For the list...

How about an option after the Export to TRN options that states "Pair Fun Rounds" to allow you to continue pairing additional fun rounds, without affecting the results of the event? This will allow continued organized play matching players with like skills, but the winner of the offial event, and what is exported to the TRN file is only the official results for the official number of rounds.

nfgcgrb - Does TOM allow you to run single elimination after the official number of swiss rounds are done?
And do you have to opt in for this before or after you completed swiss?

Meaby more clear, can you and must you tell players in advance how many people are going to be in a S.E.

With enough players, it will cut to finals top 2, top 4, 8, etc... as single elimination playoff, but I think your asking if it will place all players into single elim, and no it does not, and yes, if you do want to cut to finals, you do have to select it up front. Also if you have enough players for TOP 4, it will allow you to select playoff for 3rd and 4th also as an up front option.

It does tell you , and to some extent give you some flexibility to select top 2 or top 4, top 4 or top 8 , and so on depending on how many players you have in an age group.

You see how many round will be played before you start, and if you've got enough ppl you have the option of having a single-eliminatsion cut off.

Like this with 1 10- player, 6 11-14 players and 6 15+ players

Age Group # Players # Regular Rounds # Players in Finals # Total Rounds

15+ ------- 6 ----------- 3 ------------------ 2----------------- 4------------
11-14 ----- 6 ----------- 3 ------------------ 2 -----------------4 -----------
10- ------- 1 ----------- 3 ------------------ 0 -----------------3 ------------

He that looks great, so it tells you from which agegroup to select the top 2,4 or whatever to play the single elemination cut off.
Or does it even automatic transfer the top players to the S.E. rounds.
Like in the example of Daddiurse the 2 top finishers of 11-14 and 15+ will be in top 4 and you can't change it. Fantastic if it's this way.
Or do the 2 players of 11-14 only play 1 round SE and the 15+ a seperate one? (oeps found the answer on that, they play only one round)

Does this also mean if you have something like this 13 in 10-, 12 in 11-14 and 3 in 15+, the most top cut players will indeed come from the 10- and 11-14.

This makes me
That's really a big difference.

But what if the 10- wins all games (this can happen you know).

But what if the 10- wins all games (this can happen you know).

In my test run above, two 11-14 players and two 15+ players pass on to the single-elim. cut-off, but they do not play across age barriers...

So this means that the one 10- player won't enter the cut-off even by winning all 3 games.

How do one split the prizes for such a tournament? Here's some options:

1) Prizes are devided among age brackets according to the size of that bracket. (Can be hard sometimes if there isn't like 1 booster in the prize pool per player, if so it's easy).

2) Prizes are given to the Top 4 players, two equal first prizes and two equal second prizes (this is unfair for the 10- player that doesn't have a chance anyhow...)

3) Prizes are equally spilt between the groups (easier to calculate, but extremely unfair for players in large pods, and TOO fair to that one 10- player, who wins no matter what...)

In given situation I would put the 10- not in a seperate pod, but add to the 11-14. They are the opponents anyway.
The same if you have 2 players in a pod, just add them to the nearest agegroup.
That way they will have at least an equal change to play a top cut and you won't have less problems splitting up prices.
(this is by the way one of the situations a manual pairing would be prefered)

1) you can round it up or down, sometimes it will even lead to give out 1 booster less to avoid a real problem.
2) Add the 10- in the 11-14 and problem solved.
3) This is how price awarding for a CC works, and I would leave it only to that tournament to split up that way.

Option 2 looks the best way.

From what I have read in the POP forums, Option 3 is the way POP wants it done. The 10- players are the future of the game. Let's reward them, keep them interested, and encourage them to invite their friends to come play. Every tournament should have three winners: the best player in each age category. And the prizes that each winner receive should be equal.

David

If POP is providing the prices you should always follow their guidelines on how to give them out.
I wonder how the International NATIONALS with only 1 trip to earn are going to be handled..

If you pay the prices yourself, you are free to split them up in the way you want.
IF there are not many prizes to award, and you run a tournament with only 1 or 2 10-. Try to give them both a prize (booster) and split up the remaining prizes between 2 groups. If the 1 or 2 players are added to a pod, they would have always a reward and a change to earn more.

For anyone that is a TO or a PTO, the new Tournament Manager Software has been released!

I've been using it for quite some time, and it does a pretty good job.

Below was on the OP forum site today

Tournament Operations Manager version 1.0 has been release. Any Tournament Organizer can download it off of the website.

1. First, log in to http://op.pokemon-tcg.com
2. Go to the Tournament > Rules & Resources page
3. Click on the Tournament Operations Manager 1.0 link
4. Make sure to read that entire page, including the license agreement
5. Either accept or decline the license agreement (You will only be allowed to download if you accept)
6. The software will automatically start downloading

While the software is downloading and installing, you can read the README file which has directions on installing, changes that have been made, and known errors with the program.

There is a help file in the program, so please refer to the help file before contacting POP.

Thanks,
Eric

Do you fall into this category?

For anyone that is a TO or a PTO, the new Tournament Manager Software has been released!

Sorry if this question has already been answered, but I didn't feel like reading through all of the discussion here ^^;; I did see something of this sort being written about, but not a clear enough answer.

Does the program decide how many players get into the top cut, or can the TO decide? Say, I'm running an Age Modified Swiss CC with 4 kids in the 10-, 8 in the 11-14, and 10 in the 15+. I'd like to do T2, T4, and T4 respectively, but will the program allow this? Or will the program say the 10- can't play a top cut, cos there're not enough players? I would like to rule out luck as much as possible, and top cuts are a great way of continuing a tournament after all the swiss rounds have been played...

Just a short advice, if you are a TO, download the program and do some test-tournaments. The program is build after the latest POP Tournament Guidelines, and oviously will follow that standard. It will not be a program to run unsanctioned tournaments where you can overrun the official procedure (keep the old program to do that stuff, or do it manually).

(Oh, and if you test-results are the same as mine, none of the 4 10- will enter a cut-off. There has to be 6 players in that group to have a cut-off. And cut-offs are age specific only even though the main part is age-modified swiss. You can decide if you want cut-offs or not, but you cannot create your own cut-off disregarding age, or run more rounds that the rules say)

What will happen with those countries having Nationals and only awarding 1 trip (not 1 trip each agegroup just 1 trip)?
It's impossible to get 1 overall winner with this program, unless you put everyone in 1 agegroup?

It will still determine who is in first regardless of the structure of the event.

Phil are you saying there is a kind of overall ranking when the tournament is done? Mixing all age players into 1 group to show their ranking?

And does a 10- get an extra % added to their tiebreak if playing 1 or 2 agegroups up, due to lack of players in their own group.

Yes, you can choose to show all of the players together on one standings page or per age group inside TOM just like with TMS if the tournament is an Age Modified Swiss or Single Elimination style. However if the smallest age group has more than eight players then the event will be in pods based on age and there is no way to combine those standings together. It would just be standings per pod.

Not that I know of.

Oke, now about manual uploading.
You did a tournament manual and want to upload it.
Do you first have to mark/put in how many players in each pod before entering pairings and outcomes?

And will give the on-line system you only space for input the recomended amount of rounds.
Because if not, there is not a single problem to upload round robin.

Mm, I'm having a problem, cos I forgot my password, and now I'm completely stuck. I know, I'm an idiot ^^;;;

I can't create a new profile, because it says the POP number I'm using is already registered. I've deleted all the previous profiles, but it still won't let me create a new one. Help?

Oh, and how do I uninstall the program? Or is that simply not possible?
