Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Turn 2 Arcanine ex (Finally Deoxys-on!)

hey Johnny, I would like to ask. What do you think a matchup between Polistall and T2 RK9 would go? I'm just wondering because you have had some experience.

The only thing Arcanine ex is good for is brute force. All it has is powerful attacks and a very useful Poke Body. Medicham ex and Hariyama ex both have very annoying Poke Bodies that are used for disruption and locking.

If you like sheer power, use Arcanine ex(or Hariyama ex). If you like disruption, use Medicham ex(or Cacturne ex).

Whiscash- I have LunaSol in there for disruption. Arcanine can spread around damage just like Medicam can and he has 10 more HP than both Medicham and Hariyama

Poli-Stall: This match is hard because you are weak so they hit you for 80 then run away. If you see a poliwag, reversal it up and kill it because you have little chance of survival after they get up a politoed. DON'T USE REVERSAL ON A FOSSIL. I did that in my third round match and it cost me (keep in mind this was my second time playing a poli-stall deck). I say the match-up is 60/40

I know why Luna-Sol is in there and it works perfectly, but all I meant is that Arcanine ex doesn't disrupt or lock itself.

but also against Medi and Hariyama you have the edge because
Hariyama locks in the stadium. against you what do they do? They rely on playing a stadium that hurts their opponent. Since the only stadium that hurts you hurts them too (Desert Ruins) They pretty much lose.
Medi also relys on it's body shutting down powers. The only thing it shuts down is the Lapras other than that they lose.

60-40 in favore of Arcanine ? or in favor of Politoed ex?

HOW is it 60/40 RK9???

Politoed is water and isn't RK9 weak?Yea...

all the have to do is Swallow up for the ko

Or use Punch and Run twice. Yes, Arcanine is a quick set up doing a little damage early, but you might be giving Arcanine a little too much credit. JMHO I would give Polistall the 60-40

That's why you have to reversal up the poliwag or poliwhirl and kill it first

True, but you can't depend on a Reversal at the beginning of the game. BTW I just played a rk9 deck 3 times and won all times with Polistall.

Good article,i like it

3 Lunatone 2 Solrock are more stable, you can add some swoop teleporter in case you get the wrong basic
pokemon on your beginning turn.

I think Cyclone energy is better than pokemon reversal. For pokemon Reversal,if you get tail, the card automatically goes to discard pile.If you attach cyclone to RK9(main attacker),if you are lucky ,your opponent send out his/her powerful pokemon with no choice. That's my opinion

Arcanine can't afford to attach an energy other than a fire or react each turn.

As far as the politoed matchup is concerned, I'd put the matchup numbers far closer to 80/20 in favor of politoed, provided you know how to play it. There's a trick to it that makes it nearly impossible for arcanine to win (in fact, I'd say that if you pull it off, Arcanine can't win, period), and the trick assumes that arcanine DOES hit its reversal flips. Happy hunting for that one...

well Dendro, its not that hard to figure out ( unless your thinking of something else. ) All you really need to do is sacrafice 2-3 Poliwags by seting them down, and letting your opponent reverse it up. Once they have used them all up all you need to do is bring out the last Poliwag, power it up into Politoed ex, and Punch and Run untill there heads are spinning. Poli vs. RK9 is definitly in Poli's favor period.

but by the time you sac 3 poliwags and evolve to the toed EX, he'll have 2-3 arcanine's ready for big hitting and overrun will tear you apart... so I dunno if that's the solution
