Time Travel

OH DEAR!! This sort of convo AGAIN! Back to asking my Physic teacher about this.

Time-Travel IS 100% NOT IMPOSSIBLE!

A machine would not have to have a hardrive of all time.... a time machine would have to be able to create a certain amount of black-holes to make a time void which then the machine would have to split your atoms up and send you in the void. In the void you would have to travel through the fibres of time, which would consequently rip a hole in Time-Space and cause a time-space rift, which would basically cause the Big Bang over and over again, and everytime it happened it would stop go back and do it again. You would go back in time and appear where the machine sent you. You would still exist in the present but only and atoms floating around. If you met your present atoms you would cause yet ANOTHER space-time rift and merge with yourself creating another void randomly sending you either backwards or forwards in time and you would exist as molecules.

Also if you do time travel there is a danger of well, no.1 destroying universal matter, 2. causing the universe to implode as you would destro Dark matter which is supposedly hold the universe together, or 3. leave part of yourself in time... which means you could technically go back in time but you might of lost an arm.... ow.

In other words you can time travel, but you might risk ending the universal matter/ everything in matter.... also no one has time traveled yet because... where are the future people??

Time travel is impossible period.
Forward in time, in the movies you "disappear in a flash of light" then reappear in the future. This would not happen, the only way to travel to the future would be to freeze yourself and actually be able to thaw yourself out and live in the distant future.
Actually, that's called suspended animation, not time travel....

No that's called Cyrogenics......

Time travel is impossible for us because the amount of power needed to make a worm hole is to great for us to even atemtp. Time is a matter and we can go though it just we'll never have the power needed on Earth. If we ever made that type of power here the Earth would not be able to withstand it. For one preson to go anywere in time that and present then all life that we now would be gone. If we're able to put it in space then we'll have more of a chance because there less metter in space there we'll wouldn't have to worry about the force that would be pulling and pushing on that metter around the machine. Maybe element 116 would be able to help us power the machine. Just a thought.

I'm sorry.... WHAT??!!

Time is not a matter..... nothing is matter... matter is it. Technically time is not real.... it is only threads of a uknown flux make.

Oh yeah and how would Ununhexium (I'm doing IGCSE chemistry) help a time machine?? Ununhexium (I'm gonna call it U) is a radioactive isotope, and can bond with it's atomic number being 124 and 122 and can remain stable for about 6 seconds before falling apart.... it's a synthetic material meaing generally it's ions will be positively charged, but if bonded the ions will retract. So no, I'm sorry it just won't help at all. It can;t even be found.... Don't test me.

o_O
What kind of grade do you get one a essay that even the teacher does not understand?

Usually an F because California doesn't allow gifted writers/students to go past the idiots that will end up in some fast food joint.
No not working there, asking for change..

^It's all over the world that intelligent kids aren't respected much, let alone appreciated. I can't count how many times I actually knew something ebtter then my teachers.

How did scientists found out what times is? You say time is not real and I concur with that, but then you say it's only threads of an unknown flux make, which makes it something. That part get's me confused.

I still think time is a man made concept, made to create order in our busy society's life. There is nothing 'natural' about it.

So someone explain why stuff like time dilation works at all? We have to be messing with something for something like that to happen.

Oh boy.... here comes the really complicated part.... I'll try to make it easier. Time is not anything but scientists called it something because, well... no.1 they're not entirely sure it isn't anything and it's a whole lot easier saying it is something when talking about it than saying the thing that is not real. But time threads are smaller than atoms, half atoms, neutrinos or quarks it is supposedly a concentration of photons which bond to become ionated, the problem is that photons have no mas or ions so therefore cannot bond.... scientists are trying to find out how they became ionated. CONFUSING!!!

WHY?!! WHY?!!

Nah, I'm only kidding, this is where it gets fun. Time dilation is basically when time seems to be slower for something else, such as, the most common examples: clock. 2 indectical clocks set at the EXACT same time, but one is going slower. This may seem impossible because YOU SET THEM AT THE SAME TIME!! and THERE ELECTRONIC THEY HAVE TO KEEP A STEADY TEMPO!! Now before you start screaming witch and lobbing rotten veggy at your monitor you need to understand this: Einstein states Time Dilation as a Special Relativity which means that their inertial system is running slow, also known as the Lorrentz Theory (Not sure how Lorrentz is spelt, think that is it). Inertial systems are how things run and I mean ANYTHING this explains how forces like centrifugal force (when something spins really fast and matter is pushed to the sides). Then there is General Relativity which is whn the clock has more GPE (gravitational pontential energy) than the other due to the mass realtive of the core (or gravitational source) of the Earth.

There you go.... now my fingers hurt! lol

I think I'll leave such complicated stuff as time/gravity/space and how they all relate to each other and what they do to someone else. :p

If time travel existed, we would know by now. Because there would either be a notice, to everyone, or some idiot from the future would let it slip.

Well, they did have a time travel convention a while back and no one from the future showed up.

There's all kinds of weird stuff happening in physics right now, subatomic particles that change the second they're detected, physical laws going wacko when we get to really, really cold temperatures (could this help time travel at all?)

Time Dilation is a proven fact.

Take 2 clocks. They will be set at the same time (to the millisecond or greater accuracy). Put 1 on Mt. Everest, put the other in the Marianas Trench. The one in the Marianas Trench will be statistically slower after a few weeks.

That is time dilation. More gravity = slower time (in simplified terms)

I like the way you have substituted Time travel and explained it in the form of an everyday object, in this case an MP3-Player. I often explain it with frames in a camera. This article here has changed my view on this area of physics. I think there is some sort of common explanation of why it cant happen, and i think its something to do with either the Space-time continuem? (sorry if i destroyed that word) or the theory of relativity. Also, i dont think time travel to the future would exist, becuase this is the here and now, The present. If it hasnt happened, how could someone come back from something that hasnt happened? It cant be possible unless there are parrallel universes, one a thousand years ahead of our own. That or everything could slowly be going backwards, ie were not evolving (if you belive in Darwins evolution theory) but were de-evolving, and the fossils nowa days are left there from a time far, far away in what we beleive to be the past, but in actual fact is the future. Eh, bet you never thuaght of that Mr Hawkins....

Then again, thats probably unlickely.

Interesting read, and by no means was it a waste of time.

Luke

Yeah Joe, copying and pasting is painful. How do i know, i used those exact words for my GCSE in BASIC physics

^^No Luke I swear on my life (and I mean it) that I did no tcopy and paste that, we are learning TOR for part of our IGCSEs.
