someone has to mention pooka so i guess i will

he helped me on my rookie season and for his age he is one of the better players and best deck builders in the game.

This is a tough question for me to answer with one name, so I will break it into parts.

Mr. Lucas, Dave, and my kids are what have kept me in this game as long as I have been. They are clearly my inspiration and motivation to do well at everything I do. Without them my Poke-life would have much less meaning and purpose. I want take take some space here and THANK THEM for all they have done and will continue to do for me. All the countless hours playtesting, on the phone, and just being there when they were needed means so much to me.

Biggs, Flint, Ryan, and all those who needed just a little help, have unknowingly pushed me to be the deck builder I have become. I strive hard to study and playtest nearly every combination of cards to avoid playing an archetype. I LOVE this aspect of the game. I will continue to help those in need, while sometimes not directly, obtain a new respect for a differnt style of play. Rogue!

Jason, Alex, Pooka, and the entire midwest metagame. You all have made me the PLAYER I am today. You all have pused me sometime to the breaking point. I guess it is true, What dont kill you only makes you stronger. Thank you.

I just want everyone to know what inspires me in this game....

ALL OF YOU!!!

See its not my own personal gain that I am most concerned with, it is all about my decks doing well. I love to see something I built do well, even if I am not the one using it. I take a huge amount of pride in what I bring to the table, and it gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling inside knowing that some of you have the utmost respect and confidence in my deck building abilities to even consider my builds.

I will continue to focus on breaking the format as often as possible. I thank all of you for believing in me.

Jimmy

Eskil/Kettler: Thanks for the kind words.

The first guy to really take me under his wing and show me how to play well was Pang Troung, otherwise known on the Gym as Gr81. He let me on his team on the #pokegym apprentice league. From there, I met and became good friends with Chris Peditto, aka DarkStarm, and Rudy Rodriguez. We tested a ton for the ECSTS and they both made the T4, while I finished 12th.

Chris and Rudy were both from Chicago and Chris introduced me to Jason Klaczynski and Alex Brosseau.

I became loose friends with them between the ECSTS and WCSTS. However, I became really good friends with Seena Ghaziaskar. At the WCSTS, Alex, Jason, Seena, and I hung out the whole time and that friendship has lasted to this day. I have always had a blast hanging out with those three and we have often even met up outside of events.

I'm not sure if I'd still be playing if it weren't for such cool and chill guys being in the game.

All FL People- with out thier "legit comantion", I am not pushed to do my best, with out them I don't think I could of went 6-3 (64th place) at my first national champion.

nice topic, strike :)

i have to say that i'd be more than pleased if my kids and/or my league kids showed not only the playing ability, but the class i've seen you demonstrate during your playing career.
i'll never forget the battlezone at the wotc store where you were paired against one of my -10 league kids, who was thrilled to have made it that far. instead of going for the quick and easy kill, you let the game go on almost to the point where he could have won. hope you manage to keep in touch with the game despite the demands of pre-med at 'SC...:)

another player who shall remain nameless has also impressed me with the way they stepped up and admitted when they did something wrong. everyone makes mistakes, but a true test of character is taking responsibility for it instead of waiting to be found out. that takes courage, indeed...

my own inspiration in this game comes from my kids, my league kids, and all the wonderful people i've met through this game, some of whom have become close friends outside of it. special props go to the 'gym admins and the POP team, who aren't nearly appreciated enough for all the hard work they do...

My inspiration is the whole state of Iowa. Pokemon is an idividual game for sure. But wherever I go, I try to rep Iowa to the fullest. So I wanna shout out to my peeps living in the Hawkeye state.

Justin Moran, IA - This is my dawg, right here. Holla! What? There's a Regionals in Pakistan? We goin road trippin.

(jaeger) Jay Hornung, IA - you're so hot. gj at 2nd at nats. reppin Iowa baby.
(otaku) Joseph Lee - For recruiting me. Blame this guy when I take away your Worlds invite this year.
Lauren S, IA - you need to get a pokegym account. i know you're reading this though.
Peter O, IA - Holla!
Andrew W, IA - wassup playa.

My inspiraton is a fellow at my local league who was in Seniors last season, and is just now moving up to Masters for this next season. This kid is an amazing player. Whenever I have an idea for a deck strategy, he's always one step ahead of me. He's got a good spirit and always makes the game fun. He recently accepted his invite to Worlds and performed well enough to make the top 16 in seniors. He is Breton Brander.

Let's see... inspirations.

First off I'd like to thank Kettler/Jimmy for the kind words.

As far as inspirations:

Everyone on Team R:
Alex- He got me back into the game. I owe everything I've ever done in pokemon to him. BFF.
Omar- for being the first non- Alex/Ryan to be on Team R and he and I pretty much introduced half the players who are friends with each other to one another. We're a perfect match and perfect matchmakers!
Bianchi- For being so GOOD and NEVER practicing.
Zachary- For being SO good looking and being on a VERY similar style level when it comes to deck-making (hence us going hand-in hand with destiny/ambush)
Josef- One of the funniest people I've ever met and always up to try new things out
Agustin- My best foreign friend. Thank God he's coming to see me. I miss this kid.
Adam- Me and him did a lot of work with decks, girls, and music.
Kettlez- The number of lengthy conversations from the ideas of circular logic to BDIFs... wow.
Chad/Pramawat- Two very underrated deck builders and players. Both won regionals and didn't get to worlds (lame).

Non-R:
Jimmy- One of, if not the, premier deckbuilder of the world AND a GODLY player.
Seena G- Awesome hanging out with him and watching him crush roselias underneath him. Also helped me a lot with poker. OBEDIENCE TO THE LEADER IS!

Pretty much everyone on lafonte/R that I talk to regularly.

My inspiration?

Jeremy Maron - He made me realize that it takes hundreds upon hundreds of hours of repetitive play to tweak and perfect your deck.

Frank Brown - When I first came to the Brisbane League he was cool and I looked up to him, he was a darn good player too. He inspired me to become better - and once I started beating him frequently, I knew that I was becoming a better player.

My Mum - The look on her face when she finds out that I won a city or state championship or whatever.

Another one of my inspirations is driving me and dedicating me to going to worlds next year, you know what it is? It is all the hate messages I am going to get :)

Jimmy Ballard and Pablo in terms of 'wanting to be like'

as far as my inspirations, all the friends I have across the world who make me strive to win so I get to see them once a year- Maurice, Jimmy, Jeroen, Mike, Black Jirachi (hehe) and Kev, and countless others who make the game worth playing.

Also the guys at league- Natty and Joey specifically.

and the person who imo is probably the smartest person ever at this game, Adam Ferguson who is responisble for a lot of my wins.

Vince Krekler -- He first gave me the desire to want to be a top tier tournament organizer and judge in this game. He's a person who just has fun, no matter the situation, and always puts on some of the best events that I've ever been to. He's tough, but fair when giving out rulings. I especially liked the way that he handled the MW Regionals Round 6 incident this past year.

Jared Spriggs -- A stellar example of keeping grounded in this game. For about two years, he was really the only PTO in the NE Illinois area that gave a shoot about this game. He routinely held prereleases in the 40s for some really pathetic sets (Sandstorm comes to mine). However, he always said that his reason for keeping in this game is that both he and his son enjoy playing. As long as either one is still enjoying that aspect of Pokemon, he is willing to put on events. I just wish that he would have the gusto to apply for Wisconsin States, cuz he'd really put on a good show for that.

Camille P-R (Pokemama) -- She completely revitalized Pokemon in Chicago, and she organizes events in Rockford!!! (about 1.5 hrs away) I haven't seen this much zest and zeal in the Chicago Pokemon community really since the Central Stadium Challange almost 7 years ago. Not only that, she has pulled simply insane numbers at her events (75 for a Prerelease on Worlds weekend, 70+ for a BR) and she just enjoys working this game. I have to give props to the entire family, as well. They have really given this game a shot in the arm, and just made sure that it wouldn't die.

These three people are the reason that I've been trying to become a top tier tournament organizer. I'm nowhere near that yet (and I doubt I'll ever get there), but I'm enjoying the ride!

my main

Jimmy B.- he is a great player and made great decks.I loved his creativeness and hes a great person to meet.:)
Eric C.- He is a great Player and also creative in deck making..

others:
Fl players
Kettler
Jason K
moss
alex B

My inspiration would be Erin Reed. When I first saw her, it was a crush at first sight. She moved years ago, but I still remember how she made me feel. Originally she wouldn't talk to me, but it was Pokemon that we became friends over. I hope that doesn't sound weird, or anything. Playing the game is how I remember her, somewhat. I also am inspired because it has always been interesting to me playing in a tournament, which I hope I get the chance to.
