How about a younger player...Curran Hill (only existing US Nats and World Champ in same year).

He is probably the most accomplished "young gun"

Michael Diaz would be another potential choice.

This looks really cool, and I can't wait to see the results of it all. While I'd love to see the newly crowned World Champion enter into it, I can definitely understand that something like that would take some serious coordination, even though the event itself takes enough as it is.

Gonna be interesting to see who comes out on top.

Curran would be a great choice for this, since he's the only player (to my knowledge) to have worlds-level success in all three age groups.

An invitation should be extended to the top X players from the event too, if they hadnt already recieved one from reputation. No guarantees that after going through suck a vigorous tournament they'd want to, but it'd be cool to see the current top cutters duking it out with odl favorites too. Just a thought xD

And this seems like a lot of fun, especially if the videos were uploaded for those of us who can't make it to Worlds.

For those asking if videos will be posted later, YES, that is the whole point of this. (Read the original post! ) It's not just a standard tournament where we invite great players to face off; we want this to be a spectator event. At the very least, we will have videos of the games with commentary, but we are trying to stream the event live as well. If we get enough donations to buy more cameras, we will capture the players' hands as well, but that is not possible with our current budget. At the moment, all we have enough for is an overhead camera to capture the board and another roaming camera to capture the rest of the event.

At this point, all of our invitations have been sent out. If someone declines an invite, we will consider inviting Curran Hill since he has a long list of accomplishments, but we'll have to look into that first.

On the hand cam issue: you could also try lending cameras from other people Most newer DSLRs have a good video recording option. Oh, and cheating at an event like this would be idiotic...

Never winning anything big? Doesn't he have 6 states, 1 regionals, 1 NATIONALS, and a 3rd at worlds? Seems pretty big to me....

Why they would invite Con but not Gino is beyond me. Both have a lot of states/regionals success. Both won nats. Gino T4'ed worlds, Con didn't.
Explain how that works.

tbh I'd still like Curran to be on that list, I know he doesn't neccasirly have all the accomplishments, and some of his success was in Jrs./Srs. but I think he could definitely be in that group, I'd also say Pooka should be there, but he's videotaping it so yeah.
