Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Winter Regional Championships: Salem OR, January 19-20, 2013 (UPDATED)

We will not have any Plasma Storm cards at Winter Regionals. The prereleases do not begin until the weekend following winter Regionals so you'll have to be patient for a week longer. We do have quite a few Dragons Exalted and possibly enough Boundaries Crossed boosters in stock to do some booster drafts as side events with those sets at Winter Regionals.

BOO!!! I wanted to play some plasma storm while I am up in your hood. *sigh* oh well.

I wanted to spread the word that the top cut rounds of the TCG will be ...

Best 2 out of 3 with a 75 minute time limit!

I know many of you have been asking for this for a while and your wish has been granted for Regionals. States, which will be run on one day is a different matter, but you have it for Regionals!

Woohoo!

Just read through all the posts for this years regionals and I like the changes!

New building (not that new)
75 min top cut

Can't wait! See you guys at the event! :)

There's LOTS to do at Regionals

Here are some of the many things you'll be able to do at Regionals besides the main tournaments:

Side Events and Activities:
MEGA-RAFFLE (Saturday Only): This raffle is becoming a NW tradition at States and Regionals, and once again we have some FANTASTIC items. You get an entry slip when you register for the TCG tournament!!! This year we’ve made it possible to get more entries than ever before, and they’re all FREE. You get another ticket in each of the first four rounds of the TCG tournament. You get tickets for side event activities and League play. Bring a player that has never played in Regionals before and you both get another entry.

Here are some of the things you can enter to win:
  1. A Booster Box (36 packs) of Dragons Exalted
  2. 550 TCGO code cards each good for a booster pack in the trading card on-line game
  3. Black & White Prerelease Kit with the Promo items from each of the seven B&W sets as well as some booster packs from each set
  4. Trading Card Game Player’s Kit with lots of useful items like deck boxes, play mats, sleeves, dice and much more
  5. Worlds 2012 Kit with many Worlds items, INCLUDING the play mat, cap, binder, deck box & MOST importantly the Tropical Beach promo!

LEAGUE PLAY (Saturday and Sunday): Come to our League Play area and battle before, after and between rounds of the main tournaments. Best of all you can earn free stuff for those battles, both TCG and VG - THAT'S RIGHT, every one of your battles entitles you to a pick from the card box at the League Headquarters. In the box are hundreds of Pokemon cards from years past, BUT sprinkled throughout the box are some special cards that get you great Pokemon prizes! (games played in the main tournaments do not count)

CREATIVE CENTER (Saturday and Sunday): Express yourself in our Creative Center with drawing, puzzles and other artistic activities. We provide the supplies, you bring the talent and creativity!

BOOSTER DRAFT TOURNAMENTS (Sunday Only): We have some boxes of Dark Explorers, Dragons Exalted and Boundaries Crossed that can be used for 8-person booster draft tournaments on Sunday. Pay an entry fee of $20.00 and get six boosters to draft. You will then build a 40-card deck. All these cards are yours to keep. Energy will be provided (we will need the energy returned after the tournament). After putting together your deck (you have 30 minutes to do this), you will play 20-minute rounds in a Swiss style tournament (everyone plays in all rounds). Prizes will be boosters from the same set you drafted: 1st place – 4 packs, 2nd place – 3 packs, 3rd place – 2 packs, 4th to 8th – 1 pack. Entry Fee - $20.00

BDS, what kind of "Special cards" that get you great Pokemon prizes" are there? And for booster draft will we get 2 packs from each set?

^ The "special" cards are basic energy cards that have a sticker on them that say "prize" (or just a sticker), if you draw one- you get a prize.

Not sure about the booster draft question..............

You get 6 from the one set. So you will have a Dark Explorers OR Dragons Exalted OR Boundaries Crossed draft.
The draft would all be from one set. We have enough boosters in those three sets to do some 8-person drafts with, but each draft would only use one set.

As Benzo said the cards you pull are not "special" except for the fact that you get a prize when you pull one. They are just energy cards with the prize you get written on them. As to what the prizes are ... well, you'll just have to come and play in League to see.

So on Sunday, there will be a Wi-Fi event Cloyster for the VG games?

Well, apparently there will. After reading your question I was able to find the official announcement on pokemon.com and posted it on the front page of the Gym. I am VERY happy to see we will finally get a character distribution at a Regional event! GET THE WORD OUT! It's less than a week away!

BDS, Will the shop have Prism Energy? Or will anybody going have two up for trade.

I have several available that I will be bringing with me to trade.
As a matter of fact I am looking forward to getting some trades done while I am up there.

TPCI is really quite poor when it comes to releasing ANY info about the VG. Rules, Regional locations, Prizes, CP - everything is last second when it comes to the VG.

^ I like to look at it that TCPI is doing it's best to get everything "caught up" to match the level the TCG has for incorporating the VG into events.

Sure, TCPI has taken on a big task to get the VG players something to do at TCG events. I say that we VG players take into consideration that it is not an over night change........ it is going to take some time- and I do think that next year's Pokemon season: Things will be way better as far as the merging process goes. Same approach the TCG has made changes to things over the years, VG needs some time to get "worked" into TCPI events.
