Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Why don't all of the Japanese cards come out in English?

Were people this vocal when WotC didn't release the VS series cards? Cards being removed from sets, or a set being skipped completely, isn't new to the game.

I did not know what the VS that I have on 2 Japanese energy cards ment thanks for explaining that!!!

I traded for them at worlds because I thought they were cool but I wondered what the VS was for.

Then you have been VERY unlucky,
I've opened 2 boxes, and seen 6 get opened, all had 3-4 Lv. Xs in them.
Was your box sealed? :S

Yes, they were sealed. And I've been buying boxes since Base Set, I would know if the box was re-sealed.
Hopfully I'll get better luck with DP5. (Coming in later today)

There's your answer for why people weren't as vocal about the VS sets (aside from them being really bad, though a cool idea), people just didn't know about them.

We've got places like the 'Gym and Beach to give us all our news about what's going on for the Pokémon TCG, both here and in Japan. You really don't have to be "in the know" like you used to about stuff like that, cause it's all (more or less) provided for you.

It's all about money. 1 Lv.X per box make people buy more packs than 3 Lv.X per box. If you're not satisfied with that, just buy japanese boxes (but you will risk that some of the cards you get will never be printed in english).

Sadly, I found out these are 2-3 Lv. Xs per box.
They tend to have 2-3 of the same Lv. X in a single box, I was like :nonono:.

Uh... we ARE getting every card released in Japan (Excluding Promos).
Just be patient, for crying out loud.
PUI/POP/Overlord Schwimmer decided to rearrange Japan's DP3-DP5 a bit and extend them to span our DP3-DP6.
We're going to get all the cards by our sixth DP set. Don't freak out.

In 2008-2009 season we'll get those VS sets xD.

What are the VS sets. Like everyone else said it's all about the marketing and what gets more money. Welcome to the world of the American Business owners.

They're essentially sequels to the Gym Sets. All basic Pokemon, not used for major tournaments.
They were not all basic Pokemon. They had various stage 1 and stage 2 Pokemon, like Falkner's Pidgeot and Jasmine's Steelix, and trainers, like technical machines of the gym leader's.

I heard a reason it wasn't released was that it was too underpowered to be competitive, with stage 2s being 60-80 HP and attacks like those we saw in the E-sets.

Those Stage 1 & 2's were Basics. The Vs set was a set designed to introduce new players to the game. There was no Evolving. I can't remember if there were even Special Conditions.

That does not make any sense, PUI releases unpalayable cards all of the time. (remember the Regi *'s)
So that can not be the reason why all cards are not released in English.

Another mystery is why did the POP sets become so horrible all of the sudden, and is this a permanent change or will they get interesting again?

If you looked at my example a BASIC pokemon Marked as LUCARIO EX wouldn't be playable.

Or Ash's Donphan (basic Pokémon) wouldn't be in anyway fit into gameplay.

In short there will be no unhinged/unglued sets for Pokemon XD

'Beach wasn't around back then, but the Gym was, as was Pojo, Pokeschool, and others.
Believe me, people knew about the VS set. They just didn't care about it too much.

Vending series cards, though.... now those people cared about and were upset that we only saw a very few of them eventually as promos.

Yes, the Vending Haunter. :( When we after all that looong waiting finally got Pokémon Tower as a League promo, I remember everyone's hopes were up ... but Haunter never came. >_< *is still sad about this, he realizes*
