Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

will GG run the table?

Your state got DECIMATED by GG during states (Team R took your 1st and 2nd in GA with GG...).

I guess MD really changed the situation, huh?

2 out of some 15 players from florida placed with gg, i wouldnt say decimated
and that has nothing to do with the fact that nobody here plays gg
you were looking for a cheap shot at georgia players and you took it
md presents decks to the table with some variety and more than enough capability to beat gg

Tell me when the BDIF won worlds? (crickets) Thats what I thought! Something other than PLOX or GG will win Worlds. You can just about book it!

Keith

We have never had a deck since Nintendo's taking over of the game that was THIS MUCH of the BDIF.

Back to back posts merged. The following information has been added:

I think Beedrill is honestly the best deck against GG, but you have to run a VERY GOOD build, and be a very good player.

Blaziken was more dominant than this. GG is played a A LOT more than Blaze was. Blaze just didn't have negative matchups before Hidden Legends came out. GG can't tech for everything, whether or not something was not played, is another issue. It did and does now have negative matchups.

blissey and beedrill are tough matchups but emp definately has at least 50/50 in both, at least skilled players do
gg/plox is a deck but no longer a big hitter where we play
come to georgia if you have a good gg deck because no one here plays it, warning, you may get rocked

Blissey is a tough matchup only if you have problems setting up. If you can get a quick Empoleon up you should be okay.

As for Beedrill, can't say one way or another but I woud think Empoleon would have an advantage. Empoleon doesnt require more than 1 Stage 2 to be up at the sametime.

I played Beedrill at my first 2 BRs.
The matchup is pretty even. The first time I played against Empoleon I got donked by a T1 Wager and the second I won in sudden death.
It was a good match, but Beedrill does have its advantages over Empoleon. Omastar can hurt if you abuse your rare candies though

I am inclined to agree with Chad here. I am 5-1 against GG with Empoleon. The one lost if the player doesnt hit head on TSD I win. So it is indeed a decent matchup for Empoleon as long as the Empoleon player knows what they are doing.

Drew

A GG deck with a TSD?

HOW? is that? a decent build?

What is the rating of the GG player you were up against?

JNRK

Gardy got Phione, game over. The Setup Goddess with a Big Bully Brother. I can beat it regularly, but
not usually in less than 30 minutes. It seems you have to defense against her so hard to survive the
first 30... Alakazam was meant to be the counter. What was the last Alakazam you saw?

Other Decks beside GG:
Infernakitty [not Catty] (MD Infernape)
Empoleon/Fossils
Leafeon/Magmortar
Togekiss/Magmortar
Ho-oh/Togekiss (Skittles)

Sounds cocky to me. I've personally seen Empoleon absolutely CRUSH Plox/Gallade numerous times. Why would only bad plox players lose to Empoleon? Huge tank, spreader, is NOT reliant on powers, etc. Gallade has to flip over a LOT of prizes to kill ONE, therefore Gallade is not a threat. Gardevoir's psychic lock does nothing against Empoleon. Also, Empoleon has a huge power attack. I don't know where this attitude of yours comes from, but you're definitely incorrect.

As far as your last sentence, apparently you've never heard of Arithmetic. It beats GG/Plox so easily it's not even funny.

Ok... so the Empoleon matchup isnt going so well... hmmm I think I'll do what I've been doing all yr and put in a tech for it.

A good Plox will beat a good Empoleon most of the time.

And yes, I have heard of Arithmetic, infact I was one of the people using it at regionals. Yes it beat Plox (unless the Plox teched) but it wont win anything else now, so as I said there is NO known counter to Plox.

Empoleon does beat GG. Just because you bought it off Team R doesn't mean you have to hold it like it's your baby, Darthpika. I've played and won with both decks and I'm telling you a good Empoleon beats it.

I'm not talking about the one I got from team R. I'm talking about another one thats far better. A good Plox that is teched out right can beat Empoleon. The matchup is probably about 50/50 at best for either deck, and player skill plays a big part in this matchup.

Well I guess in your case,Empoleon is gonna beat you everytime huh??Come on PLOX/GG is good, but its not unstoppable, its the simplest deck to play right now and win.

G&G simple? Haha. These boards have always been great for a laugh or two.

It must be real simple if DarthPika can play It and do well with it.Lol(u can't even come up with a simple list so........

GG has 1 evo line,1 starter and 1 tech and claydol. Yea its real complex to play.

Plox is definitly not simple to run, but if you compare it to something like destiny / mynx / whatever, it's a piece of cake.
You just gotta know when to use your techs, when to plox / wager to stop your opponent from setting up and when to use gallade to kick around.

You can compare it to Empoleon, compare to Leafeon/Glaceon variants, compare to most decks to play, its easier to have success with.

Yea u know when to wager/plox or go aggro gallade. Its easier to setup since it shares the same line, got claydol which only makes a deck better and pachi. Skilled players just can't be touched with this,Less skilled and n00bs can do well with it. No other deck in the format has done that this season and that's fact.
