So I decided that it would be interesting to try out this blimp of a tank in a deck, especially since it heals itself. So here's my crack at Wailtank, I think the t/s/s may need a slighttt bit of work, just so many things I want to put in!
Pokemon: 19
3x Wailord GE
3x Wailmer GE
2x Nidoqueen RR
1x Nidorina RR
2x Nidoran F RR
2x Claydol GE
2x Baltoy GE
1x Floatzel GL Lv X
1x Floatzel GL
1x Xatu SW
1x Natu SW
T/S/S: 29
4x Roseanne's Research
4x Pokehealer +
4x Life Herb
3x Bebe's Search
3x Super Scoop Up
2x Pokemon Communication
2x Level Max
2x Rare Candy
2x Expert Belt
1x Premier Ball
1x Luxury Ball
1x Pokemon Collector
Energy: 12
9x Water
2x Psychic
1x Recover
Wailord: So the main idea is obviously to get Wailord out Expert Belted. He attacks for a steady 60/80 while putting himself to sleep, and hopefully staying asleep to heal damage.
Nidoqueen: She is the backup attacker, if necessary. The main purpose of Queen is to obviously heal damage from your Pokemon in between every turn, but her 1 for 40 or if completely necessary, second attack are formidable.
Floatzel GL Lv X: Sits on the bench and rescues your Pokemon and tools/energy. Hopefully doesn't have to attack, and if it does, it would be using the regular Floatzel GL's 50 damage attack. Free retreat makes this very unlikely to be forced into attacking.
Xatu: Tech used to push status conditions from Wailord onto the defending Pokemon, basically a failsafe to wake up Wailord if tails is flipped enough times where he is still asleep.
Claydol: I shouldn't be writing about what Claydol does. Gets me my cards.
Pokehealers and Life Herbs and SSU's: Used to heal Wailord, scooping if another attacker is ready hopefully. Not too huge on SSU, I think one of those could be cut if someone finds something else missing.
Level Max/Premier Ball: To get Floatzel GL. Might take out Premier Ball, so there's a spot that could be taken out for something else. Its somewhat tricky to get Floatzel out since its the only Lv X so I can't go heavy on cards to retrieve it and be left with dead cards the rest of the game.
Roseanne's, Bebe's, Communications, Collector: Roseanne's gets the energy. Bebe's is flexible, so is Communication. Collector gets basics and other cards that can fuel either Communication or putting extra cards in your hand to Cosmic to the bottom of your deck.
Any help would be appreciated. My two biggest question marks right now are the third SSU and the Premier Ball, but again I'm not sure what to change.
I haven't been able to play this at league yet, and have no one near my house to test with, so I've played against my own Cursegar deck, and honestly, those first few slow turns for Gengar give Wailord exactly what it wants. That combined with Gengar not being able to hit for enough damage, I have beat Gengar 5 out of 6 times that I've tested so far. I'm not sure how well it would do against a speed deck, I'm sure I wouldn't mind sacrificing a prize or two to get Wailord set up, since the point is that Wailord stays out there all game.
Yes, I know, its weak against Luxray. I have adopted an anti-Luxray thought process. Wailord doesn't get OHKO'ed, and will suffer even less damage since Floatzel/Claydol/Xatu will get bright looked in most cases.
