Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

US Nationals Info Announced

Even if it's not on the east coast, it's a GREAT choice of city.

Bad weekend for those of us already planning on going to Origins. No surprise though.

Can I be the first to call foul?

I mean, yay, its in Indy and its closer to some bigger things and hotels, etc. And its closer to Ohio, which is another plus for me and many others last year who were upset it moved from ORIGINS.

But, really, POP? Against ORIGINS again?

As someone who WORKS for different game companies during the summer, this is a HUGE deal for me and many other players like me. Why did you choose the same weekend as ORIGINS AGAIN!? I can understand doing this last year, but if this something I can expect for years to come, let us know so that I can tell companies early in the year that no , I can't work for them. This is the second year in a row this has happened and it's starting to get a bit annoying. Call this sour grapes, but if this is a pattern we as a community need to know about this.

~Cardz (more than a little upset).

This is good news, but at the same time, I really don't like this 3-day event idea. Two-day events seem smoother.

I don't see what all the fuss about the date is. Why does it matter even if they're trying to take business away from Origins? I don't see any problem.

Purely my opinion but I don't think POP can schedule Nat's any other weekend.

Doing something earlier runs into conflicts with school time. Schools in the Pacific Northwest often run to mid June before Summer break. Parents do not like taking their kids out of school for a vacation. (Maybe should is a better word that do.)

Pushing it later puts a crunch on sending out the ranking invites to Worlds. As it stands now, those getting Worlds invites through the rating process often have just over one month to make their travel plans.

I can't speak for TPCi but I think it's a little stretching to say that they can't bump it back or forward a week or two from the static date it's been at. I don't know many kids who are in school into June and I don't know any schools that start up in July.

1. so people can go to both
2. so that good relations can be maintained between different communities (this is seen as kind of a 'slap in the face' of origins for many people)

2 day events seem smoother? for masters, going 9 rounds, or 8 and a best of three, with even more people this year, and then having to play.

this also allows options. what if 1300 people show up to preregister, and they have plans for 1200? they know will show up the next day. hmm, maybe run masters, then the juniors/seniors the next day, so more room is available. that extra day, i hope, can be used creatively for more than just alleviating the judges' feet haha.

but yeah, the more time given, the better. less stress and process, and it winds up pretty similarly for most people anyways.

Well, I guess this confirms that there is a US Nats.

Until downtown Indy gets swallowed by a giant sinkhole. Watch, it'll happen.

Now I just have to figure out how I'm getting there. Madison doesn't fly there directly, and I don't want to take a Greyhound bus after what happened in 2003 coming back from GenCon. Maybe I'll just have to drive (I guess I shouldn't complain, but oh well).

Thank you Pokemon for a new location, hopefully there will be Food Vendors in this Convention Center!!

The Convention Center is connected to a Mall, the Mall has a Food Court. Food will not be an issue this year. Unless 1200+ Pokemon Players rushing a mall food court counts. But still better then last year.

That food court can handle the lunch rush of GenCon. I think Nats won't be a problem!

Aside from the mall food court, there's all sorts of places to get food. The Hyatt hotel (connected to the convention center by skywalk) has a McDonald's and a Subway on the ground floor. There is also a small food court in the convention center itself, but the food is also relatively pricey ($4 slice of pizza).

The hotel connected to the Convention Center (Hilton I think) has a Subway and a McD last time I was there about 3 years ago. So that is also a plus. :thumb:

Yes I love this. My Uncle lives near there so I don't Even need a hotel. It was about time they got this info out.

WOW...this is very interesting!

I am a regular judge in Indianapolis...I honestly didn't see this coming and it's a completely awesome surprise!

WOWOWOWOW...maybe we can get Indy Pokemon to grow even more than it already is! This is an incredible opportunity!

Thanks PUI! Thank you, thank you!

P.S.: Indy really is a good location. Indiana itself may not be the most exciting place in the U.S., but we know how to hold conventions and things of the sort, believe me. There are so many organizations who have their headquarters here it's ridiculous, and there is a reason for that.
