I don't like the iPad because it is so locked down and you can't run stuff unless Apple authorizes it. I would much rather have a similar device running Windows or Linux like Ubuntu, or heck I'd even take a lighter version of Mac OSX.

completely pointless. too bulky to carry around with you, does everything that an ipod touch can already do, probably has anti-jailbreak software, which makes it inferior to a jailbroken ipod touch, and has no screen protection for when you want to take it places and can't fit it into your pocket. Seriously, a laptop may be more expensive but it is such a better investment. No touch to mess with, (or have it mess with you...) no damaged or scratched screens just from taking it places, is much faster, has a better wireless card, graphics are better, gaming is better, memory, etc. Just save a little more and go for the macbook ya'll!
