Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Zach's OMG Games (Barrie BR report) (un-hi-jacked by BDS:P)

So it looks like December the 26th is a good possibility. If I have to forego another event to allow this one particular event, I will. So a junior appreciation day as well? That will mean more prizes for Juniors, and probably more door prizes for juniors and seniors as well. I may even go as far as trying to set up a side event. Depends upon the time available, total attendance and interest shown by attendees. So Terry, can you and Paul help out with this? IS the date do-able with you guys? Advertisement will be critical. I may need judges as well. I can't reveal the venue just yet, because the person I talked to - even though he was very, very enthusiastic about having the event there, wasn't the person in charge. I can't get a final approval until Friday.

Wow, this thing is really moving along. OK, my crowd or what I can round up is locked for the 26th and the 2nd (horrible driving weather as the only caveat). Especially if the 26th is somewhere along the 400 between TO and Barrie.

OK now my fingers are crossed that POP get's onside with this and gives you all of the tournaments that you want, because this kind of "out-of-the-box" thinking is exactly what we need to accelerate our game locally.

"Barrie area: Has less attendance, more leisurely playing style, has the 3 best players in all of Canada (Myself, Winston, and Paige) as seen @ go-pokemon.com"

Us in Alberta are catching up.

BTW to anyone wondering Ontario is actually really good they have lots of good playeres.

Garret: I know you said not to make this a poll but, I think the place you said along the 400 is the Husky Trucker stop.

Thanks for the support Terry - I really appreciate it. I'll do my best so that cooperation between our groups works out well for all of us - not just certain people.

Thank you also astewart for your kind words. I really appreciate that. Guys - no one area is so much head and shoulders better than another group here in Canada. I know some great players from all areas of Canada - watched them play, and was amazed at their skill, ... and their luck. We over here in Ontario have been blessed so far, with a little better than the average amount of events here in Canada. Hopefully we can all work together to make more events happen. Fortunately the opportunity has been given to me to be a new PTO, and I want to work with POP, AND ESPECIALLY the players to make things happen. If you have some ideas, helpful hints, complaints, money you'd like to give away .... hey, I'm your man! Then when Nationals come, we can all get together and have a pokemon party as has never been seen here in Canada before! 200 players is not unrealistic. If we work together it can be done. But now is the time to start working together - as much as we can - to grow events, venues and players. Leagues are a good start, but unless we have something like some good quality events to bolster the populace, the grass roots will wither with the status quo. I won't let opposition deter me from growing the game here in Ontario. Don't let it in any of your areas either.

Zach: no. .... and no means no. Wait until Friday sometime.

Garret: A way that you can attract players is set-up a stand downtown Barrie when a festival happens to attract players. Talk to schools to get something going on, it may be helpful.

Will you be at league tomorrow to discuss this? I'd be willing to do this if you help me out with it. I'll even "pay" you.

I don't suppose it was definitely officially announced. We'll have to wait to see for sure. Last year it was out west, so I hope it's back in Toronto this year.

As for that venue, I still haven't got a definite yes or no, but I'm getting much closer. I've been told I should have a final answer by Tuesday. The thing is: I still have no definite answer as to how many Cities I'll even be allowed. I'd love to get everyone's hopes up, but I guess that isn't really fair. Please accept my apologies for my presumption.

Thats good i would love it in Toronto, except no pokebus from Alberta :(
