What is your opinion on SP Pokemon?

Yeah, it's a shame that SPs are trashing the format. Thank goodness there's no hard or soft counters that are running rampant in this format to prevent them from being so over widely played. That way we all know to play SP for the easy win. Things like Gyarados, Beedrill, Flygon, Machamp, Gengar, Dusknoir DP? Mewtwo? Come on, no one runs that.

Thank goodness, I might add. That way we can focus on BDIF SPs like Rayquaza C and Charizard G and Electivire FB!

My goodness, your the best. Did you know that?

The only real problem I see right now is that so much damage can be dropped out of nowhere. Due to Crobat with poketurn, pluspower, and super scoop up, its so difficult to turn a game into a chess match because you cant anticipate so much extra damage. SP's are wonderful because theres so much to them. They can be changed easily according to playstyle. Although im not crazy about the unexpected power spray it does add an extra level of difficulty to playing the deck because you have to decide how crucial each power is and whether its worth your Power Spray.

First let me say I come from playing Pokemon from Base Set up until Neo Genesis was released. I then quit and played Magic: the Gathering for the better part of a decade. I started playing Pokemon again between RR and SV. I can say I was kind of taken aback by SPs and the entire idea of them at first but now really love the idea of them and the play mechanics they entail. They are powerful and fast Pokemon but they have many drawbacks and so many highly playable and relevant counters in the format. I'd also like to say that SP is not autopilot as many of you have claimed. It's highly involved and takes just as much if not more thinking than most Stage 2 decks as you really must win quickly, if you let a Stage 2 deck take you into the late game your chances of winning decrease significantly.

I know SPs will always have a special place in my heart as I won my very first Victory Medal since returning playing Luxray GL/Blaziken FB/Infernape 4 which was a big goal of mine. (To win a Medal during my very first BR season)

SP takes a lot more skill than a lot of people think. It's Luxray that made a lot of SP autopilot. People just look at the trainers used to compliment SP Pokemon and they just go "OMGWTF BROKEN LOLZ"

Unless you happen to get the ideal start for a T2 Ape, SP hits for very little damage and must be played carefully.

I'm positive no deck has ever been "auto-pilot".
Generally what to pick with Luxray is a game breaking choice.
Same with split bomb.
When to let off deafen.
What to cosmic power away.
What to discard with Kingdra.

Need more?

Yeah thats so much skill. Did you have to stick the cards in sleeves and search lists on the internet all by yourself. And mostly you will have to write decklists and NUMBERS

I dont get why pokemon isnt played only by scientists

@XYZ_Sniper: There is a HUGE difference between discarding cards with Kingdra (It won't matter in the lategame at all) and picking something up with Luxray, or split bomb. Cosmic Power, Deafen and Kingdra discards don't really matter if you have a brain which works.

I actually did hate SP at first, I thought they were too broken. Now I realized, there are ways to beat it too, not unbeatable. There are evolution decks that are powerful, and SP Pokemon can be automatic but a little less powerful, there's the trade off in most of them.

SPs are simply annoying. I think they are geared more for the newer player who started around MD-on. They are all very simple with little inovation. More so, they all basically, going back, play on auto-pilot. Unless you are a complete idiot, you should make decent choices.

SPs are not the best, however. They have shown, time and time again, that they kill themselves on draw late game. They are not the best choice in a major event where you have to make it through 8 rounds + T16. Even so, they have their place. They are very good in a BR-like event where you just need 2/3 or 3/4 wins to make T2/T4. SPs are also very inconsistant. Infray occasionally gets its 100 damage out that players seem to fall back on in an "anti SP arguments". As a whole, I've seem SP decks doing an average of 40/turn or 80/turn-with-major-concequuences.

Overall, I believe that SPs are neither broken nor terrible. They have their place in the format.

I appreciate who ever develops the pokemon cards ability of imagination and ability to create new and fresh ideas into the game, however with the feel and tradition of pokemon I find it to be widely inappropriate.

Also I think that having the first card to be played on your opponents turn to be something so linear is a bad idea. (If it's not the first one then I apologize for my ignorance.)

Sp's are not unbeatable, but thy are overpowered. Not only do a lot of them have game changing poke powers and bodies, but they have lv. X cards also. If your going to have evolved pokemon as basic, don't make Lv.X's out of them, Lv.x in one stage? That's too much.

It amazes me how the complaints come in waves, you guys used to complain all about Gardevoir and Gallade. After that we got Kingdra, and after that Machamp due to the donk situation. Now you've moved on to having complaints about SP Pokemon. Have you guys considered maybe the SP Pokemon were an after effect of the donk meta? Maybe the Lab felt the need to have basics that could quickly counter said decks?

If SP decks are so freaking overpowered, then why the heck is it that flygon (a set-up deck) has TONS of BR wins, and SP decks have only top cutted 10-20?

There is absolutely nothing overpowered about Sp, and the decks have far more drawback than you would expect.
Listing...
HP
Damage output
weakness
Extremely easy to misplay with.

 Oh no! did I just say SP decks require skill!?!
yes, yes i did. SP requires more skill than just about every deck in the format, the only thing that ever comes close is some flygon varient. (as far as possible away from the weavile varient) GG is on skill-tier 1 also.

SP = GOOD

well of course they do, I mean ultimate Frisbee requires skill, but I am not too impressed by it.

I still think that the basic pokemon situation is ridiculous. That is one of the main strategies of the game, and it is almost like saying in soccer you can now use your hands on certain parts of the field.

It's not as ridiculous when you think of all the basic pokemon hate in the game. Azelf MT, Machamp, Mewtwo X, to a lesser degree Mightyena, etc. etc.

I don't like SP decks that much because
1. Have bad match ups against SP counter decks
2. The hand is too big.
3. Gengar gets to KO with Poltergeist most of the time
4. Broken
5. Power Spray

What I like about them is:
1. You don't have to evolve
2. Energy Gain
3. Easy to level up
4. Poke Turn
5. Luxray GL Lv.X's Bright Look

Those are my opinions on SP decks.

yeah that is true fan boy, but i mean the basic pokemon like mewtwo, azelf are basic pokemon. I mean a mewtwo gengar deck would dominate sp's

It hurts my brain to see basic stage 2's, just saying. Aside from all the technical and gameplay aspects about SPs, I'm not a fan of a basic Charizard. THEY ARE MESSING WITH MY CHILDHOOD!
