So I decided that it would be interesting to try out this blimp of a tank in a deck, especially since it heals itself. So here's my crack at Wailtank, I think the t/s/s may need a slighttt bit of work, just so many things I want to put in!

Pokemon: 19

3x Wailord GE
3x Wailmer GE
2x Nidoqueen RR
1x Nidorina RR
2x Nidoran F RR
2x Claydol GE
2x Baltoy GE
1x Floatzel GL Lv X
1x Floatzel GL
1x Xatu SW
1x Natu SW

T/S/S: 29

4x Roseanne's Research
4x Pokehealer +
4x Life Herb
3x Bebe's Search
3x Super Scoop Up
2x Pokemon Communication
2x Level Max
2x Rare Candy
2x Expert Belt
1x Premier Ball
1x Luxury Ball
1x Pokemon Collector

Energy: 12

9x Water
2x Psychic
1x Recover

Wailord: So the main idea is obviously to get Wailord out Expert Belted. He attacks for a steady 60/80 while putting himself to sleep, and hopefully staying asleep to heal damage.

Nidoqueen: She is the backup attacker, if necessary. The main purpose of Queen is to obviously heal damage from your Pokemon in between every turn, but her 1 for 40 or if completely necessary, second attack are formidable.

Floatzel GL Lv X: Sits on the bench and rescues your Pokemon and tools/energy. Hopefully doesn't have to attack, and if it does, it would be using the regular Floatzel GL's 50 damage attack. Free retreat makes this very unlikely to be forced into attacking.

Xatu: Tech used to push status conditions from Wailord onto the defending Pokemon, basically a failsafe to wake up Wailord if tails is flipped enough times where he is still asleep.

Claydol: I shouldn't be writing about what Claydol does. Gets me my cards.

Pokehealers and Life Herbs and SSU's: Used to heal Wailord, scooping if another attacker is ready hopefully. Not too huge on SSU, I think one of those could be cut if someone finds something else missing.

Level Max/Premier Ball: To get Floatzel GL. Might take out Premier Ball, so there's a spot that could be taken out for something else. Its somewhat tricky to get Floatzel out since its the only Lv X so I can't go heavy on cards to retrieve it and be left with dead cards the rest of the game.

Roseanne's, Bebe's, Communications, Collector: Roseanne's gets the energy. Bebe's is flexible, so is Communication. Collector gets basics and other cards that can fuel either Communication or putting extra cards in your hand to Cosmic to the bottom of your deck.

Any help would be appreciated. My two biggest question marks right now are the third SSU and the Premier Ball, but again I'm not sure what to change.

I haven't been able to play this at league yet, and have no one near my house to test with, so I've played against my own Cursegar deck, and honestly, those first few slow turns for Gengar give Wailord exactly what it wants. That combined with Gengar not being able to hit for enough damage, I have beat Gengar 5 out of 6 times that I've tested so far. I'm not sure how well it would do against a speed deck, I'm sure I wouldn't mind sacrificing a prize or two to get Wailord set up, since the point is that Wailord stays out there all game.

Yes, I know, its weak against Luxray. I have adopted an anti-Luxray thought process. Wailord doesn't get OHKO'ed, and will suffer even less damage since Floatzel/Claydol/Xatu will get bright looked in most cases.

Thanks for reading and any help is appreciated :thumb:

Well one of the first threats which came to mind was Luxray since Water Types are very weak against Lighting Types, but you seem to have a plan for that, the second issue which alerted me was Wailord's high retreat cost which could cause him to be a "sitting duck"... Hmm...
But I do like your idea using Floatzel, it's mainly an energy circulation tactic right?, I used the same idea in my Floatillery Deck, you may also use NidoQueen's "Maternal Comfort" for her healing factor combined with Wailord's...But...
Besides Luxray one of your other main threats will be Dialga G Lv X and it's ability to shut down Poke Bodies which will greatly hurt Wailord and NidoQueen.
Well I hope my insight helped you out a bit and will help you prepare for upcoming matches...
Good Luck...:D

This deck is obviously gonna be very slow, considering you need 4 energies, and DCE isn't an option.
So what do you have in mind for faster decks, which can easily snipe out these kinda cards whilst they're setting up, sure wailord has high hp, but you can't rely on that, because by the time it gets 4 energies attached it's gonna either be dead or very high in damage, which you won't be able to heal off quick enough for it to make an impact. Luxray GL lvX basically screws this deck over too D:.
But i like the deck idea, wailord is awesome, and all i have left to say is "They should have made wailord lvX >:D"

to speed the deck up a bit run lapras it can search for an energy and a poke tool. you will be suprised how quick you can set up wailord with it,

Wailord Lv X with 300 Hp... haha

I agree, it is slow. As of now, the plan against faster stuff I would say (It sucks because I don't have a fast deck, just my Cursegar) either sacrifice one or two Pokes on the way to setting up a Wailord, looking into the Lapras as mentioned above, or... losing. haha

I think the biggest thing with this deck will be, make sure a Wailmer/lord survives for three turns until it can be promoted active/start the tankage. I know that a lot of players would shy away from giving up prizes like that, but if you think about it, when run correctly, the active Wailord isn't supposed to ever die. So there would only be a few prizes grabbed from sniping. I realized I need at least a Night Maintenance, maybe a Palmer's. Possibly warp points but besides the SSU and Premier ball do I have enough flexibility to fit that stuff and Lapras in?

As for Dialga G... I think I'll just kindly ask my opponent to not play it.

Would you please mind not leveling up your Dialga G for me? I would greatly appreciate it, as if you played it I may as well just throw my cards in the shredder.

Haha basically I'd just try... uh... the warp points I havent put in yet, or maybe I should use Pokemon reversal? or circulator? the flippy gust of wind? I forget which it is. That way I have some control, to at least get Dialga active and hope it'll stay active until i slowly kill it. Any fire Pokes that have awesome colorless attacks and are preferably basic?! haha

Maybe some Cyclone Energy, only disadvantage there is your opponent gets to choose which bench Pokemon they want to switch there active Pokemon with... : /

Yeah, and the general idea is Wailord is supposed to stay out, besides Queen there is really no other attacking options, I think I'll look into reversals, warp points, things like that just in case. Considering this deck will only be able to be used this weekend, since I'm not going to nationals or anything, I really should just gear it towards what I might be seeing, and there's a decent chance Dialga might show up

Haha will do, What do you think is better to be put in for a SSU and Premier Ball? Pokemon circulators or warp points? Or something else?

I'd say Warp Points, you might wanna consider a few Switch's to just to get a highly damaged Wailord off the field then you'll be able to replace it with something while Wailord heals on the bench...IDK...

Since you are thinking of a card that will move Dialga G onto the bench, Pokemon Circulator would be a prime candidate then.

Edit: You also get to choose what comes out.

I wish I had some of those Lapras from GE. I think two of those and probably two circulators would work great, so if I'm already taking out the Premier Ball and a SSU, what else would you guys suggest I remove for the two Lapras?

You were saying about how it's meant to survive but sacrificing pokes, when luxray GL drags it out, and you can't switch it, or garchomp C snipes it, you're in trouble =\

I do know that if I play one of those decks (luxchomp) they'll either pull out something on the bench or snipe around it for prizes, so I'll just have to get lucky or try to outlast them, I'm not worried much about it though, I'll take that auto-loss. Plus, as crazy as it sounds, my area is pretty laid back and at BRs it has been found it unusual for players to be playing the top top decks, so as insane as I may seem to be sounding right now, I don't think I'll play against too too too many LuxChomps.

I ran Wailord with Octillery (Platinum)... I'm curious if Octillery (Platinum) or Feraligatr Prime work better with Wailord.

I'm not sure, It would be pretty tough to fit Gatr in, since Queen I believe is pretty essential to the healing power and lasting power of Lord to stay out, plus building up another stage 2 alongide Queen would be quite tricky to accomplish consistently and probably end up taking as long as the 4 turns of attaching energies would

well maybe if you found a way to fit in 1-0-1 line of feraligatr prime with a candy it could work
