You and Jason have both shown some amazing consistency as elite players, each of you in a different way. Jason winning Worlds for a second time (add that to the Tropical Mega Battle, Fan Appreciation tournament and other previous "most important tourney of the season" wins) and you placing both 1st at US Nats and 3rd at Worlds in the same season.

I might disagree or feel uncomfortable with some of the words you write here on the 'Gym, and the attitude you at times present, but right now all I feel like saying is CONGRATULATIONS. You became the National Champ in the hardest Nats in the world, and at Worlds, you proved to everyone how National Champ-worthy your skill levels really are. Very, very impressive season.

There is nothing wrong with him posting his opinion. He didn't name names. He didn't use harsh language. If we jump on someone any time they challenge judges, then we are fighting against ourselves.

Look, just because you don't like Gino doesn't mean he is wrong. I didn't see his game, so I don't know. I do know that what he says kind of makes sense to me. I am not saying he is right or wrong, but I am saying that he has the right to say it.

You seriously had a season that makes all of us jealous. Congrats again

FIRST OF ALL : TIME RESTRICTIONS ARE A PART OF THIS GAME AND MOST OTHERS!
DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND THAT IN BASKETBALL 4 CORNERS RUNS OUT THE CLOCK?
IN FOOTBALL, TAKING A KNEE : RUNS OUT THE CLOCK!
IN PRO WRESTLING REST HOLDS : ARE USED FOR COMMERCIALS AND RUN OUT THE CLOCK!
IN HOCKEY SKATING BEHIND YOUR GOAL TENDERS' NET RUNS THE CLOCK!!

If clock misuse is done in POKEMON then a penalty should be enforced. BUT, this is NOT SOCCER
to where penalty time and injury time is given!! Once the clock reads zero THEN the game is over
and the player with less prizes WINS!!!WINS!!!!WINS!!!!! Not told to "stand by" and then make
a decision that time should be extended???? WHAT IN THE H--- IS THAT????????
You want to justify something, justify why YOU weren't in the top 4!! But, stop trying to JUSTIFY
the UNJUST!!! THAT WAS WRONG!! If there was an announcement of a time extension made
BEFORE time had been called that would NEVER have been questioned!! BUT AFTERWARD???

Gino, you literally fabricated a story here. There were indeed 4 warnings for slowplay - and two of them were directed at you. They cautioned me early, then you got one. Next, in Game 3, they warned me to keep my pace up. And the fourth warning was directed you, when you took a long turn, and they paused the game to let us know the next slowplay violation would result in a prize penalty.

There was no 'botched' call. We played slow, and the judges responded appropriately - with a warning and a 5-minute time extension.

Similar to Ness, Yamato, Ballard...etc.
An elite group that should be known as the best of the best!!
Maybe you've experienced the PWNAGE at one time or another?

There's a wide space between being a friend and hero worship. Your posts in this thread suggest Gino means more to you than just a friend.

Gino, I have to say your post addresses a lot of issues in a very disrespectful manner. If you had a problem with the judging staff, the time to deal with that was at Worlds. Not here on Pokegym weeks after the event. I was looking forward to seeing "The Great Gino" at Worlds, and was extremely disappointed by the complete lack of respect for anyone around you, other than your disciples of course.

EDIT: I don't want anyone to take this the wrong way, Gino's a world class player. I just think he lacks a few of the key SOTG attributes, and this is meant as constructive criticism, not "hatin'".

This is what I recall. Again, I was one of the judges sitting on the match, but I was in the "ring" in a lab coat, at that time helping the video crew get reaction shots at the end of games, etc. The judges huddled and discussed the slow play on both sides with verbal warnings already being given to each. So, a warning was issued to both with the instruction that if either one of you slow played again and had to be prompted, it would result in a PP.

So, just like at Nats for you Gino, it went verbal warning first, then actual warning and if again, it would have been PP for either of you. No judge there in any age group was "hating" or biased ag'st anyone! We only wanted to see the best player win on that day. You wore the crown at Nats and Ness wore it at Worlds. You both should be proud. You noticed at Nats, the judges gave you warm applause, even if the crowd didnt.

Are you his biggest fanboy? The way you are talking right now leads me to think you worship him or something and that he's immune to his mistakes. Justify why I wasn't in the top 4? Because maybe I gave away a few too many wins this season? I'm sure there was a time extension made before time was called, simply due to the number of warnings given in that match. But obviously he wasn't paying attention and was too focused on the match?

I've played gino alot more then you have, or probly anybody else on pokegym. I've beat him and he's beat me. But I can tell you that he lacks SOTG, which none of the legends you listed do (well, in most cases anyways....Jimmy! :thumb:) I've personally let him take back at least a half a dozen mistakes in tournaments that range from battle roads/cities all the way to regionals, and most of the time that SOTG has caused me to lose out on money and other rewards. He's almost abused every single rule at least once and has been banned from a store. :/ What does that say? He's a good player but not the best person.

Many of you are using words like "worship" and "hero". Please understand this. My concern is that
more often than not, decisions are made on personal feelings and not actual occurences. I've been
involved in judges decisions that were made against me because I was an out of towner and had "no
right" to question a local's illegal action. The guys I mentioned (Gino, Jason, Yamato, Ballard) are
students of this game. They could teach any of us much about the game!
I want a FAIR SHAKE to be given, especially at huge premier events like WORLD'S.
Our kids deserve it, We deserve it and THEY DESERVED IT. Judgements made after the fact are
BAD JUDGEMENTS! What if time had been called and Jason was behind on prizes? Then Gino came
back to win? Gino would then be insulted even more! Don't throw stones because of the way a
person speaks or expresses himself.
Understand the frustration! It can happen to any of us!

BTW...yes I am a huge fan of these players! The utmost respect for the ELITE! Nothing wrong with
that. In fact, I'd like to win the opportunity to have Jason come to my league for a day! Not so much
for me because I will never understand this game fully, but for my kid and all the kids that LOVE
THIS GAME AND THIS BRAND SO MUCH!!!!

Gino really isn't a very nice guy to play against. I have a LOT more respect for players like Jimmy, Drew, Jason who actually RESPECT you and show SOTG while playing.

Good job on the win Gino, but please don't complain how you didn't do better. If you stop and think about it, most people out there would give a ton to be where you were. Perhaps next year you could try and show a little more SOTG and more people would like you. ;)
 
Alot of people (including myself) would be happy for you, if we didn't have to put up with all this arrogance. Good job Gino, on lying about your Top 4 match, and becoming one of the worst examples of top players of this game.

StoneCold, not sure who you are, but your time analogies to other sports is horribly flawed. In those games listed, you're not playing towards a certain number like you are in Pokemon, you're playing to have a higher score than your opponent at the end of time. That shouldn't be the objective in Pokemon. The objective should be to draw all 6 prizes/bench your opponent/deck your opponent. Period. Time exists but you should play as it didn't.

Gino, GJ on the season. Maybe we'll actually play a game this year. Not at TJs though.
