attacks, excluding damage, done to this Pokemon by your opponent's Pokemon.

[P][C] Deep Poison: 20 damage. If the Defending Pokemon is Poisoned, this attack does an additional 40 damage.

Weakness: Psychic (x2)
Resistance: none
Retreat: 2

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Croak prevents the Take out, and Abuses Champ's weakness.

so???? machamp hits so hard, it doesn't even need take out to win the match up.

Except this sets up T2-3, where Machamp remains incapable of killing Toxicroak. Whereas with poison damage and Crobat Machamp dies quite quickly....
