VG Nationals Tip of Day - Prepare to surrender your Game Paks!

They are truly just looking at the pokemon you used and the items on them... if you cheated on them in anway like using cheated carbos or something or making them shinys you are screwed because you messed with your teams codeing...

besides that don't worry and you get the new micro with pikacuh on it for surrenderning your game I think it is a fair trade myslef...

Back to back posts merged. The following information has been added:

and as for who ever blabed all over the next about cheating this is why they had this added thank you...

I have done some research locally and I have found evidence that those who would not want to surrender their game pak at JAA have had a already known history of cheating with a game enhancer, while those who would surrender their games paks have had no known history of cheating. Funny that huh?

OK, I will take this one head-on.

1. You bought the Japanese Game Pak.
2. You traded in the Pokemon there, some bred.
3. You got a Celebi from the Japanese stuff legally, and put it in your game.
4. Nintendo doesn't want Americans having Celebi or anything used just because we're Americans.

Now how would you feel knowing you did it legitly and they deleted something?
Nintendo's done things like this before, I witnessed it.

You know that a sophisticated cheater can easily circumvent any anti-cheating device that Nintendo might have?
Nintendo having any sort of real security is a pipe dream. It'd be nice to think that there's a way to prevent sophisticated cheaters from winning, but that's simply not true.
Of course, Nintendo's anti-cheating will probably eliminate 99% of the cheaters who cannot properly cover their tracks.

And yes, Nintendo does delete Celebis found on American cartridges, legitimate or otherwise.

Why would they delete them _now_ if they're available for download at the JAA tour stops?

Dunno, it seems dumb. Maybe they check how it was gotten, then they delete it if it wasn't form the download center. I also agree though, it's really easy to get passed the cheating devices. =/ Not saying I'm cheating, just stating a fact.

They don't want people to know the Japanese and American games aren't compatible, but I know better. :)

I'm not at liberty to say due to secrecy reasons and source, but I do have a confirmation that will make people cringe if they heard it.

And I took programming in school. You wouldn't understand it unless you did programming things.

..Just out of curiosity, what level are the celebis that you can get legitly from Japanese..whatever?

I'd think that if they WERE deleting celebi's the only way they'd know they weren't from the JAA tour (assuming you got them legally but from a Japanese game) would be if they were below level 70? (I REPEAT. ASSUMING THAT YOU GOT IT LEGALLY)

...and I gotta say there had to have been a crap load of sharking going on at the JAA stop in Atlanta.. (or people had a lot of friends who sharked).. After mixing records with a bunch of people there.. the stuff I found in secret bases was NUTS.
Mews and Deoxys out the wazoo... and for some unearthly reason I found like two bases that had all the Pokemon (Which included Lugia, Ho-oh and stuff like that) with moves like metronome, spore, and cosmic power o_O (I was like "what the heck!?")

Okay lets clarify the only Pokemon that would get Pokemon USA's attention is Mew. Unless I missed a promotion where the old sea chart was avalable for download, there have been no promotions for the mysterious pokemon. Even then, I question things that nightmare have said as he has not described them, so if you have proof something any of us is wrong please spell it out for us.

Now also understand that Nintendo have very little involvement in this promotion and its more of Pokemon, USA's party. In case any of you have been out of it for the last 5 years they are different companies with many things they both work on together (mainly in the video games though).

Okay now lets completely clarify, Pokemon is probably going to detect cheating if you actually cheated. We haven't any incodents reported yet to prove this wrong, but then again we only have had 1 event so far. So frankly aren't we all overeacting? I am willing to believe that if any cheats and wins at a JAA will get caught while anyone who fairly raises their Pokemon will earn their prizes despite if they interact with Japanese versions or no matter what promotional Pokemon it has.

Celebi shows up at Lv. 10 in the Japanese game, with the name "Serebii" in Japanese.

Also, I care not to tell because it will get people in Pokemon USA in trouble. If you want to know see me in person in NY. I will still be there regardless.

I've heard that the Celebi you get at JAA has the trainer ID "10ANNIV" or something like that. SO that'd be a way they could looks for unlegit Celebi's (unless they legitly got it from a Japanese pak)

*Buh-dum PSH!*
There is little difference betwen the Japanese and the American cartridges other than the language. There is no "t3h 1337 h4xx0r" knowledge involved in that, and I affirm this status with a "you don't know anything".

Fantasy, the problem there is that if I can get a Celebi on my American game, I'm also capable of changing the Trainer ID of my pokémon, definately not a difficult task.

EDIT - I don't think you people understand just how easy it is to get around Nintendo. There is no way for them to tell the difference between a pokemon that looks legit (a pokemon produced by a cheater who has modified the stats to account for EV training, who has reduced EVs to zero, who has distributed ballanced IVs, has changed the trainer ID to either their own or a valid one, have set the "caught at" location, and have created valid evolution strings) and one that actually is. The reason I don't compete anymore is because that anyone with half a brain and $30 can foil Nintendo and walk home with a small title.

Japanese Celebi doesn't have the trainer name. They could delete it from that.

Yes, your exactly right! lol, sorry just overreacting from someone who isn't ignorant of the capabilties of cheating devices.

Ok, I forgot about the OT... n/m then =/

I still don't see why they wouldn't want you to have a Japanese celebi if you got it legally, though..
though I want to point out again that I meant IF YOU DID NOT CHEAT IN ANY WAY. (reffering to the stuff about 'oh, you can just change the OT!")

Edit: I forgot this when I mentiond secret bases earlier.. but.. if anyone goes to NYC and mixes records with the girl who won in Atlanta... You might get my secret base on your game if it didn't get overridden (She was one of the first people I mixed records with though, so I'm thinking it probably DID get overridden)
(and no, I'm not accusing her of cheating.. I never even found her base)

I can't wait to see how bad it's gotten when I go back to Houston.

what? the cheating?
you CAN'T mean the cheating cause.. OOOOOH. it can't be detected by anyone. ever. even if the people cheating go all over the internet and say they're cheating. >_>
If done correctly, one can rig their gameboy to emit waves that hypnotise the judges into thinking that Sableye can have wonder guard.

But, OH! If you're not a leet haxxor and you do it wrong, then nintendo will take your game pak, delete all the pokemon, flush it down the toilet and then hire ninjas to personally track you down and kill you upon sight.

(and there's gonna be at least two people in Houston who won't be cheating, my friend and her boyfriend are both going..and not cheating)
