Pokemon ex, ie: Charizard ex, are a very popular Pokemon class! But what does it mean? Why are they called "ex" Pokemon? Could it mean they're expensive? You draw extra prizes? They're extraordinary? WHAT DOES IT MEAN?! TELL ME TKS!

I think it's Pokemon X, but the 'ex' is attached due to copyright issues.

Like, whenever a new, breaking development or something is created, the letter X is attached.

What made the Powerpuff Girls? Chemical X!

Look at all the attacks that do more damage when the defending Pokemon is a Pokemon-EX. Almost all of them have the word "extra" in them.

Maybe "ex" in the sense of "former"? Like for example, Mewtwo became so powerful that he could no longer be considered Mewtwo, and thus became "Mewtwo ex"?

Then the ex would have to be in front, wouldn't it?

This is a pretty silly thing to be focused on. I mean, at least "ex" is written in an actual alphabet. What the hell does * mean??

It stands for Extra. That's undeniable. Want proof?
Look at several attacks.
Extra Call (Absol?) searches for Pokemon ex.
Extra Ball (Several Pokemon) does extra damage to Pokemon ex.
There are probably several other cases of this. Ex stands for extra.

* = shiney

ex derived from "x". I donno if anyone remember Revelation Lugia was Lugia was known as pokemon X. maybe from generation "X" or an abbrivation for nEXt.
