Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

US Nationals Moved...

If PUSA is "SOOO" excited to be moving Nats, why does the title have the ellipsis (...) at the end, usually stating a bit of "ugh." The title seems to say, Nats got moved. Oh joy...

Because the title was not written by someone from PUSA? If you look at the actual announcement, you will see the title ends with a "!".

I tried to not say anything, because when I do open my mouth, it ends bad most the time. but here I go....

Ok, first and foremost, I am a Ohio player, but I would feel this way if I was a Cali player or whatever. I don't like the move, but not because its no longer a convince for myself and my friends here, but because I truly believe that attendance was going to go down. Origins was not just Pokemon, but just about every other game out their. 4 days of gaming, and new experiences. Yes, the majority of Pokemon players are solely playing Pokemon, but what about parents of brothers and sisters that play other games. Its perfect if lets say I was a parent, and my kids played Pokemon, and I played Magic, and they were holding a Big Magic event at Origins. It would be perfect, were all happy.

I think the location is a good one, but I think it should not conflict with Origins. I also believe that Nat's SHOULD be at a Convention, its much more diverse.

I think part of the move was space. Pokemon needed more space, I think they should of taken half the TCG room. Their would still be plenty of room for all the other games, with plenty of room for Pokemon players. Last year, during Nat's, WOTC(PES) and Bandai were under distress when we were invading their gaming areas. They were trying to run their events, but they couldn't. PUI did everything in their power to help, but 900+ ppl are hard to control, but even so some players ignored them. I am sure Bandai and/or PES talked to GAMA about what happen, and wanted something done about 09.

I think its a huge mistake because of the way Pokemon got around at Origins. 2 years ago, due to prior obligations, I could not play in any Pokemon Events, but did attend Origins. I went around the Vendor hall, to a Vendor I know from Gen Con(Where Pokemon gets NO love) and he was shocked at how Pokemon was. He had NO idea that it was this big. I told him "Yeah 700+ players, the game is FAR from dead, as MANY PEOPLE THINK."

Last year, I saw him again, and he said he started a Pokemon League at his store and it was going great. 07 to 08, if you looked at the Vendor hall, their was more Vendors Sell/Buying/Trading Pokemon cards. A Convention gets your name out their, and shows that the game is alive and booming.

I also think, and this is just the quick version, because so much planning would need to be involved, but maybe the U.S. needs 2 Nat's. I know, I know, its called 'Nationals' for a reason. But I think the country has the player base to support it. One towards the West Coast, and one towards the East cost, and THEY BOTH SHOULD BE AT A CONVENTION! This would make both sides of the country happy, and the players in the middle could decided what is closest. Now many details would be needed, and their are many flaws with this too, I understand and KNOW THIS, so don't go into the flaws with this, I see them, but hey, PUI's current plan is not perfect.

But I think they are making a mistake. I think they will see that the number of players will drop, and I hope next year, they change their decision about moving it away from a convention.

Problem with me? I can't go early. I need to go Thursday night, or else I'm not going at all since I would miss the first day of my summer classes. Nationals is TWO days after my school ends, and my classes start on the last day of school, thus leading up to why I love Ohio so much. I actually missed my flight for 08 Nats, and we drove there at 8 at Night at made it. Can't do that with St. Louis.

Don't worry guys. In 2-3 years, there will be no choice for Origins. It's going to be completely dead by then.

Either that, or Origins will become much more accomodating for pokemon and we'll be back there. Money is a huge reason to be more accomodating - let's face it, it isn't just the ticket price they're losing, it's all the vendors money too, refreshments, hotels are not going to particularly like losing the revenue from Origin's biggest game. It wouldn't surprise me if you could say they lost millions in revenue to this. Time will tell.

Um... That's our title. Actually the title as written by the original poster, chromecatz.

PUI's title has an exclamation point.

If I had realized it sent that message, I probably would have edited it.

Just shows how much you care about going to nats IMO =/

I think you might be right about that. But I'm concerned that it says more about the gaming industry than it does about Origins. Our game seems to be doing great. Here's hoping the good times keep going.

As for the ellipse vs. exclamation point, I read the ellipse as a drum roll - DRAMATIC!

For those thinking there won't be Pokemon before Friday, you're forgetting who's front door Nationals is being held in front of.

I'd be SHOCKED if Vince doesn't have every League location of his going every night that week, and I get the feeling that he'll do everything in his power to get stuff happening at the AC on Thursday at the very least. And, knowing Vince, he's probably got some stuff up his sleeve that I couldn't even begin to think about.

Nobody's gonna be left in the cold when it comes to Pokemon events in the area, I can almost guarantee that.

I still don't understand why so many people are up in arms over this. I'm the first to slate POP when they do stupid things, but they're building a bespoke tournament because Origins is too successful. What's not to like about that?

I still can't help that most people angry its not at Origins are saying that because of the convenience factor. I'm sure in time, US nationals will build up into an event in its own right. I appreciate that people could do a whole lot of other things at Origins. But why should that be a consideration for Pokémon?

What's not to like about Pokémon getting larger and better? I think its a good move, let's hope US nationals goes from strength to strength.

Nats was in my home town, and I was looking forward to a trip home and taking everyone I know out to some great places, Like Hound Dogs or plenty of other AWESOME places in the C-bus...

But a vacation sounds great. St. Louis in the summer time COULDN'T be boring.

I'd bet that attendance at nats will continue to rise. If it doesnt, itd be because of the economy more than the location move. I will miss origins, but I hope POP holds an excelent event in its place.

I remember talking to Mike at Origins about how crappy the convention was becoming. Nonetheless, I have been going there for quite a few summers in a row and some of my fondest memories are from Nationals. I'll miss it pretty bad, but I'm ready to move forward!

Still though my irrational emotional attachment to Origins is going to make things tough!

Can we say the BIGGEST Piglet Draft in history??

Well no more of "THE ACE"
<.<

But yeah, I don't like this change either. I went to nats for the first time last year, and loved the city, the convention, and the fact my Uncle lived about 15 min. away.
