These dice are looking very nice. Arizona's was really great looking. Purple with glitter, very spiffy. I wish I had some of the Oregon, Illinois, and California dice.

Ok, in the OP. Ohio had 98% Gray, slightly more clear then the Professor Dice. It had very few blue clear ones.

that "little extra touch" quite likely meant the oregon PTOs weren't able to get the lower, large quantity per-unit price the other states did...

Although that could be, I highly doubt it take much more if at all to put the states 2 letter Acronym on each

Each artwork comes with a set up charge of it's own.
So, yes, it does cost significantly more.

All the states using the same artwork saved quite a bit of money.
Oregon's PTO spent a lot of extra money to do that.

In my experience, having ordered several sets of custom dice from Chessex, I don't believe that the addition of the word 'Oregon' or just using a state's abbreviation would actually up the cost of the dice. As far as I know, the cost stays the same no matter how many words you have on the dice, as long as they're able to make them, because it's all one graphic.

I think the point is that the rest of the PTO's ordered together, giving them a lower bulk rate then Oregon got.

That's what I understand from the thread at least

But it is a DIFFERENT graphic and so would be a new charge for THAT graphic, as opposed to the other PTOs who are all using the same graphic and splitting that set up charge among dozens of people.
Speaking as someone who has ordered several sets of custom dice from Chessex.

Basically, it's the difference between ordering 400 of one thing vs. upwards of 5000 of another (assuming that the other PTOs doing this ordered roughly 200 dice each). The overall cost might be down, but the cost per unit is far greater.
