Everyone who plays this game competitively want to have a chance to play at worlds. 2 years ago and prior to that, Malaysians who placed first at Nationals were awarded with a trip to worlds in each division. The runner up received invites to play in the tournament. Right now, we only get invites for top 2. Even if we get top 10 CP in Asia Pacific, we only get invites. Nothing is paid for.
Malaysia in general has small earning power compared to other established countries. It would take a lot for us to pay for a trip to get to worlds and cover other expenses.
As far as I know, there are only a few other countries that aren't provided with travel awards. I think they're Chile, Belgium and Philippines. I might be wrong.
Other than getting recognition at major events such as worlds and increment of sales in our country, what can we do to get a travel award?
To be honest, playing this game without a chance to play at worlds and without spending a fortune is basically just being aimless. A travel award will do so much for the PTCG community here. Players will get more competitive, players who retired would come back to play the game and even the number of players in general will increase. This is all due to the fact we have a chance to get a free trip to play in the main event of the game we all love.
Can we do anything to have a chance?

Frankly speaking, the turnout at Malaysian Nationals were 60+ for Masters. Clearly the number of players isn't an issue, right? A country averaging 15 players at tournaments and still receiving travel awards?

Portugal is a small country, and our Pokémon Community isn't as big as many other countries we hear about. We can't even compare to a country like USA, because when your tournaments reach 200 players ours reach 15 at most.
