None of the babies have ever looked all that great, just sickeningly cute. Have faith in Ken Sugimori. He will provide us with super cool pokes soon enough.

FYI, Ken Sugimori isn't the one who designs pokemon, the creator of pokemon,Satoshi Tajiri, does. When he created pokemon, he made over a thousand, but we are just getting them "set" by set. All pokemon are predetermined, and might have been changed a bit from their original forms.

Actually Silver Chaos, Sugimori has been working with Tajiri for Pokemon for a while now.

And that 1000 Pokemon thing...they aren't in their final forms at all. When they bring a new set of Pokemon in, they are totally redone most of the time. Also, Gamefreak and other people work on creating Pokemon as well. It's not just Sugimori locked up in a room producing Pokemon.

Exactly. Creatures, Inc. does a lot of them as well, I actually found one time somewhere on the japanese internet a picture that had some early concept designs for the first set of pokemon from Creatures (made somewhere around 1992 I think, some time early in the development of the Red/Green). There were 8 of them IIRC, only 2 of them were ones that ended up in Red/Green in those forms (don't remember which ones, or what the other ones looked like either. I haven't seen the picture for years, and I have no idea where it was I found it. )

I also think the middle one is a baby Sudowoodo, and I think the Pokémon to the left wears a nightcap. It might be a sandman Pokémon.
 
the first one seems to has a flame and the second one has a leaf head. i am predicting that these three are the three regulars in every pokemon game.
