What's up with Pidgey? (RBY)

Pidgey and family are Normal (weak against Fighting) and Flying (resistant to Fighting). This should result in normal damage with a Fighting attack, but for some reason my Yellow game is saying my Double Kick isn't very effective and seems to be halving the damage, as if Pidgey was missing its Normal type. A glitch, I guess. Anyone heard anything like this before?

Alot of the programming back then wasn't as great as compared to now. Today it goes by normal damage. Before, it would look at one type and counter it quickly with another type if it had two types. So Low Kick would get countered off by Pidgey's flying type.

Another perfect example is Slash. Before, Slash always resulted in Criticals when it was supposed to do normald damage, but had a high chance of a CH. Wasn't programmed right. Most of these issues got fixed around G/S/C.

Yeah, and others got changed too, mostly for the worst...

Magnamite/Ton was changed to Steel/Lightnig

Psychic was weakend

Hydro Pump lost accuracy

Bite was changed from Normal to Dark

My least fave of all

Wrap and "Wrap style" attacks were altered

I dotn know if this was fixed in GSC or RuSa, or if it stil works (didnt seem to when I tried it though on Saph) but, Toxic and Leech Seed would do same damage, so as Toxic took more HP, so did Leech Seed

Yeah, as we all know very well, the programming in the first games is definitely not perfect. I have had this happen to me with things like Earthquake on Grass/Poison types. It says "It's not very effective..." but I'm not sure if the damage is REALLY halfed or not.

BTW, I remember those evil experiences that Pidgeotto Trainer referred to... Agility (if needed... and if can learn it), Toxic, and then Wrap/Fire Spin/Bind. I couldn't stand those horribly annoying battles where I sat for numerous of turns praying that their Wrap/Fire Spin/Bind would miss (they have horrible accuracy... but not for the CPU).
