HGSS-on The Reshiram/Emboar deck discussion

@K2,

You quoted the wrong guy, or at least your post wasn't as clear when I first read it.

I never said that Vileplume with Emboar would be feasible per se, but it would be an interesting card to run or even as a tech because of trainer lock. I never said it was feasible, but if someone could pull that off as a feasible deck, then that would be amazing (Dodrio would help and after Worlds when Catcher comes out with that 4-star retreat you get a 2 star rating, which isn't as bad, and with 2 Dodrios you'll get a 0-star rating, that is, free-retreat, energy efficiency at its best). It could be. I liked your article, Zoroark has a tougher time with Magnezone's attack.

With Reshiboar against Vileplume/Zoroark, it would be tougher depending on who gets their stage 2 out first, and even then Reshiboar can catch up, but that could take a while. Trainer lock has done well in Unlimited, Zoroark's first attack also boosts consistency of getting Vileplume out, Zoroark's second attack has been used in Unlimited (Clefable Jungle). Even if I had no knowledge of Reshiboar, this thread pointed out that Vileplume/Zoroark is not an autowin. The match-up looks intriguing, because Zoroark can one-shot Reshiram and Zoroark can one shot it back and unlike Zekrom, Reshiram doesn't have any self-inflicted damage drawbacks for copying its second attack. But it's not going to be like, everyone is going to be like run Feraligatr Prime with Alomamola! Quick! Everyone's playing Reshiboar! Although, that would be pretty amazing too.

Well, I don't play unlimited, so I wouldn't know. I never said it was an auto win. In one of my earlier posts, I even said it would be a tough match up. If I can get out android #20 before they get out Vileplume(which I can), the match up would be easier. I can get out #20 by just strait evolving just as fast as Rare Candy. And it won't take that long either. I've done some testing, and even played against different variants in tournaments, and I've overcome all those obstacles.

Cards like Fisherman, Professor Elm's Training Method, Professor Juniper,(gets rid of dead trainers) and Flower Shop Lady help to make that match up a lot easier.

As far as it being paired up with Vileplume, it can work, but you would have to get out plume early to really lock your opponent down. Otherwise, it's just going to be played like every other Reshiboar deck until it does. Which means they can reversal/Catcher you in the beginning, and really mess you up. Shoot, they could mess you up so bad, that you can't get anything out. They'll be 10 times faster than you.

And about Dodrio. I wish there was room for 2 in the deck. I think I can fit in 1, but I'm just theorymoning that right now. It would help If I could get at least 1 out. That's something I haven't seen before, so I'm going to try it.

thanks for the post.

Here's a quote Reshiboar players should live by. "I'm slow, like a tortoise till I get out a stage 2, then after that, you know I can beat you"

Now that's pro.

Hey guys!! I've recently been testing out a Emboar/Reshiram/Vileplume deck, due to a request made on this thread. Only once out of 3 games was I able to get Vileplume out early. Which means that I was playing my deck just like every other Reshiboar deck, except I had no trainners. It played well, but I can't help but think what would happen if I faced a deck that would Catcher/Reversal me, and get off all it's other trainers as well. So, with that said, I know that Vileplume can't work with Reshiboar. But, Reshiboar, can survive, and do well under the trainer lock. (well, my deck can)

I'm actually thinking about another idea too. Maybe leave out most of those trainers, and add a 2-2 line of Dodrio. The deck would be more supporter based, just like the Vileplume build, but I'll be able to retreat Reshiram's for free, and a 2 retreat cost for Emboar, Since I won't be running that many trainers, Vileplume decks won't be a problem at all. Let me see if I can come up with a list real quick.

I am going to Worlds. And Amphy I am going to let my friend borrow my Reshiboar deck and I will build it to the way you have your list. I will inform you on how he does with it at Worlds

Really? Oh wow, that's awesome!! Actually, let me just PM you my list, because I've been tweaking it a little bit since the last time I posted a list. I haven't changed it too much though.

Hey!! Post the new list. It'll be cool to see it now. I'm switching over to this deck from Typhlosion, because I don't like to take damage and I feel better playing it.

Only 2 Energy retrieval?

when you've got 2 Fisherman also, do you need more than 2?

The lack of Junk Arm in that recent build brings up cause for concern.

I know. But, do you need Junk Arm if you don't have that many trainers? I only have 10 in there. Most of them I don't need twice, so it works out. Reversal is the only one you really worry about, and I can live with it at 3. I have Fisherman, as well as Energy Retrieval, so I don't need JK for that. 3 Rare Candy is fine, so is Communication, since I have Prof. Elm's. I don't have PlusPower's because I only need them for 2 Matchups. Against everything else, it will be dead, so that's why they're not in there.

Oh, it's going awesome!! Well, in this build, she's always been at three. Add it's over 2,000 views, not posts. :frown: But it's still cool though that a lot of people are looking at it, and are interested in it. Surprisingly, it's more than Reshplosion, and that's pretty impressive.

Hey guys!! Check out the OP. I've updated the deck for this format and added some new elements to it.
