Then how do you explain the pros winning consistently? Surely, if there's so much luck, then any random scrub should be able to take down a pro. So we shouldn't be seeing the same pro TCG players on top 8 time and again? Wait, we do keep seeing the same pros in top 8? Weird. It's like posters here have no idea how probability and games interact...

I hate to keep arguing with you, but we DO see randoms in top cuts at big events. You can't say that there weren't a few surprises in Top 8 at this year's Nationals. Scizor? Flariados? People definitely didn't expect those to be there at the end. I guess if there was no luck involved, Chuck would win every one of these things.

But back on topic; Snake is a lot of fun to play as. He takes some getting used to since there really was nothing like him in Melee, and his aerials come out a bit slow. But if once you get in tune with his delayed attacks you can really start to have some fun. And his mines are hilarious!

Did you just call John Silvestro a random? :x

Woah, dojo told me something I didn't know today.
You can switch between Samus and Zamus if you hit the up and down on the control pad really fast, as a special taunt, like how fox/falco did in melee.

Man, Meta Knight and Marth are both so slick, aren’t they? The story in The Subspace Emissary unfolds with virtually no dialogue. Every so often you might hear a character yell out their trademark battle cry for a particular special move, but for the most part, things move along at a good clip unaided by voiced lines. (I used a similar technique in the Kirby animated series as well.)
During the story, some characters are (or at least appear to be) familiar with some of the other personalities that appear along the way. However, there are several characters that will treat each other as complete strangers at first, just like Marth and Meta Knight did in the movie above.
What spurred these two, who had formerly viewed each other as enemies, to band together? It’s because they realize now that they are united against common enemies known as the Subspace Army.
Now I know some will think, "Well, duh! Marth and Meta Knight would know that at a glance! Neither of them looks like a Primid!" But look at Wario and Bowser. Both of them are residents of "this world" and yet they are on the side of the Subspace Army.
While members of the Subspace Army are easy enough to spot at a glance, figuring out who’s an enemy and who’s an ally is much harder with other characters. My advice is to remember that old saying: The enemy of my enemy is my friend.

... It's freaking easy. If I remember, yellow eyes + pale skin (+ aura?) = bad.
...That said, there is one character who has a rather unusual method by which they can distinguish friend from foe...

Oh, I wanted to outright flame the "Brawl sucks for competetive play" whining, but I held back because getting modded/possibly temp banned isn't my idea of fun.

Oh, I so wish I could do that too.

MY GOD PEOPLE. Sakurai was begged to make this game! Many people love the game and have it already! Just because your favorite glitches (I never really liked wavedashing) are not there, does not mean that the game is bad for tourney play. Just get used to it, and I think it will be better than Melee.

Glad I got that out of my system before it got a lot worse.

Anyway... I'm so going to main Lucario, Captain Falcon, and Olimar. They all look like very good characters. Falcon PAWNCH!

My new list is: Lucario, Luigi, and Wolf (I've already explained Luigi and Lucario, Wolf is because I already know the gameplay difference between Fox and Falco is that Falco is faster on the ground and has stronger ground smashes, and Falco is faster in the air and has better Air Smashes. I'm curious to see where Wolf fits in to that). This is it, this is done, this is the defined and final list of my characters.

im guessing that its lucario, since he can sense aura or whatever.
but i can only assume you think the same. haha.

So based on first impressions who are you maining?

I'm going to go with either Lucas or Olimar for my main.
And then I'll mess with Pit, Metaknight, and a few other guys.

I saw an amazing battle of Metaknight vs Pit on youtube, and it really encouraged me to try out Pit from the start.

I'm likely to go with Toon Link, Wolf, or Ganondorf...Heck, maybe my old main (Marth).

Apparently some person did a data dump of Brawl and found out that there are 5 characters that have movesets, models, and 3everything except for an icon to choose them. So people are guessing that Nintendo will release a patch allowing you to use these characters. Or you can use the new action replay coming out.

Character
Dr. Mario
Toon Zelda
Toon Shiek
Roy
(Forgot)

I'll get proof as soon as I ask the guy where he found it.
