Uxie/Shuppet Donk: How Do You Tech Against SP's and Dialga G?

Playing with Uxie/Shuppet Donk, there are only two decks that I've had any trouble against: speedy SP's (BlazeRay/LuxApe) and Dialga G.

What are the counters to these decks? Is it even possible for Shuppet Donk to beat them?

The HP on their basics is anywhere from 80-120 HP, which is difficult to get the donk, and extra hard long-game when they have several Pokemon on their bench.

And Dialga G? The Deafen Lock is almost unbreakable. At least when you're against Spiritomb you can use Cyclone Energy and get rid of the lock temporarily. But because Dialga's is an attack that affects your entire next turn, if you use Cyclone they just bring up something with free retreat and do Deafen again on their next turn.

Is there a way to stop it even for one turn so you can play your Trainers? What are the techs against SP's and Dialga G?

Looker's Investigation really messes up Shuppet. Team Galactic's Wager does too.

Yes, I've also tried out the Shuppet deck. I lost to nearly everyone who had these cards. At least I still had Absol G's Doom News when all else fails.

@BJJ763: The question is not how to tech against Uxie/Shuppet. The question is, when playing with Uxie/Shuppet, how do you tech against SP's like LuxApe and Dialga G? This is why it's important to read the thread and not just the title.

@Ry Guy: So your answer to the question is, "There are no techs. You just lose to them"? What did Absol G's Doom News do to help in these match-ups?

At my Cities, I went 3-2, beating GlisTomb, Flygon/Weavile, and Abomasnow, but losing to two SP decks. I don't want that to happen again.

I'd say tech in a blaziken fb tech but that probally wont work because it's 2 cards for the pokemon and then 2 fire energy and all it would do would get you 2 prizes because you kill a dialga, they ko your blaziken and then you may be able to get a KO before they start the defen lock up again. Luxape maybe tech in a toxicroak g promo but that too only gets you a free prize. Tell you the truth, i've never really seen anyone beat sp with shuppet donk.

I think the question really shouldn't be "what techs work against Shuppet?" so much as "how does Shuppet deal with those techs?"

@Cyrus and Prime: The title was meant to be unfinished. The "..." means that there is more to the question, which can only be found from reading the thread. Uxie/Shuppet Donk: How Do You Tech Against Speedy SP's and Dialga G? The ellipsis leaves off that last part. Sorry for the confusion.

@corrupti0n: My experience against any deck that has Infernape 4 LV. X or Luxray GL LV. X is that they use Intimidating Roar or Bright Look to take Mr. Mime out of the active position and bring up something else for a OHKO. Mr. Mime never gets to stay active against these speedy SP's, and thus becomes useless.

A fun tech would be Lumineon LA. You can use her Pokemon power to bring Shuppet straight from their hand to the active position, and bring someone would has enough damage to OHKO the Shuppet.

Short answer: You don't.

Long answer: Dialga players will laugh in your face as your silly little trainer/tool less Shuppet bounces off of of their Diglas. To them, you are like a gnat trying to knock over an Elephant by ramming repeatedly into it.

To sum up: Just forget it. There is no tech that you can use that will ever let you beat Dialga while using Shuppet.

V Or, you pick one of those 3 lovely options.

1. Pray they start with unown G
2. Pray you go Second
3. Pray you can donk them

That is the best thing to do. However if you actually want to make Shuppet be able to have a realistic chance to beat Dialga you will drastically have to change your deck. There is an Uxie with a power that stops your opponents from using the same attack next turn. You could also use Relicanth or something that has a disableish attack but it will still be super hard and very lucky if you win.

Well, you could always try who shuppet's ghostly cousin, gengar, hired to assist with sp:
Machamp. lol. :thumb:

I would say it's not worth building a deck against them unless it's heavy in your meta.

But in that case, might as well not even use Shuppet. Shuppet's not made to play against them.
Every deck has a counter, and in some extreme cases, auto-losses.

If you want to even challenge them, you'll have to change your deck, it won't be a shuppet donk anymore.

I play an SP deck that runs Dialga G lv. X... Flygon lv. X gives me nightmares

I am not familiar with the card list for an Uxie/Shuppet deck, so I am not sure that there could be room to add Flygon...

Only way I could see countering Dialga G is to wait for the next set and tech in a Dunsparce.
The Dunsparce as the same attack as Shuppet, but it does 10 less damage.

Regice, buddy. It's bad against Flygon, so don't lay it down, Against Dialga, though, just take bench prizes until they're pressure into a misplay and pray they don't deafen T1.
