Wow...so taking exception to your remarks means I'm lacking in integrity?

I don't think he was originally trying to attack you, or anyone really. The idea of having a point system based on League is in itself dangerous and susceptible to maniuplation. I don't think they would factor league into any point system though, exactly for that reason and because many places don't have league. I go to many many premier events but not a single league, ever. They're too far. I do remember back in the day at Toys R Us you got league points stamped in your book. A top notch league leader would probably have no problem keeping everything straight and accurate, but what happens when people hear about this point system and apply to be league leaders in the hopes of manipulation? There are a lot of areas without leagues, new league leaders are in demand.
Anyway, I like the idea of a points system. I consistently top cut at every tournament I go (ok so not the grinder, DIE), but cities, states, gyms, etc. I probably had 20 top cuts this season, and only three wins hah. Because of the volitile nature of card games, I think one should go for consistency and not one time performance. It is the same thing we do in decks. Sure, you can think up combos that are GREAT but can't set up consistently, so they AREN'T good. Is a player that wins one tournament better than a player who gets top 4 at 10?? It is something to consider.
I'm gonna put my vote in for Magnechu's idea, not just because I like Mike, but because it is a solid idea in my opinion. It would give the players who perform well but don't always win the chance to earn that invite.
The only negative I see is that some people can get to more tournaments than others, so what about a % system? Something like this:
Nationals 50%
Regionals 20%
Gyms - 15%
States - 10%
Cities - 5%
So, the actual numbers would be based on the number of events. The more of an event there are, the lower their percent value. Nationals would always be the most, because there is only one. Cities always the least, because there will be more cities than anything else. Anyway, You get 20 points for a win, 15 points for being in the finals, 10 points for top 4, 7 points for top 8.
Then to get your score, you multiply your point for that tournament by its %.
This way, doing better gets you more points, but they don't count as much unless they are at a bigger event.
So if someone can go to 5 Cities and someone else can only go to 1, it won't make a huge difference if you look at the total points.
PS - Don't kill Worlds, we'll miss our international friends.
