LOL, funny how accurate the status effects describe the situation. But who's burned? Wizards USA? >_<

I just thought I'd say guys that Raw Deal is an incredibly competitive game. *punches Freddy before he replies* There are as many players as Pokémon, and it has a great players community. There is a wide range of cards, (at least 5 sets so far) and there are lots of tournaments in the UK. Sure, there's no DCI, but the players have devised there own ranking system within the UK. Check out this site for a look at the player base. Anyway, they have trips to America too...
I'm still playing Pokémon, but also trying to learn Raw Deal properly, as it's a very challenging game. At the minute I'm organising a series of Pokémon tournies for ex-BBs players, and I'll also be going to some leagues around the area.
Later..

hmmm that website irwinmalek recommended looks interesting. Nice to see people getting into a new TCG so readily - proving that it's not the lack of players that are the cause for Pokémon waning but the lack of promotion.
IrwinM - why 'ex-BBs' players, what's happened to their league? Remember we're still running the Slough one, email me for details anyone.
All said and done that website you mentioned Irwin is miles better than cardfaqs.com
senti_blast - I can't get ahold of you at all, email me or txt me your new number.
Still no news from the WotC-UK camp.
Golduck - yes, WotC-US does seem to be burned all they have done to try and move things along. Usually when we get this little response from WotC people have lost their jobs...

Much appreciated SnorlaxKing and 'pro, looks like we're relying on hand-me-downs from the US again. Thank you VERY much WotC-UK!!!
'pro - why would Craig need promos, he doesn't run a league he's so random he doesn't turn up to our league for months and then suddenly sweeps the Prof tourney...
Craig (S_B) - if you and Fiona need that trip to Rainham on Dec 15th I HAVE to have you contact me soon!!!
NoPoke - Thanks for the emails you've been sending me, sad to hear about Crawley league dying a few months back. Hope we can get you guys to come to Slough's one soon.
IrwinMalek - I think if BBS' collapse is that informative you should post it up for discussion here... and why aren't you coming to league any more?

It makes me so angry to know that the UK and Lee Singleton is sitting on the promos that we need for league and yet still we have to ask US league members for these bits and pieces. I wasn't aware of posters being given out for each season at all!!

League kits and league support is, IMO, the basic thing WotC MUST provide if they want to keep the game alive.
If they don't, and if they hope Professors, Master Professors, Gym Leaders, TO's, ... will import promos, league kits or other material, they're simply not doing their job !
Are you sure WotC UK is not, like WotC France, out of the Pokemon business ?
It's also the responsibility of WotC headquarters (Renton) to keep the promises made to the players and to fulfil their commitments (league promos for example), even if that happens in a country under the responsibility of a specific office.
If one of the offices of the company doesn't care about the customers, players and people involved in the game, the headquarters should take the appropriate decisions, and at least provide the basic help and support ... or confirm the fact that Pokemon is not supported in the country anymore.
I may perfectly understand that WotC UK is understaffed, that Lee has a lot of other things to do, that ... but the company has to find a solution.
Saying thet offices are independant is not an answer. WotC sells and promotes Pokemon as a company, not as an office. Is it a different license for each office ?
I'm sure that a mail sent to WotC USA with all the information about what (doesn't) happen in the UK will help.
If they don't want to see the game dead in one the areas of the World, I'm sure they'll do something
We all know that people like the MT's have always done their best for all of us, and we may be sure of their support once again.

Freddy, I'll post more about BBs' collapse when I know more..
And about the Slough league, I told you I wasn't gonna' make it every week... I have other tournies for both Pokémon and even Raw Deal. (sometimes)
Also, at the minute, I am organising an Expedition draft in London- mostly for BBs players. Probably next weekend, you can come along if you want.. Let me know before though. It should be Ł7 for 5 packs.

Michel - great post I totally agree with you, I don't think that leagues are supported anymore in the UK. I wonder whether they want us to give up our leagues in the UK, perhaps it's good for business...

BTW I don't really see any more point in involving WotC-US, they can only forward the emails onto Lee Singleton and we get no response or action after that even.
I can't see much more point in running a league anymore, without support. People aren't coming without promotion from WotC-UK. It's a circus if you ask me.

Freddy, I do agree with you. Running a league without support is completely crazy.
quote: BTW I don't really see any more point in involving WotC-US, they can only forward the emails onto Lee Singleton and we get no response or action after that even.
That's the problem, they forward the emails
I don't want to be too negative, but as far as I know, the leagues and OP in UK are alive thanks to 4 or 5 people only, without any support of Wizards UK. I know some of these people are going to stop if nothing happens quickly, and that will be the end of the game in UK. (correct me if I'm wrong )
Even if WotC UK doesn't care about the situation, or if the staff has no time for Pokemon, I'm sure WotC USA don't want that to happen.
Forwarding the mails is maybe a good solution ... if someone reply to these mails. If no answer is given, forwarding the mails is not the solution anymore.
If WotC USA say that it's not their 'territory', they must give you the name of someone who can help. WotC is not 'god' in the UK, they have a boss somewhere. Someone who gives the directives to the European offices, someone who decides of the politics and strategies for Europe.
I see two solutions : either the strategy is to stop supporting UK, or it is to keep on supporting the game in your country. THEY support the game WITH you, not you alone !
No answer to the mails, no answer to phone calls, no Expedition, non professors allowed in Prof events, no results uploaded for the GenCon tournaments, no league promos since ... a very long time, ... and I know I do forget a lot of things. I don't want to attack Lee or any other person of the UK staff, there are maybe good reasons why that happens. But WotC, or Hasbro, as a woldwide company, must realize that they're going to lose OP and leagues in the UK.
BattleZone is announced ... will you have to fight again for that because you will not want to tell to your kids 'that's great but that's not for you' ?

Michel,
again well said you are an inspiration too us all.. but the trouble is I am starting to get fed up with the fight.
For 3 long years I have fought WotC UK, to run OP, to run a League, To get League kits, For advertising and now I have just about had it.
It would be great to talk to Freddy and NoPoke and Edderz and everyone about something other than how bad WotC UK are but.. their inaction causes so many problems.
Yes we know they are understaffed, yes they have had problems getting stuff into the UK.. but.. if it's in their warehouse.. what we were told 6 months ago then why have they not sent it out?
It seems there are Lies, Damn Lies and WotC UK.. where there are Lies, Silence and Inaction.

SuperAmphy, NO personal attacks please, and certainly no attacks of this kind. Worth a ban IMO
I think the questions are : - how long will you, UK Professors, still keep fighting, not only for the game, but also against WotC UK ? - what will happen to the game in UK if you quit ? - is that the desire of WotC/Hasbro International ?
My answers ? very short time - dead - no
If the answer to the third question is correct, WotC/Hasbro will do what they have to do in order to provide solutions. That's what I hope !
I'm on the other side of the Channel, and I don't live in that situation, but I feel it's URGENT for WotC to do something. Respect for the people who spend so much time and money for the game (while the profits go in other people's pockets), respect for the players and customers ...
Please try again to contact the MT's or other people in Renton, I'm sure they'll listen, answer, and do something positive.

Personal attack? Oookkk...well if it's that disturbing I'll rephrase it more diplomatically:
At a certain company, based in a country mentioned previously a certain individual is getting paid to sit at a computer, doing nothing. The section of this company for which he works is based on a particular game and if this continues then this particular game will have much lower sales and eventually this section of the company selling this particular product will begin to run out of money. Thus it may be shut down totally. Then this particular individual in this particular country can switch jobs to another company in this particular country and continue to earn money. The more cynical of you may find it appropriate to name this particular person as a role model. However, I would never under any circumstance name this person as a role model. I find Lee Singleton a much better role model as he is a brilliant, hard-working guy.
That OK?
