Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

World Championships COMPLETED RESULTS

Not because of the difficulty of the deck even, just because it's so different, that "focuse on one or two main pokemon lines" will sound like a bunch of horse crap.

I already think its a bunch of horse crap. Obviously whats happening with that deck is working. So its kinda hard to say there is just too much going on with it. Its unique and just what this format needs. Cuz its obvious to see Typhlosion, MegaZone, and Magneboar are the top 3 this upcoming season. But this deck changes everything.

so, top 4 is:

Ross Cawthon (Dragons/Vileplume, Reuniclus and Blissey Tech)
Tom Dolezal (Reshiram/Typhlosion)
Josue Palomino (Reshiram/Typhlosion)
David Cohen (Magnezone/Emboar)

The top deck before worlds: Reshiplosion, 1 secret rogue deck and the revenge of magneboar
All I can say is: NICE

Swarmed by what? Yanmega? As long as he drops 2 Oddish and 2 solosis at a time, Yanmega can't take them out. Once the stage 2's are in play, there is nothing you can do really. And, his energy attachments all go to attackers with never worry of getting gusted or worries of being KO'ed with their high HP and Reuniclus. The only other threats of an attacker right now are Zekrom, which can't KO Ross's dragon's, and Magnezone, which Pablo already covered, it can't continually set up and LZ enough energy to win.

I'm guessing...$2. It might see a jump in popularity, but there is a trainer in the next set that does the same thing. Granted, it can't be run with Vileplume, but not everyone is going to run this deck.

This is why I love this format. There is so much discovery left to take place. No one saw this deck coming and thus did not plan accordingly.

This deck has a huge, glaring weakness, but no one seems to be in position to take advantage of it.
This deck would fold hard to Zoroark, Cinccino. All you need to do is have Zoroark with Special Darks to make that Reuniclus no big deal. You could just OHKO his Dragons and he would mightily struggle to OHKO them back without a reliable way to power up Bolt Strike or Blue Flare.

Any word on Seniors and Juniors as well?

David Cohen is playing MagneBoar.

Again, I'm talking about teaching newer players that happen to buy this deck.

Yeah, I don't think they'd be very eager to print the Ross Rogue either... not necessarily because it was hard to master (like Luxchomp) but because the idea is so messed up, and you'd pretty much have to print a playing guide on the back of the box. xD "First, set up Vileplume. Then..."
I'd wager it also plays a bit different than most decks anyway, so it's not really a good starting point to get into the game.

I do wish Ross wins though. :D

I agree. I think the problem last format was that Luxchomp was so obvious. And, the obvious way to counter it was Gengar locking trainers. Everything else was...forgotten about. This format, like you said, is wide open. Ross did an amazing job putting together a deck that counters the meta. Reflip Victini is unfortunate as it will make a lot of decks obvious choices, but until then, good luck find the "good" play, just play what you are good with.
