Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

The THIRD ANNUAL "GEORGIA MARATHON"....!!!!

Gary, Greg & Tymon. THANK YOU. I just wanted to say Thanks for all the hard work You guys put into this great series of events. I know the players had a blast and appreciate it.

My daughter and I played in 6 events (Ozark, AL through Marietta, GA) and had a great time meeting, and getting our butts kicked by, some of the best pokemon players in the country. Thanks to everyone for making the marathon such a good time.

Tony

I'd like to add my thanks as well to Gary, Greg, Tymon, and all the judges. Awesome job guys.

THANKS!

How could I have forgotten Massachusetts....?? Susanne, Kevin and Henry showed up on Sunday in
Ozark, Alabama and played for 6 days. The boys played Very Well and plan on attending Next Year.

That makes 13 different States...If I missed anyone please let me know.

We had 2 playing PTO's in Alabama area with Heidi Craig...Keith Haas joined in on the play in
Atlanta. I got to Pooler this morning and their was Jeff Reynolds with Toni and Tracey. Of
course the Georgia PTO, Tymon, ran the event in Lilburn on Saturday. We missed seeing Clay Mitchell and
Randy Curry and hope to see them back next year.

Everyone just rolled with the flow...When we showed up with 105 at Stevie B's Pizza....the food was
Great...Not much room for their customers. 109 at McDonalds in Marietta...Can you believe it...???.
Had to send the Seniors 2 doors down to Burger King who welcomed them with opened arms...
Quick Decisions made things work out Great. I had to find a different Venue for Frankin and the
Community Building is the perfect place to play up to 150.

Ken Cross from Olltewah, Tn. is now the official Judge of the Georgia Marathon...Great job Ken...!!!
He judged the 6 events from Newnan to Lilburn....In my opinion PUI needs to look at him for
Nationals and Worlds.....????

Many....Many Thanks from us to All the Dedicated Pokemon Players who Attended....

See you Guys and Gals on the "Pokemon Trail",

Thanks GrandDaddy - we had a blast and are probably coming back for more next season!

My total record down there was 22-9 including those two losses in top cut.... you've got some good seniors down there! Henry won 3 or 4 events... thanks to the marathon, he's 8th in the world! And only 4 of the tournament results are up!

Some awesome last minute decisions were made - Burger King was the best, but everything was awesome. The only terrible memory was the computer crash in Franklin - I'm sure steps will be taken to prevent that next year.

Everybody down there was nice... met some great players. Can't wait to see you all at Nats... and most likely GA next year!

Congrats to all, organizers and players.

I love hearing about this event even from afar!

An exciting Pokemon holiday gift to all of us, even far away!

Vince

So who won, and with what decks each day? Other than Seena and Stephen's wins, the peanut gallery doesn't really know much about the GA marathon.

thanks

we all just wanted to say thanks from cattanooga we didnt get to make it to all and started off slow but the last turny noah went 6-1 and i made top 8 it was great. next year we wont take a break 2 months before the ga run lol. it was awesome seeing old friends (john s. gregg w. and many more plus making new ones robert from wisc. and a few more. there were 2 world winners there and got the chance to speak to both really nice guys. there were many good juniors that had played in worlds and dont forget the seniors. probably the top 10 in north america.

as far as the decks we saw
bedrill
kingdra
mother gengar
lots of sp dialgia garchomp toolbox variants blazeray
champ
gardy
gengar champ
saw a few gliscors at the first but that didnt last long
shuppet donk

these all did well of course there were a few hit or miss decks but for the most part these are the ones that did well. the number 1 ANNOYING card was by far the new spiritomb. hard to play around that guy.

I have to say, the best thing I saw in my small snippet of the Georgia Marathon is what i'm calling a "Tarot Deck" as performed by Ms. Abley (I believe her name is). Such a frustrating deck, but it was nice to see something rogue.

It was like
GE Pachirisu (to call for Family and assumedly to counter SP)
Both Lunatone
Both Solrock

I've been advocating an Atlanta Nationals since that 'Nats 2010' thread. Go for it!

That would be interesting...but don't hold your breathe...

It not only would be interesting....I could be Practical. I don't know if PUI has ever visited Atlanta
or researched it. And I don't know what they are looking for. From living here for 62 years just
30 minutes south of the airport I can tell you what it has...
Stone Mountain (with nightly laser shows, beach and much more)...Grant Park (Zoo)..
Six Flags....White Water...The Braves Play at The Ted in Downtown...they could be playing
your favorite team like the BoSox (right Sniper and Squirtle..?)
All kinds of ethnic foods everywhere....From the World Famous Varsity to Fine Dining.
The Fox Theater and other Venues for Concerts...shopping...shopping....and more shopping.
Phillips Areana (Home of the Falcon and Thrashers) many concerts held here....
Underground Atlanta...The Coca Cola Complex....The Atlanta Aquarium...
1 and a half hours south near Montgomery, Al. are the slots and dog tracks of Victoryland..a
newly built Casino and hotel with a Fabulous 22 hour buffet....
To the north in the mountains is the city of Helen, Ga. with its quaint shops and Bavarian
atmosphere....Atlanta is Truly an International City and is always the number 1 or 2 busiest
Airport in the Nation....Delta's major Hub is here with more direct flights to anywhere.
There are reasons that many Conventions are held in Atlanta...It may not be convient to the
west coast....But nothing is...except the west coast.
Lots of Florida players could get to Atlanta quicker. Many Northern Players just drove 12 hours
to Play in the "Georgia Marathon". Most played 4, 5 or 6 days...Schedule it WhereEver...the
Pokemon Players will come. Atlanta has a lot to offer...from Downtown to the North Side...Many
Venues and Great Places to eat. In my opinion it Deserves to be looked at.
WhatEver your interest is just Google it....Atlanta probably has it...

See you Guys & Gals on the "Pokemon Trail",

^It is totally deserted on the weekends... though not as badly as St. Louis.

I don't think Pokémon has interest in a casino, either.

But the aquarium alone makes Atlanta better than any other location for me. Even Boston or NY.

The Hawks play in Phillips the Falcons at the GA Dome.

ATL also has the World Congress Center with a TON of exhibit rooms with more than enough space to host the tournament and probably 3-4 other of the same size with no problem which also happens to be in the middle of the Downtown area(beside the GA Dome behind Phillips above the Marta) surrounded by hotels so lodging wouldn't be a problem. Food wouldn't be a problem either because it is right behind the CNN Center which has a full sized food court that operates all weekend long.

Atlanta is not deserted on the weekend. It depends on what you want to do. I was listing
what is available in the area...for young people and older people that may come alone. Everyone
has different interests. Pokemon is only interested in Pokemon. But if you come early or stay
late as some players do at Nationals and Worlds....then there is lots to do in Atlanta....I've gone
to National for the past 5 years...I come in ...Do the pokemon thing...and leave. Some players
and families make it a vacation....Atlanta and area has something for Everyone....
